Don't forget to vote today! And take ID.

That's all. I don't care how you vote. If there is an election today in your area, just do it.

There are people who would love it if you didn't and they are all over the internet! Even if you spoil your ballot - go! And don't forget ID.

Just been. DH and I were the 4th and 5th people to vote which was disconcerting. I hope more people go after work. Two women were on their way in as we left.

AbFabDaaaaahling · 02/05/2024 12:55

Well I suppose lots of people work so will go afterwards?

Spinet · 02/05/2024 12:58

Yeah hopefully lots later on. It's often quiet in the day. Where in the country are you @BlancheSaysYes ?

Won't be voting sadly, no one worth voting for.

BlancheSaysYes · 02/05/2024 12:59

Clwyd in North Wales. Currently conservative,

I'll vote, but it's only for a pointless role, Police & Crime Commissionaire.

It always reminds me of Commissionaire Gordon from the Adam West Batman programme.

Is it commissionaire? I thought it was commissioner. I much prefer commissionaire. It sounds like a Ferrero Rocher party type role.

I really don’t know anything about who to vote for. Wondering for a tactical vote to oust the blues but usually vote lib dems

WeightoftheWorld · 02/05/2024 13:04

Honestly I feel so disillusioned and like it's totally pointless, especially in my area (extremely safe for a particular party). But I am still going to go otherwise the history of the suffragettes haunts me...

Luddite26 · 02/05/2024 13:08

I was thinking this morning I'm not going as DH hasn't any photo id which will have to be sorted by GE so can't be bothered
Then I thought about the women who fought for my right to vote today and I just can't not.
As you say so many don't want people to vote. I will definitely go later today it's something I was just brought up to do and would feel bad not doing it.

RaininSummer · 02/05/2024 13:10

Need to go but cant bring myself to vote for any of them

Yay! Definitely go.

You could get DH to get voter ID today since it's on your mind? https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate

Apply for photo ID to vote (called a ‘Voter Authority Certificate’)

Apply for photo ID to vote (Voter Authority Certificate) in some elections and referendums in Great Britain if you do not have an accepted form of ID.

I voted. Nobody I really wanted but I didn't want the tories to win, so did it out of spite more than anything.

Now the general election that's different.

SpringLamby · 02/05/2024 13:27

No thanks.

Can't trust any of them.

I love voting out of spite. I think I'll be doing that too.

Same

WinkyTinky · 02/05/2024 13:33

I vote to cancel out DH's vote.

urbanbuddha · 02/05/2024 13:34

I voted this morning round about 8am. (London). They were queuing out the door when I got there. Admittedly it’s a very small polling station.

kalokagathos · 02/05/2024 13:36

All done last week via post!

Edited

The numbers at my polling station looked pretty good too.

Just bumping this for the after school crowd, since a thread about NOT voting is on active conversations!

OP posts:
Iwerbe · 02/05/2024 16:18

Round here it was only about police commissioner so I didn't bother.

Cattenberg · 02/05/2024 16:19

There’s no independent candidate standing here this time and I can’t bring myself to vote for any of the four parties standing, so for the first time ever I won’t be voting. I’ll be counting the votes later, though!

Cattenberg · 02/05/2024 16:22

It’s only a PCC election here, too. A low turnout would send its own message.
