Just for fun! If you had severe food aversions in pregnancy, what gender was your baby?

Apparently research says there is a link between food aversions and having a boy. I’m not bothered which we have, a girl or boy is a blessing, but wondered if there is a link?

The thought of every food is making me want to vomit! Even plain biscuits/carbs are making me feel sick. I’m a bit better when the food is put in front of me but the whole choosing and cooking process makes me want to be 🤢

The only tolerable thing I’ve found is Coca Cola!

I went off bacon massively - the smell of it even being cooked made me sick. Chicken also made me uncomfortable 😂
If I could have eaten a burger every single day, I would have been happy! I had a girl :)

Xanadu58 · 02/04/2024 16:54

I couldn't bear the smell or sight of tomatoes and anything with cheese. I had a girl .

Boomer55 · 02/04/2024 16:56

Both. I had a girl the first time, and a boy the second.

Both for me too, it happened with DS and DD.

SpeculatingRooks · 02/04/2024 17:01

I've had 4 pregnancies, 3 were fine could eat anything.

One was terrible, I went off all my favourite foods, couldn't stand red or yellow food, so no pizza, pasta meals, meat etc all I could stomach was white foods "clean" food to my mind, so philadelphia on white bread, plain white rice, boiled egg but only the white part!

The ok pregnancies were girls, the white diet was a boy.

InTheShallowTheShalalalalalalalow · 02/04/2024 17:01

8 pregnancies, 3 boys, 5 girls.

The only aversions I had were meat, one with boy number 2 and one with girl number 4.

The rest of them I couldn't get enough rare steak with.

Funnily enough though my son is a veggie and has been for years and years, and my daughter isn't keen on meat and will probably be a veggie when she's a bit older.

CanNeverThinkOfAName · 02/04/2024 17:02

No food aversions. I’m a vegetarian and I didn’t feel a desire to eat meat or fish while pregnant either, in fact I felt more disgusted by it!

I did have a strong metallic taste in my mouth (didn’t affect me eating, it was noticeable when I wasn’t hence not really stopping!) throughout my girl pregnancies as opposed to it being much less noticeable and only for the first few months with my boys. 4 pregnancies - two girls, 3 boys (including boy twins).

onwardandupwards · 02/04/2024 17:05

With both my boys I couldn't stomach the smell of meat being cooked, even ham made me feel off!

PuttingDownRoots · 02/04/2024 17:13

I could barely even think about food in Tri 1 with DD1.

With DD2 is was mushy foods... not exactly convenient during the weaning process with an older baby/toddler!!

Liloona · 02/04/2024 17:15

None with my first and he was a boy.

Millions with this one and he's also a boy.

Blarn · 02/04/2024 17:16

Vegetables severely in the first, less so the second. Both girls.

DeepfriedPizza · 02/04/2024 17:20

Garlic and meat, girl

50feeling22 · 02/04/2024 17:33

I could have eat and smells were awful I've got 2 boys

Chocachocaholic · 02/04/2024 17:40

With my 2nd I went off chicken! Thought and smell made me feel sick! I also had a strong aversion to mint including toothpaste. Had to go and buy a flavourless toothpaste! Literally would gag whilst brushing my teeth! I had a girl
Didn't really get any strong aversions with my first, a girl also. Did have strong cravings for burnt toast and dime bars though 🤷‍♀️

Lalupalina · 02/04/2024 17:46

Garlic aversion for both my son's and daughter's pregnancies.

So no, it doesn't predict anything Grin

Familiaritybreedscontemptso · 02/04/2024 17:47

Both for me but it was worse with the boy (I was sick multiple times a day every day for the whole pregnancy, with dd at least I got 2 weeks off in the middle).

AdoraBell · 02/04/2024 17:49

I couldn’t eat red meat for about 5 months. I had twin girls.

MudandMoet · 02/04/2024 17:55

I'm having a little girl and have craved salty food from very early on. I could eat salty fries and crisps all day long (not great I know!)

SirenSays · 02/04/2024 18:01

Boys were my angels. My girls wanted me dead and I could be sick for thinking about food.

I had similar through all three pregnancies. I felt sick from about 2 days before I could test to about an hour after I'd given birth. Couldn't stand almost all food, especially chocolate.

I had 2 girls and a boy.

The very mild advantage was I didn't have any pregnancy weight to lose afterwards.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 02/04/2024 18:17

I had horrendous food aversions with both pregnancies, but they were worse with the boy. I was SO skinny during my pregnancy as I could barely eat anything and what I could eat I could rarely keep down :(

NotAllowed · 02/04/2024 18:20

Rowgtfc72 · 02/04/2024 18:22

Couldn't stand the thought or smell of wholemeal bread buns. Had a girl.

PinotDragon · 02/04/2024 18:36

Tuna. Had a boy 4 years ago. Am still not overly fish inclined although I was before pregnancy

CaribouCarafe · 02/04/2024 18:39

I basically lived off pickles and salt and vinegar crisps in my first trimester, everything else made me gag unless I ate one of those two things first (and even then I went off fish and all the foods I usually love).
