What pram do/did you have and would you buy it again?

Thinking of our options. Can’t believe most are over £1000.

Realistically we have a small house and will probably use a compact pushchair (such as the Butterfly or yoyo) after 9 months or so.

We are on the hunt for a pram with a carrycot and seat, good suspension, which won’t take up too much room in our two up two down house. We do have a downstairs WC we could keep it in if needed.

Not bothered about a travel system as purchasing a safer car seat separately

We are thinking about

Mamas and Papas Ocarro
Joie Versatrax
Nuna Mixx

Any others? Ideally spending less than a grand, even better if around the £500 mark.

Best pushchair we used was a mamas and papas armadillo. Used it for 6 years two children, big enough for older children to recline and sleep in, huge hood that provided shade, and it folded up tiny. It was recommended to us from a few parents and I couldn't fault it.
Don't spend a lot at this stage, save your pennies for later down the line when children become more expensive. The amount we spent on shoes alone is eye watering......

Also adore my Uppababy Vista, just about to retire it after 6 years and 2 DC continual use. It's huge though.

The Cruz is also good but probably still bigger than you want.

I think they have a lightweight competitor now - the minui or something like that? I'd check it out as the build quality on the Vista and Cruz is excellent.

I didn’t like the yo-yo basinette and thought it looked uncomfy for the child as a stroller so we got a Leclerc influencer instead.

very happy with the choice.
it has limited space underneath but all the lightweight ones do and I don’t care about that.

I bought an uppababy for DC1 and loved it it's built like a tank but I know you don't want a bulky travel system so I'd recommend an out n about nipper. I bought it for DC3 and she is now five and I still have it. It can lay fully flat and I was very comfortable using it for tiny premature DC3 and it's a dream to roll.

we got the Mamas and Papas Ocarro and it’s alright. It looks nice but if you want to take up less space then there are better options. I’m currently using it with our second. If I had to do it again I would go for a different one most likely. I like the look of the ones that can be used as car seats. I think that would be a nice way of transferring to and from the car and just make things a bit easier.

Bugaboo dragonfly. Just received mine yesterday for my 5 month old. Wish I bought it months ago and used the carrycot too! As it folds up with carrycot and seat! One hand fold. Compact. I cannot see myself getting a new pram now! In love with mine

NotMeekNotObedient · 18/04/2024 22:04

I got the Joie Chrome DLX. Still using it 2.5yrs later. Cheap but brilliant.

I love the big basket, big hood, wheels are sturdy, it can go over rough ground pretty well.

It's from the same parent company as the nuna - if you look at the frames it's almost identical to the Mixx, just cheaper.

I think with prams it's hard to recommend one as it really depends on your needs.

I keep mine in the car boot as also have quite a small house.

Essie274 · 18/04/2024 22:04

We had the Ocarro for DS1. I absolutely loved it. Great pram, folds really small considering the space you get in the seat itself and how sturdy it is/the wheels are. Huuuuuge storage basket too, I used to get most of a weekly shop under there Grin. I used it off-road a lot (over fields, cobbles, etc) and I thought it was wonderful...

and then I ended up with my Out n About Nipper Double (because I had DS2 and needed a double - I was so sad to stop using the ocarro) and was SOLD. My children are now 4 and 2 and I'm still using it because I don't want to get rid. It is ridiculously easy to push, i've not found a boot I couldn't fit it into (including my SIL's KA!) and it is just fab. I always thought I'd go back to the ocarro if only needing a single, but I'll go for an out n about single instead now

I used the Nuna mix with my first two children. Beautiful pram but only used for around 9 months before I converted to an umbrella silvercross pop stroller ! Too bulky to be a compact pram after the first few months

But I won't be doing that with the dragonfly!

TakeMe2Insanity · 18/04/2024 22:06

With dc1 years ago we had the bee - fantastic.
dc2 bought dragonfly thinking same spec from reading blurb first trip out had major problem with mud/leaves getting stuck. We Ended up getting it replaced by bugaboo fox cub -fantastic. We’ll definitely need a toddler one later.

Mistralli · 18/04/2024 22:14

Had the Joie Finiti which was fantastic during carry cot and car seat phase, and is still doing good service as a pushchair (front facing or rear facing). It cost me £750 for the carry cot, car seat, car seat base, all water proof covers. The only extra thing that might have been handy was a sun parasol, but we have managed without. The basket underneath is huge, and comes with a handy zip bag that I tend to use instead of a handbag these days.

I do find it a little unwieldy and heavy to lift, but you can collapse it one handed. However, it feels so much more study and stable to push compared to lightweight pushchairs, and we've taken it over some pretty atrocious terrain. The handle height adjustment makes it comfortable for me or my husband to push.

There will be options that are better for specific lifestyles and priorities, but I've found it a great all rounder.

Basic maclaren techno and would do the same again

Isitisit · 18/04/2024 22:16

We were going to go for Nina Mixx Next but went for the Triv Next instead. Very similar but 3kg lighter!
