Weird shit that bothers you

That humans can't fly

That I won't live to see what the world is like in 1000s of years

That I can't breath underwater and just swim at the bottom of the ocean for however long I want

That I have to pay for stuff

That annual leave isn't as much as you want

Agree so so much on the war thing. It completely baffles me. My thinking is that circa 5% of humans are murderous sick psychopaths and these are the ones driven to rise to the most powerful positions in governments, companies, local communities. Once in those positions they take great pleasure in causing as much conflict as possible because it gives them intense pleasure. Meanwhile 95% of the population just want to chill out and live their lives but we never can because of the 5%.

Whoever invented taking eggs, flour, butter and milk that would magically turn themselves into a sponge cake! Amazing!

That people still don't understand the difference between breath and breathe. 🤬

Suchafrabjousday · 05/05/2024 09:26

That we have to poop.

Why can’t food just go in and it all gets used up by the body. Why do we have to end up with waste matter?

As an IBS sufferer I find pooping a complete inconvenience and not an enjoyable experience.

There are also many other things about the human body which aggravates me. It is an amazing piece of equipment but also so flawed on many levels that it irritates me.

When my bank account isn't rounded down to the nearest £ or £10. I know you can get apps and bank that do this but they don't work 100%, either a delayed transfer or goes to an account with complicated T&Cs. I love seeing clean rounded numbers as a bank balance. I now "tilly tidy" (MSE term) the pennies daily to an ISA.

LaWench · 05/05/2024 09:36

Also being able to turn periods and fertility on when we need it instead of dealing with periods and hormonal changes for 30- 40yrs.

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 05/05/2024 09:55

That everything I enjoy eating makes me fat and everything that helps me lose weight feels like punishment. I can't 'listen to my body' because mine gets it all wrong, I have to learn to mistrust myself. Its very confusing and feels unfair.

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 05/05/2024 10:03

@HumphreyCobblers me too! In a way I don't really believe in space! I trust the scientists so I do believe it to be there but I instinctively don't really believe any of it is possible, my brain cannot process it.

56% of the Scottish population are on benefits

Wow. I was curious about this so I looked up household level stats from a reliable source and in most areas of England and Wales the proportion of households recieving benefits is even higher than Scotland. Only East of England, South East of England and London had lower rates than Scotland.

UK state benefits by region 2022 | Statista

In 2021/22, 60 percent of households in Nort Eas England and Wales were receiving a type of state benefit, the highest among regions in the United Kingdom in that reporting year.

@WhoStoleMySpoonsAnd many of those claiming are also working but don’t get paid enough to survive. It the double whammy of businesses (many of which avoid taxes at every opportunity) relying on taxpayers to top up the low wages that they pay.

Those in pensions are, of course, also included in those statistics. The government does provide a breakdown Here.

Benefit Combinations to August 2022 (Experimental Statistics)

WhoStoleMySpoons · 05/05/2024 11:07

@TheGreatestSecretAgentInTheWorld I know. I wasn't benefit bashing in any way.

The way the economy is being managed is clearly very flawed and I hold the various governments, past and present, responsible for that, not the people who need help.

Thank you for the link. I'm just away to make a fresh cup of coffee and have a look.

That I'm not a multi millionaire. I'm pretty livid about it.

I'm annoyed that my lottery syndicate of nearly 30 years now hasn't won more than 80 pounds ! I doubt we will ever win the big one! lol

Why Waste Exists:

Indigestible Components: Despite our bodies' remarkable ability to extract nutrients from food, some parts are indigestible. For example, dietary fiber, which is essential for digestive health, cannot be fully broken down by human enzymes.

Bacterial Activity: The human gut is home to trillions of bacteria that aid in digestion. These bacteria ferment certain carbohydrates and produce gases and other byproducts that contribute to fecal matter.

Cell Turnover: The lining of the gastrointestinal tract undergoes continuous renewal, with old cells being shed and replaced by new ones. These dead cells contribute to the bulk of feces.

That we can’t record memories, would love to find a way to store memories like a hard drive. The fact that once we are gone all our memories and knowledge goes with us bothers me enormously.

Yes, there was a black mirror episode about this where you could record memories in your brain and play them back later. I wish we could do this.

Iloveyoubut · 05/05/2024 11:32

since early childhood I’ve wondered too often about the universe. Even if we discovered every inch of an everywhere there was to be, what’s that inside? How can there be sometime outside of that and that and that….. arrrgghhh I just can’t!

Ah but you know 80s that if you were to say "D'you what Brian, this Syndicate is a complete no-hoper , I'm going to throw the towel in and just buy a Lucky Dip each week".... they would scoop the Triple Roll Over and you'd be forced to murder them all in their sleep then hack into the accounts to add yourself again,

One of my biggest sadnesses in life is that I’ll never be able to time travel and see what different periods of history were like (ideally as an invisible observer so as not to mess things up or put myself in danger). I think about this most days!

I don't want strangers in my home!

70s ! Yep ., the one reason we carry on with our syndicate I think 😂

That buffets are a thing. I can't eat anything that is available to be touched by a ton of hands. Can't touch door handles or communal banisters or go to swimming pools anymore. Was a bit conscious pre Covid but since Covid it's been pathological.

madnessitellyou · 05/05/2024 12:08

That I have to go out to put petrol in my car. I can never be bothered. Even if I'm already out and about and need to pull into a petrol station I feel completely aggrieved.

People who use their time on earth to make things worse for others. On a small scale (like a cunt if a boss whose power and ego is only used to make others feel small and worthless) or a large scale, like Putin for example.

They're all going to die the same as the rest of us - in their final hour I really hope all of their worst moments come screaming back to them and they go 'oh, fu-' and that's it.

Our MP played key roles in scrapping maintenance grants for the poorest students and in allowing our waterways to become polluted with sewage. S/he also bears some responsibility for all the other sins committed by this government.

I can’t understand why anyone would want that as their legacy.
