What would you do?

I have a week entirely to myself later this year, money no problem.

I can’t ask anyone IRL, so asking you lot 😊

Any more ideas? 🙏

What time of year will it be?

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 01/04/2024 11:03

I'd go catch up with friends/family in Canada.

ArthurHeDoesAsHePleases · 01/04/2024 11:13

I’d clean the house from top to bottom without anyone trying to talk to me over the hoover or treading on mopped floors. I’d sit with my drinks in the evening in the peace and quiet or I’d play loud house music. Order a few Indian takeaways. Read my phone. Drink tea. Happy indoors and my own company but be bored by the end of the week.

I have that this week oddly enough while ds is spending time with his London family on his dad's side.

I am relishing the lack of noise and interruptions. Ds is 19 and although he is in a full time job I do get interrupted a lot.

I will work this week (self employed at home) and commence my springcleaning routine. Not blindingly great fun of course but I am really appreciating some me time!

I'm on day two of 5 days on my own in a cottage on the west coast of Scotland. Yesterday, I went for a lovely long walk along the beach, read, watched a film, did some embroidery and had the loveliest bottle of red. Today, I'm pottering again. Weather is ok ish but I don't care what it's like, I have warm clothes, an open fire and time.

Come and pick me up and we will have a week of adventures!!!! I'm so jealous and can only dream of having a week to myself with no money worries. Please enjoy every moment xx

BouleDeSuif · 01/04/2024 12:34

If I had the money I would book myself an air BnB in London because I miss it, and just go round all my old haunts and meet up with everyone I know who is still there.
Otherwise I'd take myself out for big walks in the Peaks and sleep in every morning.

MargaretThursday · 01/04/2024 12:34

I would intend to completely revamp the house.

In reality I'd lie in far too late, and eat delicious but unhealthy food and have a lovely time.

Find an Airbnb I loved the look of with a fire and good walks/near a body of water to jump in depending on the time of the year, near somewhere I could pop out for a facial and a massage, with a really good view.

Or, New York for three nights strolling, galleries, coffee and people watching with a couple of nights at home either end just pottering.

Or, a week in a all inclusive somewhere hot that I could flop and not move. This would do, and I would shuttle between sun lounger, pool, bed, and restaurant, with five excellent books.

Walking in the Scottish Highlands, from luxury hotel to luxury hotel, with a service to carry my stuff between stays and packed lunch with champagne provided each day 😃

Orangesandlemons77 · 01/04/2024 13:28

I'm having this, this week, as boys and DH have gone off skiing. I have slept a lot, eaten easter eggs for breakfast, not down any laundry or much cooking or washing up. Went to sis in law for Easter dinner yesterday and am looking after the parrot which is quite easy. Not really missing skiing as have a fear of heights.

God I literally fantasise about this scenario Grin I'm unbelievably jealous OP

I am currently in day three of my ten nights alone. House is now very tidy and I’ve had two lovely early nights and lie ins (literally unheard of). Today I’m making a couple of window blinds and sorting out my wardrobe. I have a skip arriving on Tuesday. I’m then going to go through the house sorting lots of stuff to go to the charity shop, pay bills, arrange tradespeople to come and do various jobs, reupholster a small chair and do a load of batch cooking. I’m determined to use this week to make life easier.

This sounds so lovely

September

I would do a 3 day city break to Paris or Barcelona. I would lie in, have a leisurely breakfast then spend the day wandering around the cities just seeing what I came across. 2 days cleaning and organising the house from top to bottom with a podcast on, and 2 days at the hairdressers/beautician and shopping for new clothes.

Cheesehound · 01/04/2024 14:11

Being at home and batch cooking?!
Bloody hell no! Where’s your imagination?!

I’d spend a week abroad - New York, Tokyo, Rome Top of my list.

Surely the point is to do what you want, what suits you, not what others think you should do?

plominoagain · 01/04/2024 14:17

I’d take me and the dog to a dog friendly hotel somewhere like the New Forest, and spend a week pottering about with nice walks and food . Turn the phone off , long baths and a good book . Bloody marvellous.

Princessfluffy · 01/04/2024 16:22

I would spend lots of one on one time with my best friends and favourite family members.

MrsSkylerWhite · 01/04/2024 16:44

The Scottish highlands in September are spectacular, perfect time to go!

Great minds think alike, @MugLove 😁

MinnieMountain · 01/04/2024 17:22

Go to Turkey. A day or 2 on the beach, the rest visiting Roman ruins.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 01/04/2024 17:28

I'd declutter the whole house, I'll be doing this from tmo on! I'll lie in every day until I want to get up, plant some seeds, watch true crime, buy some things online, stay in, only going into my garden. Speak to nobody. Turn phone off.

paristotokyo · 01/04/2024 17:29

Totally alone? Ohhh I would love this. Would definitely go away somewhere warm and beachy, nice hotel with lots of nice food and relaxing.
