To think this list of uniform rules means girls can wear shorts and trousers?

Thoughts? DD4 is due to start reception in September, and only really likes shorts and trousers. I'm cool to get her those, right? Not breaking uniform rules is it??

It doesn't list boys and girls anywhere. Boys could wear a summer dress based on that uniform policy.

And tbh, if trousers were what worked best for my DD, I'd send her in those regardless because I'd have no time for a policy that insisted girls wear skirts and dresses. I follow school rules generally, but not ones like that.

Most schools just have a list of what they need now, with no boy/girl. However you might like to take a peek at the school, because if you get that and no other wears then you may find her coming home and saying "I want to have a pinafore like all the other girls..." or similar.
They do often, but not always, want to be like everyone else and I've known a few parents in the situation that they've got the uniform their dc wanted/liked but when they've got there, changed their mind because they're the only one - or their best friend has something different.

Or they may start a trend of their own. Ds started a trend of wearing the sweatshirt backwards. I don't know how, but he always got it on backwards (and his shorts too on games days) and somehow this took off among his form and you'd see half of them coming out with their sweatshirts backwards.
