Cream cleaner! Like cif, works really quickly!

Gingerbee · 27/04/2024 10:51

Sterident denture tablets. Great gor cleaning tea cups, descaling kettles etc.
If whites looking a bit lack lustre soak in Sterident or put one in the wash.

Percarbonate of soda is amazing for this! My mum bought me some from France (although you can get it here haha) it's amazing just add two teaspoons to a cup with boiling water and leave to soak for a few hours it's amazing and very gentle / non toxic.

Dilute bleach in a sink full of cold water and leave them to soak.

This is what I have always done, and it works a treat.

Time to buy new crockery and start again. Or that's what I would do.

Try not to let tea, coffee sit in cups, rinse with water if you're not able to wash them up right away. Never have an issue with tea or coffee stains.

You don't need to buy new! The astonish cup cleaner shifts it all

Will definitely have a look. I do like a product!

I drink way too much tea, live in a very hard water area - limescale is a nightmare.
I often leave the bag in as like it strong & usually use same mug all day - lucky if it gets even gets rinsed between uses 😬😆
But have never had to do more than pop mugs in the dishwasher. They come out spotless. Amazed people are going to such extreme lengths to clean mugs!

terrifyingtoes · 27/04/2024 11:51

I wonder if people are in fact making the mugs more susceptible to staining by all this bleaching/scrubbing etc. I was very put off having my teeth whitened for this very reason!

reluctantbrit · 27/04/2024 11:57

I drink tea black, several cups a day in the same mug. The only times I have stains normal washing up is not getting out, is when my kettle needs descaling or my Brita filter needs a new cartrige.

So, maybe once a month for a day. Then salt is absolute enough.

Any tips for removing 'bloom' from glass?
I've tried, with little or no effect...
vinegar and bi-carb
Vinegar and soda crystals
Viakal
Sponge/scratchy thing.

Isitisit · 27/04/2024 12:00

Microfibre cloth with washing up liquid and hot water cleans it perfectly

pelotonaddiction · 27/04/2024 12:13

@MillshakePickle
First pic after scrubbing with a scrubby sponge
Second after using the astonish (that's a crack at the bottom!)

I didn't have a really heavily stained cup to test

Astonish The Good One cleaning paste and a sponge. I used to use Magic Sponge, but that seems to have lost its magic! Steradent works on flasks etc, but doesn't seem to work on my china mug! The Good One is made from natural ingredients.
I'm not keen on bleach either for removing stains.

NotMeNoNo · 27/04/2024 12:33

The OP doesn't have a dishwasher!

Dishwasher detergent must have a bleaching element in it as you never get tea stains. But probably not a safe ingredient for hand washing.

WinterNightStars · 27/04/2024 12:36

Definitely the denture tablets

whoami24601 · 27/04/2024 13:03

Also here to suggest Astonish clean & revive. Just put a spoonful in your mug and add hot water. You can actually watch the stains peel off. Very satisfying!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 27/04/2024 13:18

Bleach
