Urgent help needed. Worried I won’t fit in a plane seat.

I’m due to fly in 2 days and I suddenly have an urgent panic that I’m not going to fit in the plane seat and will be humiliated in to getting off.

I don’t weigh myself so I don’t know how heavy I am but I wear a size 14/16 in stretchy jeans. I have a mothers apron and endo so I’m often bloated and wear a size 16/18 on top (although some 18s are quite big on me, depending on retailer). I often buy clothes in a size 20 to hide myself.

Our flight is with KLM. Are they on the smaller side? I feel sick with worry that I’m not going to fit.

The quote issue is annoying though. Why can't a quote be held in the message box, currently if you click on the next page it vanishes.
Although as you say, there is nothing wrong with giving advice after the event, it may be useful to other people reading the thread.

I have all posts on one page so can do this, maybe change your settings?

Good to hear @FlightPanic! Of course I wouldn't have worried at your size - I think size 22 and over is more problematic depending on how weight is distributed. I'm a 22 and flying in just over a month and it has definitely been a motivator to lose weight!
Hope your trip was fab.

I do question though, if there are pages and pages after the one you want to quote, are you really going to say anything that hasn't already? I really do think there's value in reading at least all the OPs posts before commenting.

Unless you're literally 3 foot tall, you'll have bags of room.

It's a discussion board. Does it really matter? Sometimes it's nice to see a big number of opinions all saying positive things.

I'm on the Web, not the app, so never thought. I'll take a look at settings, thank you.

Me too, I use the mobile site.

Thankyou for this. I never thought about the seat sizes. I am a lot bigger then when I last flew I'm going into a size 22! I want to loose weight as I am going to Florida next year with friends. if I manage to drop 2 sizes would that be better?

mynewusername2023 · 21/05/2024 12:19

I've flown as a size 28/30 and was ok (not amazingly comfortable). I needed a belt extender and as I was next to DH we had the arm rest up.

You'll be absolutely fine at your size.
