If you were given a box full of every item you've ever lost, what would you look for first?

Mine would be a stuffed toy that was lost in a house move when I was 9. (I don't need a psychologist to tell me it represented more than an actual toy!)

My wedding ring

A small jointed teddy that wore a tiny crown from my Nana that I took into exams as good luck. I fell ill during one exam, a mock A-level, after falling down the stairs the night before and banging my head and I was taken out of the hall after a friend noticed I had fainted. When someone collected my belongings, everything else was there apart from my little teddy. That was 34 years ago and I'm still sad.

A £5 coin that's in a lovely crushed velvet box, it was given as a gift when I started work at 16 by two people who were the best surrogate grandparents I ever could have wished for. It has a lovely handwritten note in it, saying it's for luck, and I can never ever say I'm truly broke as I will always have this coin.

I suspect it's in my exes house as he bought me out, and it's in some box in the loft somewhere. Luckily I get on fab with him so of he ever finds it he will pass it on.

A few things but the first thing would be my mums old Be Ro cookbook

she died at the age of 54 in 2000 and i know I deffo had the book after she died as it had a lot of memories but i think it fell down the back of a drawer and i never found it again

A gold (not real) bow ring brought for me by my mum
A pair of blue and black earrings (80s) my late DB brought me. I think I lost only 1 of them

The diamond from my engagement ring. It fell out and has been lost ever since. ☹️

A charm bracelet my nana bought me before she died. It wasn't lost though. Step dad pawned it to gamble.

A crocheted cardigan that I left hanging in a toilet in Turkey almost 30 years ago.

The recipe for y grandfathers tray bake. It was the only thing he bakes and it was delicious. It was sticky rice crispies stuck together with cherries and chocolate on top. It was written in his hand writing speeches though all my dgps cook books and can't find it anywhere

CrushingOnRubies · 21/04/2024 22:49

Oh and the letter detailing why I was gifted elephant poo in Africa. That was quite the adventure and that letter was the only tangible thing I have to it

My diamond studs that belonged to my mum.

A baby outfit, just a little pair of soft dungarees and top, but it was the first outfit my then DH chose for DS1. Also a little hand knitted cardigan with a hood which fitted perfectly and was so much easier to keep on than a hat - a gift from an elderly neighbour when DS1 was born. Both were carefully packed away along with the rest of the baby things. We moved house while I was pregnant with DS2 and those two things were never seen again, while all the other baby items arrived safely. I was so sad not to get to use them again for DS2 and still wonder what happened to them. DS1 is nearly 30!

Apart from the odd earring and watch, the thing(s) I mostly lose are nail clippers. If I were to find them all, there would be quite a lot!!!
