What's the cheapest holiday abroad

Specialneedsnana · 19/05/2024 07:50

I'm looking at holidays. I have never been on holiday as an adult. And my children have never been on holiday at all . There will be 3 children, 2 adults. I am looking at all inclusive. When I look it's coming to at least 3000. Will I get cheaper than that?

It must be all inclusive. Flying from Gatwick. Will consider Heathrow. 4hrs or less flying. Nice weather. Safe, beach , pools

That seems cheap to me- are the children very young? Where is that to and for how long? Is it in the summer holidays?

cherryassam · 19/05/2024 07:59

When are you going? What age are the children?

The cheapest all inclusive destinations are usually Turkey, Costa Brava, Bourgas, Egypt, Costa Del Sol, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, off the top of my head

longdistanceclaraclara · 19/05/2024 08:13

3k for 5 for a week? That's is cheap.

Rocknrollstar · 19/05/2024 08:14

Why do you have to go abroad for your first holiday? My DC thought a holiday was a cottage in Devon and days on the beach (when it didn’t rain). We are taking GD to Isle of Wight not Tenneriffe.

Branleuse · 19/05/2024 08:17

Cheapest holiday abroad? Or all inclusive recommendations?
Summer holidays?

DancefloorAcrobatics · 19/05/2024 08:25

AI at that price must be grimm.
How old are the DC?

But that is probably more expensive!

Find an apartment on the Costa del Sol and either eat out in cheap places or have picnic food from the supermarket.

Our holiday abroad is costing less than £1k (about £950), for 2 adults, 3 DC over 10, but I don't think it's what you're looking for!

We are going to a campsite in Holland with Eurocamp, going on ferry Dover to Calais. Lots to do there including pools etc but obviously no food included. We will buy at supermarkets. Weather will be maybe a couple of degrees hotter than here, which is enough for us.

We got a cheaper price by buying early & we also had a 5% loyalty discount.

I wouldn't take a 14 year old in term time, they are doing GCSEs/Scottish equivalent assuming you are U.K. based. Your best option is the very last week of the summer holidays or if you are in Scotland or an area with early summer holidays, the first week. Failing that October half term. Education has to come before holidays especially gcse time.

I just had a quick look.out of interest. I feel like they are the sort of place you need a car. Definitely see its a good idea though. Hope you enjoy it.

I've paid 2k for three weeks in Turkey in the school holidays for 2 adults and a 14 year old .. It's self catering but cheaper holidays do exist. My recommendation is to book early and be prepared to spend your time doing your research. Holidays have gone up in price massively over the last few years but some of the prices people quote they've paid on MN are ridiculous

Oh yeah I forgot about that. Thank you

We spend 2 grand weeks camping near Bilbao in a campsite called Las Arenillas in August (we visited 3 other campsites over the years, this is the cheapest and our favourite). The owners speak good English. We had to book what the Spaniards call Taxi Adoptado for all our camping gear. It's was a 45 minutes transfer from Bilbao Airport. The weather was perfect, not too hot. Tge campsight was meticulously clean, had good security, a little shop and a little cafe. €1 for coffee, €1.5 for ice cream. An hourly bus will take to the nearest town once you get bored of the beach. I have been looking at all inclusive myself. Your budget is very tight however you could try Marrakesh for Easter break, it will be already be very warm if not hot by then

Meredusoleil · 19/05/2024 08:38

Yes, in the second week of August 😊

princesspeppax · 19/05/2024 10:25

Family of 5 here.
We've done Tenerife and Salou multiple times under that budget. Also the other canarie islands and disneyland Paris. Can definitely be done on that budget! Not 5* but still a great holiday

princesspeppax · 19/05/2024 10:27

@DancefloorAcrobatics not always grim. We are not long back from 4* half board stay in Salou, Spain for £2500. Small waterpark on side, close to local theme parks etc my kids loved it !

Itsmeamandaberry · 19/05/2024 10:29

That's cheaper my AI for two to Lara beach is costing £2600 and that's for a week. Not at peak time

Scarletttulips · 19/05/2024 10:35

Where are you flying from?

Kitkat1523 · 19/05/2024 10:39

Depends what you want…I’ve just booked Zadar Croatia for 1st July ….Ryanair flights came ou this week…flights are 90 each…one week apartment 500 so £340 each .

CeeJay81 · 19/05/2024 10:39

3k is about as cheap as you'll get for 5 of you, off peak. We are going to Tenerife in December, 4 of us. Its £2700 AI.

Bjorkdidit · 19/05/2024 10:43

MinnieMountain · 19/05/2024 08:29

This, probably cheaper than AI. The Canaries in Novenber might also be a lower cost option. Or Fuengirola or Benalmadena from Malaga.

Look for somewhere in a coastal town as you'll be able to transfer using public transport. Also within walking distance from a proper supermarket like Lidl, Mercadona or Eroski as groceries similar price or cheaper than UK
