Help with long haul flight! iPad games and apps that don't need internet

5 year old DD and I have a long haul flight next week. I have downloaded the max allowed on iPlayer of cbeebies shows, we have a hairdressing game and a vets game already. Any good recommendations for apps we'll be able to use on the flight?

Because that will last all of 5 minutes and I have 9 hours to fill. She's 5 not a baby.

Tragic 🤷‍♀️

@Chickatease I hope you're nicer to people IRL than you are on here. People are trying to make suggestions, and even tho they are away from your question, there's really no need for the snark IMO.

That's fine, I think if people have nothing helpful to add why bother? Such a simple questions but the majority of answers assume I have never been on a plane or parented before. Bizarre.

@Chickatease it's just that you sound unnecessarily angry and defensive. Nobody is judging your parenting, just trying to make helpful suggestions.

Because 1. I have activity books, colouring books, pencil case and a reading book packed already but it is literally nothing to do with my question. We will also probably buy a magazine at the airport. But nowhere have I said please help me fill 9 hours with screen time 2. While a baby may be entertained on a flight by waving a toy around or playing cars my DD is not. 3. Who is carrying a fucking toy box on to the plane? Cos it won't be DD I tell you that. How many toys do you think can be packed on a child's carry on luggage. So thanks for you condensending replies but they are literally no help whatsoever

Wow. So rude to people offering excellent suggestions. Hmm

A handful have had helpful suggestions. The one who suggested I was jumping to 9 hours of screens before trying books and toys was quite clearly judging my parenting or trying to make herself feel superior.

Unsurprisingly I have heard of sticker books before. I have pointed out several times I already have a bag of activities. The screen is in addition to the Mumsnet approved books and toys

My 5 year old quite likes one called Drawing For Kids which is just loads of pictures you can decorate with different colours and styles of paint.

How good is your child's reading? My son's favourite game at the moment is to open up Notes and then just hit the predictive word function to make 'silly sentences'. He'll make a really long one and I'll have to read it and vice versa.

Other apps that have been suggested are good too - CBeebies and the Bluey app.

Who are you flying with? Many have in flight Wi-Fi now anyway. Otherwise just downloads to your iPad and mix of normal in flight options.

Not many offer free WiFi JetBlue and emirates do I think. Others offer it but you need to pay. There are so many different systems. Free crap speed or pay for good speed.... pay for crap speed..... only 100 connections at a time....its still in its infancy

My dd's like Toca World, you have to pay for the various bits in it but they still play on it aged 9 and 11.
They also like Gacha life which is just designing characters but keeps them occupied.
