DS is nearly 19.

What do you get your older teens for Easter?

Thank you

Never heard of Easter presents.

Easter eggs for kids - and father in law who is a kid at heart.

Can’t imagine I’ll stop buying the kids even when adults. Never too old for a chocolate egg.

@user1492757084 wins though! I love this but don’t think my DC would indulge me.

Update, I’ve just ordered a book about film making and a directors cut board to go with his Easter eggs (2). He’s doing film making at uni in Sept.

@TeacherHarri £20. My 3 would love £100 each!

Mine would love £100 too, but he won’t be getting it 😂

I bought a book for £6 and a directors board for £10 (both for uni) and he has 2 large Easter eggs, so that will do I think.

We have hot cross buns for breakfast. Do an Easter egg hunt (16 year old still wants this apparently - her sisters are 12) so they get that chocolate (we hide it, not the Easter bunny) and they get an egg each but we go to the shop together and they choose their own rather than a surprise.

we’re giving our nephew a book but that’s because he’s 1 and not had chocolate yet.

Nothing, I don’t buy Easter eggs for grown ups or near grown ups. I might make a Simnel cake and we do have hot cross buns

Why not (I’m curious - I appreciate different families do things differently) My parents still buy me an egg and I’m 42 with my own dc 😂 pil will also buy dc,dh and me eggs and we buy eggs for our parents. It’s just a little gift for loved ones.

Just not something we have done. I send Easter cards and there might be family gatherings at which there is plenty of chocs as there are lots of family birthdays in March

I remember my best Easter was probably over 30 years ago. I got Easter eggs and new Bauer roller skates 😀 Will have to think of something my teenager will like.

wandawaves · 26/03/2024 00:42

Easter eggs.
When they were younger they used to get PJ's, a book, and a little Lego set, as well as a small amount of Easter chocolate. But they've outgrown that now, so they just get chocolate and are happy with that.
One of my kids is currently on a health kick so he doesn't want any chocolate. I asked him what can I give him instead and he said don't bother, it's just Easter!

Meadowfinch · 26/03/2024 00:46

A Easter egg, Three weeks of lie-ins. A revision schedule. 🙂

CupOfCoffeeandaPineappleChunk · 26/03/2024 00:47

Just Easter egg/ chicolate usually, but as we're gong away this year and he isn't coming he got some nice aftershave too this time as a special treat.

Flatandhappy · 26/03/2024 00:51

Easter egg and a book is the norm here.

Medschoolmum · 26/03/2024 00:52

An Easter Egg, and maybe another jellycat bunny as a pp mentioned...dd is definitely angling for the one holding a carrot!

Definitely no cash here, and I'm well known for going overboard on presents so I don't think you're being mean!

MaloneMeadow · 26/03/2024 01:04

Probably nothing to be honest. She’s already told me that she doesn’t want an Easter egg as she doesn’t really eat them, each year they just go to waste so no point! Family members will likely give her some cash, max. £50 all in all. She’s 19 now and not an Easter enthusiast anymore so she really doesn’t mind that there’s no big fuss, presents, egg hunts etc like we used to have. It’s all part of growing up.

Beezknees · 26/03/2024 07:27

At 19? Nothing!

echt · 26/03/2024 07:30

When my DD lived at home, a chocolate bilby because we are in Australia.

Money? Pffft?

Youmusthavebeentoacapulco · 26/03/2024 07:33

An Easter egg - actually about 3 or a couple of eggs and some nice chocolate

What’s a bilby?!

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 26/03/2024 07:40

DS is a younger teen but he will get 2 Easter eggs (because they’re 4 for £10 in Asda and there’s 3 of us). On Easter Monday we’re having a huge family get together with younger children and there’ll be an Easter egg hunt which I’m sure he’ll take part in “for the younger children’s sake” 😂.

Lifestooshort71 · 26/03/2024 07:42

I have 2 grandchildren, 15 and 17. They both get eggs from respective parents and I give them some cash to either buy themselves an egg or spend on anything really. This year it's gone up from £20 to £40 and will probably stay at that until they're financially independent.

LydiaTomos · 26/03/2024 07:45

They get an Easter egg each.

Runnerduck34 · 26/03/2024 07:50

Mine still love our traditional Easter egg hunt! So chocolate- lots of! And this year lush Easter themed Bath bomb.
When they were younger I used to get them a toy , usually an outdoor one as they got enough Easter eggs from family.
Never had anywhere near £100 for easter- I think that's unusual.

shepherdsangeldelight · 26/03/2024 07:51

An Easter egg and we will have a "hunt" (standing joke that the eggs are not remotely hidden) of smaller eggs.

Surely the answer to this question is linked to what you've done when the DC was younger? If you normally get them just an egg then they won't expect anything else. If you normally buy an expensive gift (clearly a thing among some people - when did this happen?) along with an egg, then they will probably expect you to keep doing it.

maudelovesharold · 26/03/2024 07:52

Each family to their own, but it’s a bit sad that some have a cut-off for Easter eggs 😕
All my (adult) dc (and partners) get an Easter egg, and a little Lindt chocolate bunny in memory of my Mum, who always used to get them (a bigger) one! In addition this year I got the partners a little pot of hyacinths each and the dc a little packet of Reece’s mini eggs, because they all love them! Grandson gets an Easter egg (a Lindt bunny one), a little packet of Reece’s, and a Lego kit. Dh and I get each other a small egg, too.

Lovemusic82 · 26/03/2024 07:55

We don’t really make a big deal about Easter. They get an Easter egg each and that’s it. I don’t understand those who are giving cash or large gifts, it’s not a birthday or Christmas, we have always only ever given Easter eggs and when I was a teenager all we received from parents was a egg.

Surely easter is about gifting chocolate eggs and eating a roast dinner with family?
