Is it wrong to leave the cinema to use the loo

Vinteduser8 · 26/05/2024 20:11

Went to the strangers chapter one last night, I needed the loo about half an hour from the end so politely ask the people in the row with me if they could let me past. They said it was disturbing their movie. Is it wrong to think people should be able to use the loo during a movie?

When you gotta go, you gotta go. However this wouldn’t be a problem in my local cinema. It’s quite expensive but the seats lay down which means there is a massive gap to walk through the rows. No need to ask anyone to move

How do you watch a movie laying down? Do they lay sideways or is the movie on the ceiling? I need to know more!

Whothefuckdoesthat · 26/05/2024 20:44

It’s not wrong, exactly, but it’s quite inconsiderate. If you’ve got a weak bladder, you should go before the film starts and choose an aisle seat.

Crabble · 26/05/2024 20:54

awful responses.

Many people have medical conditions which mean that actually no, they can’t last 2 hours if they go beforehand. I agree it’s best to choose an aisle seat if one is available but there isn’t always.

Christ, people. Get up, and sit back down
What is the drama! ?

People are so judgemental of others

💯

Some of these posts are batshit.

At our local Showcase cinema you can recline the seats using a wee device on the side. The back goes down and the feet come up. Loads of space to get past the rest of the row too.

Standingupstandingout · 26/05/2024 20:57

It's absolutely fine. It takes a few seconds to get past the row of people. Some people can't wait that long and why should they lose out on a central view just because they have a weaker bladder. Tons of people can't wait 2 hours for a loo stop. Don't even give it a second thought. Going to the loo is a human right. It's not exactly optional is it 😆

olympicsrock · 26/05/2024 20:57

Drives me bonkers when people drink gallons at a movie and then go in and out to the loo. Most people can last if they have emptied their bladder beforehand . Just watch the film!

If you really need to go choose an aisle seat.

littleteapot86 · 26/05/2024 20:59

It is absolutely fine to go to the loo during the film. I'm pretty disappointed in a lot of the responses on here. What an uncompassionate bunch.

viques · 26/05/2024 20:59

Did you come back in with a plate of stinky nachos? If you did you were very unreasonable. If not then fine, but next time sit on an aisle seat.

Do you still watch the film in front of you? That sounds awkward.

She can choose whatever seat she wants. She's paid for her seat.

It’s a normal screen and it’s not a complete flat lay down. More like reclined with a foot rest

Starlightstarbright3 · 26/05/2024 21:05

I would not think anything if …. No one wants to sit in the aisle seats at the side of the screen

BlackEyesLikeADollsEyes · 26/05/2024 21:05

If you can't stand brief interuptions from other humans needing to pee, then a communal viewing option is probably not for you. Watch the film at home where you can lock the lounge doors Grin

If you expect to need the loo during a film surely you choose an aisle seat. Most people can last 2hrs.
But if you need to go, you need to go!

It's not always possible to secure an aisle seat though. I get claustrophobic but sometimes an aisle seat isn't available. And its these sorts of reactions that make me claustrophobic as I need to know I can get out if I need to.

Are you getting confused with the plane seats thread?🙂

Hides behind biggest size popcorn box they do at our local cinema.🍿

Actually some cinemas do a seating chart

Overthebow · 26/05/2024 21:12

I didn’t realise there were still cinemas where you have to ask others to get up.

You choose your seat numbers in the cinemas I go to. I choose aisle seats

Grennwyld · 26/05/2024 21:24

I’ve never been annoyed at somebody leaving to go to the loo or had anyone annoyed with me.
If people can’t cope with people needing to use the loo they should wait for it to be released to watch at home. It’s a public place with living people who need the toilet. I can’t believe people are so uptight about it.

viques · 26/05/2024 21:24

Soubriquet · 26/05/2024 21:11

Ours do actually, all of them, but to be fair a) there are rarely enough people in there on a Wednesday afternoon to fill a row and b) stumbling about in the twilight looking for cunningly hidden seat numbers causes more disruption that accidentally sitting in someone’s special seat that they always sit in. Sorry @dementedpixie .

Edenmum2 · 26/05/2024 21:24

It wouldn't occur to me to be annoyed with someone for needing the loo.

AliceCallous · 26/05/2024 21:25

It's not ideal for anyone, but if you've got to go, you've got to go. It could happen to any of us.

Swissrollover · 26/05/2024 21:32

It's also probably not just your row that is disturbed by having to make room for you to get by, but the screen is also partially blocked for more rows behind too. My attention is always drawn to people exiting within my sight line - not that I would say anything to them, but it is distracting.

If you have any inkling that you are unlikely to be able to control your bladder for 2 hours or so, it would be considerate to try to sit close to the exit.

This isn't AIBU.

I don't think it's wrong at all. People are so intolerant of each other it's horrible to see.

This, times a million!

What the hell is wrong with people these days?
