Horses Running Free in Central London

Melontree · 24/04/2024 10:18

I just saw this breaking piece. One of the horses is bleeding/has blood on it. They're both saddled and bridled - I can't imagine what's happened here. I'm sure there'll be an explanation at some point, but I truly hope the horses and riders are okay.

Anyone in the area seen/heard anything?

Two horses, one covered in blood, run loose in central London

Metropolitan police say they are trying to locate the animals seen running near Aldwych

So what?

The Field article is very long and quite technical in parts. The Speccie article is short and aimed at ordinary readers.

So what?

Apart from lifting some of it word for word?

Lazy.

Technical? I'm an ordinary reader who has zero experience with horses and found it very interesting.

I’m also sure they get together and decide who is going to injure themselves in some obscure and random way.

@alloalloallo have they been taking tips from local sheep?

Catsmere · 29/04/2024 20:24

Twonewcats · 05/06/2024 22:00

Is it a bit concerning that one of the riders is in the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre? I don't know much about it, but it seems to be for pretty serious injuries

Agreed

Wonderful news, thank you @CaveMum !

I loved this - "Vida, the Cavalry Grey, wasted no time in turning from white to brown as he rolled in the grass." 😆

PuttingDownRoots · 05/06/2024 22:31

Lovely update.

I hope the civilian injured has made a good recovery as well.

Agreed

Agree too.
But at least they are expected to make a full recovery.

Does anyone know if the army riders wear any sort of body protection or padded helmets?
I always think it looks like they are in metal helmets and jackets all style and zero actual protection

During day to day riding they wear the usual hard hats, it’s only for ceremonial duties they wear the old fashioned ones. Not sure about body protectors though.

It doesn't say the soldiers are expected to make a full recovery. It says they're expected to return to military duties.
