I've just got up after an awful night's sleep. I have one of those annoying, does nothing, tickly coughs 🙄 My first cuppa's just brewing & I'm going to enjoy it in silence!

I'm in wait mode this morning - going out for drinks later to celebrate my favourite ex-colleague's new job, so won't do anything big 🤣

I'll get the washer going & tidy round after my cuppa. Hopefully the weather will improve - it's looking quite grey out there atm. I bought a new black marker too so will probably finish customising our t-shirts to wear to the Eras Tour in four weeks. I'm so bloody excited, even if I am having an outfit crisis 😱. Un-excitingly, there are a couple of bills I need to pay online too so they'll be my first job of the day.

Dd1's working at 2, so she likely won't do anything much either. I expect she'll lay in bed until the last possible minute 🤷‍♀️

Dd2 wanted to go try on a blazer type jacket in town so hopefully her Dad will do that with her, although I'm not convinced he's the best person for fashion advice 🤣

Later it'll be home & do nothing much for me. There's loads I want to do but once I stop, I'm done, lately.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning @lucysmam you are right to have an easy day so you can enjoy your night out. You need to allow yourself time to recover 💞

I am ready to go out, which is rare as Saturday morning is normally my lazy one.
First load of washing in the machine, ready to be hung up when I get in.

I left a couple of broken chains in the jewellers yesterday, so I need to pick them up. I'll pop in to the bakers for dome nice bread and maybe have a little mooch in the local shops while I'm out.

Afternoon in the garden, I need to get my peas and courgettes in the veg beds and do some weeding. I'm going to cut some rhubarb, too, so I might make a Fool or Syllabub for pud tonight. It looks like it might be sunny after a dull and cool week.

I so love these threads.

FlorencenotRatchet · 18/05/2024 10:33

Morning @lucysmam and all. Happy Saturday.
Just back from Parkrun and one load of washing done.
Need to buy some running shorts/gear and some new towels so will pop out for those shortly.
Apart from that looking forward to a relaxing day.
Enjoy your day everyone.

lucysmam · 18/05/2024 10:43

Me too @ssd ! It's like twitching the net curtains without needing to shift from my comfy spot 🤣

Working until lunchtime!

ImPunbelievable · 18/05/2024 10:47

Im so jealous of those with good weather - where abouts are you all?

Miserable as sin here in London so just mooching about. Got one load of laundry in and ate too much breakfast so now super sleepy! Need to give the house a thorough clean though as it's looking a bit mucky and I've guests staying in the week Blush

Later on I'll work through the pile of Vinted stuff I need to list for sale and get ready to out to a music event celebrating female history

JenniferGreenHat · 18/05/2024 10:48

Waves to @lucysmam - I love your threads where I get to read what everyone is up to!

Currently going through DC bookcases to take books to charity shop, DC have football and dancing later. Sorting through board games too for the charity shop. Some unopened.
Then out for dinner with DH tonight - just us!! I think this is the first time in about 5 years, which is ridiculous really, but at least we are now. Have a good day everyone!

DilemmaDelilah · 18/05/2024 10:50

Good morning @lucysmam . We only got back from holiday yesterday afternoon and had our supermarket delivery at 4pm. My not-local daughter arrived here with her toddler on Thursday, and we're having family lunch today with the rest of the family, so it's all been a bit full on this morning. Luckily I already decided not to do the home-cooked thing for today - we're having nice picnic food and I'm not laying the table or anything... plates and cutlery will be on the table with paper napkins and food for people to help themselves to. I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist, but this time I'm serving things up in their packets and if the children want to eat nothing but chocolate mini rolls and crisps then it is up to their parents to deal with. There are plenty of protein, salad and fruit options to choose from.
My daughter has taken the toddler to the local play park to wear him out (hopefully). I am now sitting down with a delicious cup of coffee (Tassimo cafe hag decaffeinated with hot milk, if anyone is interested). DH has gone out to get the apple juice and garlic sausage that weren't delivered yesterday, before picking up the local family (who don't drive).
I am hoping that we will all have a nap after everyone goes home. My not-local daughter and the toddler are going out for tea with a friend, so DH and I will have a little bit of peace and quiet before they return, and the bedtime routine of 'In the Night Garden' starts up again. I'm looking forward to the time when the toddler is ready for a bedtime story. The other grandchildren are too old for that now... And it's something I enjoy.
Tomorrow not-local daughter and toddler are going out to lunch with local daughter and family, and will travel home after that, so we don't get much time with her this visit.

lucysmam · 18/05/2024 10:51

@JenniferGreenHat you're brave! Dd2 has shelves, drawers, and piles, of books. I'd be in the shit if I ever suggested any went anywhere.

