What pram do/did you have and would you buy it again?

Thinking of our options. Can’t believe most are over £1000.

Realistically we have a small house and will probably use a compact pushchair (such as the Butterfly or yoyo) after 9 months or so.

We are on the hunt for a pram with a carrycot and seat, good suspension, which won’t take up too much room in our two up two down house. We do have a downstairs WC we could keep it in if needed.

Not bothered about a travel system as purchasing a safer car seat separately

We are thinking about

Mamas and Papas Ocarro
Joie Versatrax
Nuna Mixx

Any others? Ideally spending less than a grand, even better if around the £500 mark.

Hi, the yo-yo can have the newborn pack and be used from the start if you didn’t want to buy 2 prams. Many people I know have used them from birth, but again it depends on your lifestyle. They’re not great for walking across fields and rocky terrain for example, but if you live in a city, they are ideal.

The Ocarro is a beautiful pram, but it’s a beast!! Very heavy and very very large. The dimensions far exceeded my Silvercross Pioneer, which I loved and would recommend. I think Silvercross have changed their prams recently however. An Ocarro in a small house won’t go unnoticed, so I wouldn’t recommend.

The nuna is a brilliant pram, and I would say out of your list, it would fit the bill the most.

Icandy Orange; and yes, in a heartbeat.

Wouldn’t buy the butterfly again, I’d go for a YoYo, but not as a main pram. The icandy folds up pretty small and is great, has lasted us well to 2.5.

My daughter is due to have her first child any day now. She and her partner have very well paid jobs and they live very comfortably in a lovely house. However, she has bought most of her baby goods from Facebook marketplace in her local area, she did not see the point of buying expensive new things that only get used for a few months - apart from the car seat. She got a lovely pushchair with all the gubbins for £250, a next to me crib for £20 ( just bought a new mattress) an IKEA cot, never used, for £25 and a few other things as well. Her latest find was an immaculate Tripp Trapp high chair, with baby insert, for £50. Although she does not need the high chair initially, she said it was too good a bargain not to get it so it is now stored in my garage!

I was prepared to buy her the pram but she just refused to pay over £1000 for a new one. You need to be quick though as good quality baby items seem to get snatched up immediately.

I reckon one of the reasons why she has plenty of disposable income is because she buys most household items second hand! She sells quite a lot on Facebook as well.

100% out n about 360. I run with it, long walks through fields with the dogs etc. absolutely brilliant

whatafuckinnightmare · 12/04/2024 13:44

The Icandy lime is great. Can be taken completely apart, even the wheels.

CleanSheetsCupOfTea · 12/04/2024 14:19

I had an ocarro for DD and switched to the icandy orange last year when we had DS as can be used as a double.

The ocarro was okay, I didn’t love it and wouldn’t buy it again. It’s quite heavy and clunky, the carry cot attachment isn’t very spacious. I liked that it folded up as one but it was very heavy folded.

The icandy orange I love! I got it on Amazon for £500 and then bought an extra seat so I could use it as a double. I used it as a double for 6 months and now I use it as a single for DS and DD rides on the built in buggy board. It’s lighter and nicer to push than the ocarro and the carry Cot is more spacious. It’s quite bulky folded as one with the seat attached but I always remove the seat to fold. DD is 3.5 and still fits comfortably in the seat if she’s tired and needs a rest.

tealandteal · 12/04/2024 14:25

I love the versatrax, I had basically the same pram with my youngest 5 years ago but it wasn’t parent and world facing. It folds up and fits in the boot of my mini.

ClonedSquare · 12/04/2024 14:33

Our main pram when he was a baby was a Bugaboo Lynx. I'd buy it again any day. It seemed to have all the benefits of the top of the line ones, but be slightly cheaper (I think it was about £2-300 cheaper than the Fox).

Our current pram is a travel pram, the Joolz Aer. Again, I'd recommend it 100%. It folds up so small that it's perfect for our tiny entryway or the boot of a small car. Lightweight to carry and my son seems to find it comfortable.

