They have a ridiculously cheap sale on today
Very sadly it appears they are closing
I saw this on my FB this afternoon so sale is still active

It's a scam

MonsteraMama · 19/05/2024 15:54

It's a scam you muppet so I hope you've not bought anything.

gloriagloria · 19/05/2024 15:55

This is a scam - don’t click on it

PatriciaHolm · 19/05/2024 15:55

Nooooooo it's a scam. Someone else posted about being caught by it earlier.

GinForBreakfast · 19/05/2024 15:56

Scam. Seasalt are doing very well btw.

BobnLen · 19/05/2024 16:05

Those flash sales are always scams, anything with 80% off and 90% off everything avoid like the plague.

BobnLen · 19/05/2024 16:06

Also scammers may post on these threads like the one linked above saying it is ok and they received the items

BarcardiWithGadaffia · 19/05/2024 16:08

Are the scammers branching out now that everyone is reporting there not very convincing Facebook ads?

The capitals are a bit OTT

CormorantStrikesBack · 19/05/2024 16:12

And don’t believe the comments on the fb adverts saying thanks for my stuff, it’s really nice. They’re scam comments.

Cotswoldbee · 19/05/2024 16:16

It's on FB and therefore it must be true!😖

Don't think I have EVER clicked on a FB link.🤔
If I was to see something like this and wanted to know more I would always go directly to the website, not via a link.

I wondered if OP was scammer.

Misthios · 19/05/2024 16:20

It's so obviously a scam I can't believe people are falling for it.

I have reported two of the fake profiles advertising the clearance sale to Facebook but they don't seem to care much.

BobnLen · 19/05/2024 16:26

DH showed me one once for Montane which is expensive walking gear, I said do you really think that is real and there is 90% off everything.

BoudiccaOfSuburbia · 19/05/2024 16:27

Of course Seasalt aren’t closing 🙄

Cheeesus · 19/05/2024 16:28

HaystackHair · 19/05/2024 16:18

I wondered if OP was scammer.

Wouldn’t they have included a link? I think it’s more likely that their username is apt. Sorry OP 😂

purser25 · 19/05/2024 17:18

It’s a scam just write scam scam or criminal avoid. Have reported to Facebook but they say advert is fine it isn’t.

SoupDragon · 19/05/2024 17:24

@uncomfortablydumb53 I hope you haven't bought anything! If you have, cancel your card!

EggcornAcorn · 19/05/2024 17:26

oh god OP, hope you've not tried to buy anything today, eek.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 19/05/2024 17:30

No worries, not bought anything I but I did click the lick as I was curious

OP posts:
EggcornAcorn · 19/05/2024 17:31

Thank goodness.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 19/05/2024 17:31

No I am certainly not a scammer

OP posts:
MonsteraMama · 19/05/2024 17:49

Rule of thumb on the internet OP, if it sounds too good to be true it's a scam.

FlickDrink · 19/05/2024 17:53

I know you shouldn't victim blame but people need to take some responsibility for their own actions when they are online. It's really easy to find advice about likely scams and information about things you should be wary of.
When people get scammed the cost is often born by the banks and that means 'we' all pay for it. It also encourages more and more scamming.

I do understand that there are some really convincing scams and I also understand that some people are more vulnerable than others but, you have to be pretty gullible to fall for a Facebook scam

HeadDeskHeadDesk · 19/05/2024 19:15

Total scam. you only have to take a quick look at some of the comments on the SeaSalt 'sale' advert on FB to see that all these people so delighted with their bargains have south east asian names and not British or even European ones.

When will people stop falling for this 'sadly due to the financial crisis we are having to close our shop' nonense? Most of these companies have never had a bricks and mortar shop. They often claim to be 'British designed or British based' companies but the small print will tell you the stuff is made in 'their' factories in China. They churn out cheap crap that isn't worth the reduced 'bargain price' you pay for it, let alone the official 'original' price.

When it arrives it looks nothing like the photo, but the catch is that you have to return it to China and pay the shipping, which often costs more than the item cost you in the first place. It's just a way of selling you cheap shit. If something seems to good to be true then it probably is.

Just wise up, people.
