Shiny Happy People

Northernsouloldies · 08/04/2024 22:45

Build me up buttercup
Reminds me of an episode of come dine
When host had the original singer do it in her front room for the guests
That was painful to watch.

AnnetteKurtan · 08/04/2024 22:46

Tina makes me leave, esp proud Mary . And I don’t mind her as a person I just reckon her songs are shit

Love Shack (probably my most hated song ever)
Meatloafs stuff

Foragerer · 08/04/2024 22:47

Move on up. I can't stand it

don't go on many dance floors these days but that beyoncé texas song would soon get me off.

😆me too

thepastinsidethepresent · 08/04/2024 22:51

Shout. Can't stand it!

And anything by the Beatles.

thomasinacat · 09/04/2024 00:11

Sweet Caroline, loathe it, and all the idiots that have to shout along to it anywhere it's played. bah bah baaaaahhhh. shut up. Seems to be played at school events a lot, on loud speakers.

Come on Eileen and Love Shack were rammed down our throats for years. And Walking on Sunshine, everyone looks a right wally dancing to that fast tempo.

Who let the dogs out?

My now 24 year old entertained us in his highchair singing this 😂He is now making his fortune in Vancouver…he could obviously talk the talk aged 2😊

Sweet Caroline. I can't stand it.

I hear this song EVERY week because I live next to a pub and they do karaoke on a Saturday night.

isthismylifenow · 09/04/2024 07:42

The only one that I would leave the dance floor for, is Jerusalema (and any line dance really), but the only reason is that I have no rhythm and cannot follow the steps (thanks dyspraxia). I love to watch everyone else doing it though.

40andlovelife · 09/04/2024 07:45

Proud Mary by Tina turner.
The sight of Middle Aged women bouncing their heads up and down really annoys me .

converseandjeans · 09/04/2024 07:47

Dancing Queen
Love Shack
I Got You (feel good)
Mambo Number 5
Livin on a Prayer

Oh you poor poor thing 💐

CupOfTeaNoSugar · 09/04/2024 13:45

Not much really🤣

Come On Eileen is close though.
It just conjures up an image of annoying drunk people singing really loudly, arms around each other kicking their legs in the air.
Maybe I’m having a flashback and I was one of them louts in my youth 🤭

Tallerinanotherdimension · 09/04/2024 17:45

So much hate for anyone middle aged on here 😐

The problem I have with ' come on Eileen ' are the lyrics as I feel he is pressurizing her to have it away with him because she's wearing a nice dress. (Or maybe I'm wrong it's just ' oh , Eileen please go out with me ' ?! )
It's a grubby song and that all looked like they needed a good wash in the video!
Sweet Caroline is annoying , but I don't mind the bah bah bits for a singalong. Been played to death though.
( It's also better than ' love on the rocks ' )
Anything like the Macarena I have to sit out as I can't do the actions in time.
It's an art form any song that has actions to it maybe YMCA isn't too bad though !

I'm finding that dispiriting too. It's as if middle-aged people should just fade into the background and stop embarrassing themselves and leave stuff like dancing to the young. Middle-aged people like to dance too, shock horror!

Mumofyellows · 10/04/2024 10:25

We are family
Oops upside your head
I will survive
River deep mountain high
Proud Mary
I wanna dance with somebody
Anything by Gary Glitter (at a wedding recently I caused huge drama by suggesting maybe we shouldn't be dancing to it...weird)

Mumofyellows · 10/04/2024 10:27

Can I add Sweet Caroline please. Yuck.

StampOnTheGround · 10/04/2024 10:31

Happy - Pharrell Williams 🤢🤢

I'd forgotten about that one. My pedantry really comes to the fore, as rooms have ceilings not roofs. Unless you're a medieval peasant.

TimeandMotion · 10/04/2024 21:12

More of a Lionel Richie fan then @TeabySea ?

Not really- Blancmange maybe 😅

Screamingabdabz · 10/04/2024 23:23

I’m middle aged but most of the music mentioned on this thread makes me cringe. So much great music and yet weddings always have that shit 1960s bit, the cheesy crap from the 80s (wham etc), the naff ‘anthems’ Mr Brightside baffles the shit out of me - it’s such a dirge.

I’m usually stomping off the dance floor bullying the DJ to put on a bit of Niki Minaj. Or frankly anything from the fucking 21st century!