Snowpaw · 12/04/2024 14:38

Don't buy new is my advice. We got a full silver cross travel system (minus the car seat) for approx £200 secondhand. Pristine and in good condition.

TheCraicDealer · 12/04/2024 14:48

At the risk of introducing another option, I would go with a Bugaboo Bee. I have an older Bee but they’ve introduced a newer version (Bee 6) which has a few features I think really improve what was already a great pram. It stands on its own when folded, but also folds flat so you could easily hang it on to the back of a door with appropriate hooks if space is an issue. You can also buy a carrycot for it, which can be purchased separately secondhand off Vinted or EBay. Suspension is great for a pram of this type.

The YoYo and other travel/super-compact prams are great but their small size means you’re often compromising on some features like an option to parent-face, adjustable handlebar, larger seat, storage basket size or weight limit. If you’re looking for something to use daily for a long time I would go for something like the Bee or iCandy Lime.

Stokke X-plory. It was fantastic. Parent facing with both pram and pushchair which was my biggest priority. Lasted both DC.

WeightoftheWorld · 12/04/2024 15:09

Cosatto Wow and yes I would. Although we got it substantially reduced years ago when Toys R Us were closing down so it was an absolute steal. We are still using it now with our 2.5yo, almost 6yrs after we started using it with DC1.

Upinthenightagain · 12/04/2024 15:12

I had a few with my first that I hated. Got an uppababy when she was 1 and she was still using it over 3. Dd2 I got an uppababy from the get go and she’s 3.5 now and still comfy in it. I bought an older model so it was a bit cheaper

GodspeedJune · 12/04/2024 15:16

I had a silver cross reef first which was so awful I’d never buy silver cross again. Not cheap either.

Replaced it with a bugaboo fox 5 and cannot fault it. Brilliant pram. You could buy a fox 3 brand new for around your budget, there’s only marginal differences and you still get a 4 year warranty.

annahay · 12/04/2024 16:15

We have the uppababy vista. We love it and I would buy it again. It is quite big though, but the cruz is similar and a bit smaller I think.

BertieBotts · 18/04/2024 12:26

Cybex Balios S Lux 2023 looks good.

Also I would see if you can try any Maxi Cosis. My best one ever was Bebeconfort Loola Up but I don't think they make it any more. (Bebeconfort is Maxi Cosi).

Newhere5 · 18/04/2024 12:32

I’ve had occaro
Love this buggy - currently being used by our second child. I bought it used from FB marketplace for £220 - you can find used one in very good condition

Rubylu · 18/04/2024 18:57

We have the nuna mixx, it’s a beautiful pram really sturdy and you can really feel the quality, the only thing is it’s so heavy, big and chunky and I do wish we’d have got something a bit more lightweight!

northernlass81 · 18/04/2024 19:00

Out n about 360 by far. Nothing pushes as easily as this and very reasonably priced compared to some of the bigger names. You can get a carry cot but it lies flat so we just used the seat from birth. A dream off road and around shops.

BakeOffRewatch · 18/04/2024 19:01

I bought a 2016 M&P Ocarro in near perfect condition off Facebook in 2020 for £120 with bassinet and accessories including car seat, though I bought a new one. The person’s house was like a show home - it does take time and patience to find the right deal. I lived in a Tony house and kept it in the boot of my car. I bought new wheels for it that were more appropriate for the way I used it, and a new mattress for the bassinet, M&P are really good with spares. Absolutely would purchase again and they have a refurbishment service which I’m going to use before next one arrives.

Mushroo · 18/04/2024 19:06

We have a fox3 and I really like it! We started out with a smaller pram but it felt really flimsy and I wasn’t enjoying going for walks around the park.

The Fox3 is great and such a smooth push. It’s also pretty light for an all terrain pram. The hood on the bassinet is massive and it does a better job of blocking than other models where the hood isn’t as large (eg the iCandy peach)

It’s also a bargain right now because Bugaboo has released the Fox5 so you can get some bargains.

MamaBear2210T · 18/04/2024 19:09

Icandy peach. DS is 2 and love it still

Leftleg · 18/04/2024 21:35

Uppababy vista, I would recommend.
