Will you be voting in the general election?

Turn out rates are never fantastic. I have an awful fear it will be like the Brexit vote, so many people will assume a certain outcome they won't bother voting at all.

I think that I'm going to have to!

😁

shams05 · 30/04/2024 19:32

I really want to but not sure who it'll go to.

shams05 · 30/04/2024 19:34

We've had no canvassing besides from labour but I don't want to vote labour, no independent candidate in our area. The only other options are greens, Lib dem or Tory.
I'm stuck good and proper as are many others I've spoken to.

Women dies so we could have the vote, so of course I’ll vote. I live in a very safe Tory area, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t use our democratic right to change it. The Lib Dem candidate is the only one who has made an effort to leaflet, so it might be her.

To those with 2 X cromosomes, just remember women died so you could vote.

Why not just say women?

Clearinguptheclutter · 30/04/2024 19:37

everyone who can vote should vote. Women died for the right to vote ffs!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 30/04/2024 19:41

Favouritefruits · 30/04/2024 19:30

Yes I will! Women gave their lives to give me the vote I would want those deaths to be in vein

Absolutely!
None of those women who fought for the right for women to vote died in vain.
Even if you think all parties/candidates are as bad as each other, all you need to do is spoil your ballot paper to make your point.

I wonder what would happen (if anything) once all the votes were counted, the spoilt ballot papers were the majority?

Edited: added last paragraph

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 30/04/2024 19:42

Yes and voting Labour for the first time in quite a few years.

They are finally sensible again and I'm very much hoping we can oust the local SNP MP

MuggedByReality · 30/04/2024 19:55

Yes. I will vote for whichever centre / left candidate is best placed to beat the Conservative. Not that it will make any difference as I live in one of the safest True Blue Tory seats in the Midlands.

RishiSunak · 30/04/2024 19:56

Redshoeblueshoe · 30/04/2024 19:29

Yeah but honestly who will you vote for ?

That's a good question. I intrinsically think there is good in everyone and I don't want to be nasty to the opposition (I know I do a bit at PMQ but that's just theatre, as everyone knows.) When we are all in the (subsidised) bar, (mines an orange juice) we get on like a load of football chums. Come on up the Blues!
(Wish I had my rattle and scarf!

TiptoeThroughTheToadstools · 30/04/2024 20:14

This will be the 2nd election I haven't voted in and I am really gutted, but I can't give my support to any of them.

Catterbat · 30/04/2024 20:18

Yes I’ll be voting to get the tories out because they’ve literally destroyed the country and doing anything else would be insane.

LizTruss · 30/04/2024 20:19

Tricky,

Look what happens when people who don't know their anus from their cubitus vote.

You get me!!!

Parky04 · 30/04/2024 20:25

Yes, I will attend, but my vote will be spoilt.

Devonbabs · 30/04/2024 19:18

Are you concerned the leader can’t identify what a woman is, apologised for mentioning the word “cervix”? How can that protect women’s rights?

I hear too many people in the UK trying to avoid mentioning anything remotely associated with a bodily function so I am not too concerned about this.

Two of my DD's friends identify as trans, I am the last one to start a discussion on MN about this. The two are great people and have done nothing wrong and need save space to be themselves.

JockTamsonsBairns · 30/04/2024 20:32

I'll be voting. It's an abomination not to.

It's Labour for me. Anything to get the Tories out.

ActualCannibalShiaLeBeouf · 30/04/2024 20:34

We don't get to vote for some reason, ours is only for the Police and Crime Commissioner

So is ours so I shan't bother.

bakewellbride · 30/04/2024 20:39

I will spoil my paper, I hate them all (but especially the tories)

CrunchyCarrot · 30/04/2024 20:41

Yes, tactically to get rid of the Tories but that's very unlikely to happen where I live. Still, will give it a go!

FunkyMonks · 30/04/2024 20:42

It's all a disaster I can't stand tories labour or Lib Dem so all that's left is smaller parties which means none of them will get in 🙈.

Could do with the whole lot being kicked out.

FloofyBird · 30/04/2024 22:38

ActualCannibalShiaLeBeouf · 30/04/2024 20:34

Everyone will get to vote in the general election. You're thinking of the local elections which are taking place in many counties this year. We don't have a local one this year just the police and crime commissioner one like you.

I'll probably vote tactically as we live in a Tory stronghold. Although our Tory mp just defected to Labour and will be standing down at the next GE. So i don't actually know what that means when it comes to voting.

jollygreenpea · 30/04/2024 23:01

I have always voted and will continue to do so, after the scarifies made to enable me to have a vote.

The problem is I have no one to vote for.

I can't vote Tory for obvious reasons.

I can't vote Labour.

The Lib dems have been on the missing list for years, so it's a no for them.

The Greens don't seem capable of running anything.

We don't have any independents.
