Murder on the Dancefloor. Sealed the deal on my feelings about Saltburn when it came on at the end.

Ghost in my house
The snake
And any other pretend Northern soul record spun by a wedding DJ.

You don't like The Snake?!!!

Northernsouloldies · 08/04/2024 20:25

Nooooo,it's one of the most hated records on the nsoul scene.

Aw, that's a shame. I think it's a great track, whether it's "cannon" or not.

greezelouise · 08/04/2024 20:35

Tina Turner - Proud Mary. If anyone does that stupid rolling part i cringe and die inside. I have no real reason why i just cannot stand it

Edited

Thought that was just me! Everyone else seems to love it 🥴

LunaNorth · 08/04/2024 22:20

The Locomotion - especially Kylie’s version.
The 90s cover of The Timewarp.

lavenderboux · 08/04/2024 22:21

Sweet Caroline. I can't stand it.

TheWelshposter · 08/04/2024 22:21

Don't Stop Believin'.
I don't mind the song itself but usually it's too slow to do a proper dance to, but everyone still tries.

bookmarket · 08/04/2024 22:23

Robbie Williams - Angels

Moveoverdarlin · 08/04/2024 22:25

House of Fun - Madness
Mustang Sally - The Commitments

LunaNorth · 08/04/2024 22:26

I never minded Sweet Caroline until the absolute lads got hold of it and started bellowing ‘SO GOOD! SO GOOD! SO GOOD!’ in the middle of the chorus.

Now it makes me cringe all my mucous membranes into a knot.

bookmarket · 08/04/2024 22:26

HullaBallu · 08/04/2024 19:49

This may be a controversial opinion but I find Dancing Queen impossible to dance to. [hides]

Agreed. The only thing you can do to it is sing along and do pointing actions at your friends.

LunaNorth · 08/04/2024 22:27

Don’t Stop Me Now is a twat to dance to. All you can really do is jig on the spot and point a bit.

Haha true. Lots of arms in the air wafting about. I'm laughing at what moves you'd pull to that one.
I immediately leave the floor if the following are played...
Build me up buttercup
Brown eyed girl
Chelsea dagger
Anything by the killers
New York New York (think weddings)

ScotttCheggg · 08/04/2024 22:29

Any Whitney Houston or Tina Turner, and all of the ones mentioned in the OP. Also Justin Timberlake.

TulipTuesday · 08/04/2024 22:35

I usually love a cheesy party dance but leg it from the dance floor when Dancing Queen plays.

I was at a 60th party a few months ago and The Macarena played, I only got up cos my friend’s 6yo DD wanted to dance with me, but before we knew it we had everyone behind us in a straight line doing all the actions. I was nowhere near drunk enough for that kind of crap and it was very cringe. Goes to show I love that kid, I’ll remind her when she’s older.
