Do you think there's ANYTHING at all on Mumsnet that people won't argue about?

I mean anything at all? 🤣 Names, cities, dogs, cats, clothes, pasta (of all things), the list is endless. Man, I love this place. 😀

I’m NC with my family, I’ve fallen out with all my friends, this is the only place I can find people who are willing to argue with me now.
😉😁😁

It's got to the stage now that I can read the title of a thread and accurately predict what the arsey responses will be. It's enormous fun, but also a bit depressing.

I also make a game of it sometimes. When I read an opening post which makes it completely clear that OP is not BU, I try to anticipate how this one poster will manage to make everything completely her fault. And someone always tries. Weird.

Trainer socks versus full length, try that

WorriedMillie · 03/04/2024 13:47

They’ll be arguing about this thread next 🤣🤣🤣

MonsteraMama · 03/04/2024 13:57

It boggles my mind how personal people get when defending their point of view on here. It gets so nasty so quickly. The art of friendly debate and discussion has died, now it's just "you disagree with me so you're a moron" followed by personal insults. Or the really sarky comments dripping with superiority and self importance. Usually ending with "how bizarre"

I disagree with lots of people, I like to talk about it, not rage and froth and insult every member of their family over it 😂

Mn in a nutshell

Aibu to really love the colour blue
The comments - ew blue is disgusting, it's dark and cold, blue is only for boys, some people have no taste...

Aibu to really hate the colour blue
The comments - blue is the best every other colour is worse, there must be something wrong with you, boden only sells blue, Blue is peaceful, scoff I bet you like RED...

Sounds like my 16 YO DS tbf 😂😆🤣 me "oh look. A lovely blue sky"......

No

FusionChefGeoff · 03/04/2024 14:52

This mornings' karma for the bill splitter one was notable for having a completely unanimous response. I did keep waiting for the 'there's always one' to show up who'd find the most tenuous counter argument, but no, everyone agreed it was a simply beautiful moment.

Soubriquet · 03/04/2024 14:54

Nope. Some people can argue with a plastic bag

Whatsthepickle · 03/04/2024 14:59

Op was there any need to say 'Man' in your post? Smacks of internalised misogyny if you ask me.

Love the current thread about bill-splitting, there’s no argument there.

I’d guess if there’s no argument, there aren’t usually enough replies for the thread to show in Trending.

Got to disagree with you there 😜🤣
There's a whole sub thread within it of people arguing over whether just having water with a meal out is normal or not. And if you are going to go out, it is parsimonious to just have one course etc.
Yup, people can find any reason to pick a fight anywhere.

FortunataTagnips · 03/04/2024 15:00

The wallpaper thread was absolutely hilarious. Someone was taking it very personally.

the80sweregreat · 03/04/2024 15:03

The Pasta thread was interesting
( it has made me look up pasta makers though !

Happyinarcon · 03/04/2024 15:39

I get fed up when I read through threads about ghosts or the supernatural and a bunch of people jump in and insist that ghosts don’t exist. I don’t care whether they exist or not, I just want to read some good ghost stories.

Lanawashington · 03/04/2024 11:01

I sometimes find that the style & beauty threads are the worst for this. The £1.5k handbag thread is a good example, rather than people just ignoring it if they have nothing useful to add, they feel the need to come on and berate people for their spending choices and act all sanctimonious by saying they would give it to charity, and then argue with anyone who tells them they missed the point of the thread. It happens so often

Just buy a trumpet or a Lalique vase hun.

IIRC there has been extensive debate on the status of Jaffa Cakes in far more hallowed places than the pits of mumsnet.

I believe Jaffa Cakes have been proclaimed cakes.

Yes if it was one or two people ,but there are usually loads of posters giving their often frankly dangerous advice drowning out the sensible advice .
