Easter Eggs not wrapped in foil

Noticed this today when DC opened theirs. Eggs are boxed without foil covering them.

Just opened one of mine (can’t sleep so thought I’d have a bit with a cuppa!). It just seems a bit odd that they’re not wrapped. I know they’re in a box but you need the foil to wrap what’s left of it in to keep it fresh. It’s like it’s open to the elements!

Obviously it’s a save the environment thing (and saves manufacturers lots) but it doesn’t sit right with me. I mean soggy paper straws and now naked eggs!

Anyone else think this is not cricket?

My Yorkie egg is foiled wrapped. What brand is yours? Don't fancy a naked egg much, wouldn't it go stale?

PolarPandaBear · 01/04/2024 01:47

All the ones I've bought are wrapped and they are all different chocolate companies so not just one

PolarPandaBear · 01/04/2024 01:49

Mind you I bought Lidl ones once by mistake as everywhere had sold out so had no choice and they weren't wrapped although they tasted vile anyway so haven't bought them again.

We’ve got loads of different ones including major chocolate brands and Thorntons. All were/are bare naked!

Most bought from Sainsbury’s but they are branded so assume all supermarkets selling the same ones.

When DC opened the first one this morning, I thought it had been tampered with but then the others were opened and they were all the same.

Foil can be recycled so I don’t know what’s going on. Can’t find anything about it on Google.

So Cadbury's/ mars? Nestle? As they are all wrapped...

CanNeverThinkOfAName · 01/04/2024 02:11

We have had/have Twirl, Flake, Mini Eggs, Reese’s, Dairy Milk and assorted Thorntons. Together with Baileys and Guinness ones, so different manufacturers. None of them foil wrapped.

Quite annoyed actually as that will definitely have an effect on freshness and we have boxes of half eaten eggs all over the house. Obviously can’t put loads of boxes in the fridge! Try to eek them out for a few days each. Hardly good for the environment if I have to use my own tin foil to wrap them.

What madness is this. I can’t be the only one with naked eggs!

Has someone in your house been stealing the foil lol, the only ones from this list thay I know of that aren't wrapped in foil is Thorntons cause they're covered in plastic case. All the Cadbury ones should be and you would see from the outside as they have windows. Can't speak on baileys and Guinness. I'm guessing an over enthusiastic child has been picking at the eggs.

Eminybob · 01/04/2024 02:21

We have a twirl one and it is foil wrapped, as are all the other Cadburys ones.

JobMatch3000 · 01/04/2024 02:28

We had Cadbury buttons and a smarties one. Both foil wrapped. I wouldn't eat them otherwise. I can't imagine the Food Hygiene implications of a shop selling chocolate without a wrapper - completely exposed to the elements. It's not like you can wash it!

Jifmicroliquid · 01/04/2024 07:05

Cadburys eggs are all foil wrapped.

Have you got like the super deluxe one that comes in ridiculous packaging? Coz mine are foil wrapped standard

Imicola · 01/04/2024 07:30

Our montezuma one had no foil. It means you can't roll them! Very annoying. Kit kat one did have foil... but in the end didn't get rolled.

Hikingfan · 01/04/2024 07:31

My M&S one wasn't wrapped in foil and it tastes stale.

They come in a box, they are not just sitting around with no packaging, otherwise noone would buy them!

TitInATrance · 01/04/2024 07:31

I had a Galaxy one, foil wrapped.

olympicsrock · 01/04/2024 07:32

ridiculous to have half eaten eggs all over the house. Just eat one at once!

Sirzy · 01/04/2024 07:33

The few we have had have all had foil. But surely a simple answer is to not open multiple eggs at once then you only have one open each at a time?

Butterflyball · 01/04/2024 07:33

Happy April fools day 😏

BunniesRUs · 01/04/2024 07:34

Is this another April Fools thread?

My thought too.

ReliefComic · 01/04/2024 07:45

M&S not wrapped, not a fan.

Bonjovispjs · 01/04/2024 07:47

I was given a Belgian chocolate egg, no foil or plastic packaging around it. Just sitting there naked on the cardboard holder. I googled reviews about them as I'd never seen that before and a lot of people were complaining about it, definitely not an April fools joke. Put me off as not only is it not kept fresh, but the actual box was only stuck down with one of those little round stickers, so presumably dirt/dust from the factory/lorry could get in through the small gaps in top of the box.

mitogoshi · 01/04/2024 07:51

The Lidl deluxe one wasn't wrapped and it tasted amazing, far better than the Cadbury one. We only have 2 here, one each

AmaryllisChorus · 01/04/2024 07:53

I gave DS a Toney's Chocoloney one - no foil. Must taste of cardboard.

You can decant into storage containers though? Surely you have a large cake tin or even your own tinfoil to wrap?