DaffydownClock · 18/05/2024 11:09

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone, it’s muggy and cloudy here and I’ve been awake since 4am 😵‍💫
The dog and I were out early, we wandered around a big field and dog did zoomies so she’s asleep now. I sorted out dehydrating the liver for dog treats and that’s buzzing away in the kitchen.
I have been out in the garden for a couple of hours weeding, feeding and topping up my 6 strawberry pots, they’re looking good, planting out some of my dahlias and other bits I have been nurturing so I feel rather pleased with myself. They had stashes of buried hazelnuts from the squirrels, clearly he or she has forgotten where they were!
Am enjoying a cold drink indoors then I need to think about what we’re eating today, possibly fish pie and vegetables?
Anyway, not a lot planned for today other than hoping DH finishes sorting out the summerhouse so I can have fun titivating it to my liking 😊

Decafflatteplease · 18/05/2024 11:13

Morning @lucysmam and all!

Park for us this morning with a treat from the bakery 😄

This afternoon my teens are out with friends so I think we will just potter in the garden with the little ones

DH out tonight so I'll watch TV on my own 😄

Crunchymum · 18/05/2024 11:42

Hello lucysmam and everyone.

We've been hit by illness here. I'm just getting over a cough and cold and DC2 came down with a tummy bug on Wednesday. DC1 had a migraine yesterday but thankfully SATs finished on Thursday.

So we're in varying states of recovery. And we all need a break.

Today I've been out for supplies, am on wash load number 2 and have batch cooked a few things for the freezer. DP had taken DC3 to the park, she's the only child with any energy. It's looking rather grey here so I think we'll hanker down for a film later.

Will be more of the same tomorrow I'm sure as we have a bug week so I want everyone well again.

lucysmam · 18/05/2024 12:35

@Crunchymum hopefully you're all feeling better in time for half term 🤞

I've had a productive morning & am just waiting for the washer to finish its last load before heading out for the afternoon.

Good afternoon Lucysmam and others. I was up very early - couldn't sleep and a pal sent me a message - so stripped the bed and washed all the white stuff and hung it out by half eight. Dishwasher went on early too. Then I met a friend for breakfast at the local garden centre. We sat and blethered for a couple of hours and I've dropped her off home. I've checked my tyre pressure and cleaned out the inside of the car. I'm going to hoover it soon. Then I will potter about the back garden, keeping in the shade. It's warm and sunny here. Dinner tonight might be chicken, I haven't decided. Enjoy your day.

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 18/05/2024 13:10

I'm at a bit of a loss, husband is out all day and daughter also on a day out, I'm just floating around the house not knowing what to do with myself.
Did my workout first thing, done some hoovering but nothing else needs doing.

Muffin101 · 18/05/2024 13:34

Enjoy your night out later!
I’m having a bloody lovely day. DS (2yo) and I took the horses (well, horse and pony!) out for a leisurely hack quite early this morning, before it got too hot, and we have been in the garden since, apart from a brief interlude where DS went for a ride in the tractor with his grandad, he was in the field behind the house so that worked very nicely. We’ve weeded the patio, planted all sorts of new plants, climbed the trees, watched the ducks on the pond, we had lunch outside on a picnic blanket, he’s ridden his little electric quad bike around (and around and around) being chased by the dogs and laughing like a mad thing.. it’s been bloody lovely. Nothing much planned for the rest of the weekend to be honest. I’m hoping DH will be home before DS is in bed.. although he’s only managed that once in the last few weeks so I’m not holding out much hope!

lucysmam · 18/05/2024 13:50

@Muffin101 that sounds like a lovely morning 😊

@NeedthatFridayfeeling get your feet up with a brew or tipple!

Well weather has not improved around here! I had to meet with a couple that own a flat where I own one to talk about the managing agents, so had a nice brunch in posh part of town, sat outside as was warm enough. Then home to walk the dogs. Now waiting as have a group call booked with some people looking after my pets when I go in holiday. Then frankly not going to do much! Maybe some work on my Etsy shops.
For supper it's ravioli in mushroom sauce and garlic bread and watching the end of Masterchef on catchup.

Taytocrisps · 18/05/2024 14:00

Hope those of you with various ailments feel better soon.

It's chillier than I expected.

PearlKoala · 18/05/2024 14:04

Not really an exciting day here. I walked the dogs for an hour this morning. Came home, cleaned and made lunch for everyone, then I cut the grass, started digging a new bed in the garden and did some general weeding etc. Now I'm sat down for 5 mins until the washing machine is done then I'll hang out the clothes. I have to go pick something up from a friend after that and I've decided I'll walk and bring the dogs. After that Aldi to get some soil and a few bits for dinner, more gardening with said soil then make dinner, quick walk with the dogs again, go for a run, shower and chill out for a few hours with some embroidery. I live a wild life 😭

Churchview haven’t you been put off by the reports of all the sewage being dumped in the sea? I live near the beach but don’t think I’ll be going in the water this year 😢

RabbitsRock · 18/05/2024 14:29

Afternoon!
I've been for a bike ride, made dinner to save time later, and am now very impatiently waiting for the boxing to start in just over an hour.
