Hi,

i’ve been made aware that somebody I know might of taken speeding points for their partner. apparently he already had quite a few points so she has taken three points to avoid him getting a ban. Is this not a major offence? I feel like I need to report it. WWYD?

EatCrow · 24/04/2024 16:53

Why do you feel you need to report it?

Why do you feel you need to report it?

I just feel that it’s a major issue. Fraudulent

Because it’s a serious crime?

I would think it has anything to do with me OP.

You don’t know the circumstances around the previous points and driving could be his lively hood. There are traffic cameras all over where I live and most streets are 20, it’s incredibly easy to accidentally go over when the roads are busy.

Devilshands · 24/04/2024 16:55

I'd report. People get points because they are dangerous drivers. This person sounds like they are a massive risk the road if they have that many bloody points already. They should be banned before they kill someone and if that requires reporting them to the police/other authorities, I would do it in a heart beat.

Lampslights · 24/04/2024 16:56

lol why do you need to report it op? And how would you prove it. It is their word against yours.

i mean I could report you for shit. But unless I’ve evidence it’s all rather pointless isn’t it,

Greywitch2 · 24/04/2024 16:57

How do you know? Who has 'made you aware'?

Frankly if you call the police they won't be interested in gossip. Unless you have actual physical proof that the other person was driving then there is no point 'reporting' it.

If they were caught by a speed camera then there is evidence as to who was driving.

How very dramatic.

I was asking the OP.

MonsteraMama · 24/04/2024 16:59

How do you know? You're going to report someone to the police based on second hand information that may or may not be true?

Keep your nose out.

Not really. You don't get points for doing 22 in a 20, do you?

If you do get them repeatedly, then you're cunt and bad driver and shouldn't be on the roads. Roads are dangerous enough as it is these days without more cunts on them.

So they might have? So your plan is to cause them an almighty shit show based on a piece of gossip you heard? What business is it of yours anyway?

Bogeyes · 24/04/2024 17:01

Chances are he will do it again. Will she continue taking the blame? I doubt it

So what, should have been more careful, especially with his history-taking points for someone else is a crime!

If it’s his livelihood, you’d think he’d be super careful!

LakeTiticaca · 24/04/2024 17:05

"Might have" taken points for someone else.
A bit flimsy don't you think?
The police probably get allsorts of busybodies ringing them with things someone "Might have" done. Unless you have confirmed evidence you should keep your sticky beak out

DurhamDurham · 24/04/2024 17:08

I think, unless you know for definite, you don't report it. You could cause all sorts of aggro for someone, is it worth the hassle if you don't even know if it's actually true?

If driving is possibly his livelihood. Then surely you don't drive like a bellend in the first place

Even if you weren’t sure the Police have ways of checking this out.

If its their livelihood they should have driven more carefully.

And its not easy to go over the speed limit if you're paying attention

I just gave an example, and like I said I don’t know the real circumstances, his could be different reasons.
The 22 in a 20 is very relevant to where I live, the amount of people it catches out, I’m not talking about myself either!

I wouldn’t want to be responsible for potentially messing up someone else’s livelihood based on what they overheard. And… how is OP even going to prove it?
