What do you buy for a woman who doesn't want or need anything

The woman is me. My birthday is coming up (not a big one) and my DH is asking me what I'd like. We tend to just tell each other so it's something wanted. I genuinely can't think of a thing this year and actually get fed up of just having 'stuff' around cluttering up the house. Any ideas?

Cashmere bed socks
Silk pillowcases(total game changer)
Anything that brings you joy and reminds you of the gift giver when used(for me it’s a Mason Cash baking bowl that I thought was far too expensive for little old me. Thanks MIL).

AnneKipankitoo · 23/03/2024 16:39

A flower subscription

Just saw someone else said that

Tea towels, aprons, mugs. Luxury mugs especially. They break easily and you'll need another by next birthday.
Hand cream is useful to have around.

Tea towels and aprons???

She's not a 1950s housewife 😂😂

On my birthday two years ago treated me to a surprise spa couples package followed by dinner with friends when there wasn't really anything I wanted and it was an absolutely beautiful evening.

That should say DH treated me

A double bass.

I don't need one but I really want one! 😁

Sodullincomparison · 23/03/2024 17:53

I’ve got concert tickets this year.

I don’t want any more things or flowers etc.

FlyingDuck5 · 23/03/2024 17:54

A horse.

Workingmytickettoparadise · 24/03/2024 05:41

Subscriptions like Apple Music, Apple News Plus, Disney Plus and Spotify etc. if you like them then it’s an easy gift for the next year in terms of renewal. What about membership to an indie cinema or local theatre or the like?

EcstaticMarmalade · 24/03/2024 05:57

Oura ring- ability to track the quality of my sleep and my stress levels is transforming my life.
Flowers are always welcome.
Sowmthing scented, could be candles, could be perfume. Especially a favourite but discontinued perfume that is evocative of a special time, it’s amazing what you can find on eBay.

LizzieBennetsBonnet · 24/03/2024 07:40

I have enough stuff and do feel guilty sometimes for not appreciating gifts of 'nice but I don't need/want it' stuff. My recent birthday was better than usual for presents and I really appreciated Audible credits, a box of my favourite herbal tea, a voucher to a favourite local restaurant and the money to get my hair dyed (purple under dye - booked for next week!)

ilovebagpuss · 24/03/2024 07:50

Is there genuinely no little frivolous thing you fancy?
Quality earrings
New perfume trip to smell and choose?
Book and bottle of champagne
Recliner for the garden
Dog
Walking boots
Manicure
Sometimes it's nice just to let someone buy you something even if you aren't that fussed.
The flower subscriptions sound nice.

PuppiesOnTheWay · 24/03/2024 09:18

I am one of the saddos that would love some beautiful tea towels 🤷‍♀️ mine tend to come from b&m or asda etc so I would love some really nice ones!
Alternatively, a riding break in either Ireland or Wales. Nothing like a good gallop along the beach to blow away another years cobwebs!

Nor am I. Yet, I've invested my time and energy in Swedish Death Cleaning, and I don't want any gifts of tat. I want things I can use. A good quality tea towel or apron sparks joy. As does a beautiful china mug. These things are tried and tested gifts.

Zephyry · 24/03/2024 12:31

Either a luxury version of a consumable you do use, or an experience/day out/trip away

Chewbecca · 24/03/2024 12:38

Theatre and posh meal for me please. No toot, thanks.

hendoop · 24/03/2024 12:48

I second the dna ancestors kit

Costa vouchers

Laser hair removal

Silk pjs

Plant subscription

Cooking subscription like hello fresh

ilovepixie · 24/03/2024 12:51

Just tell him to get you a card and if you see something later in the year he can get you that.

LarchFairy · 24/03/2024 12:55

It's my birthday next week and I want nothing.
I hate any kind of gift which makes me do something. Experience, spa, no thanks.
I like boring stuff for my garden, books and craft materials such as wool or fabric. I need to choose them though.
I end up with hand cream (I have a cupboard full).
I'd love flowers. People don't seem keen on buying flowers because they are temporary but I'd get so much pleasure from them.

Bjorkdidit · 24/03/2024 13:25

Sometimes it's nice just to let someone buy you something even if you aren't that fussed

It would also be nice if the 'woman who doesn't want or need anything except to get her way and/or need to not have to think for once' was listened to too but it seems people won't let that happen.

jollygreenpea · 24/03/2024 13:28

I'm the same, I don't want stuff, I'm trying to get rid of unwanted stuff.

I don't want vouchers, because then I'm stuck to trying to find something in that shop/place.

I would much rather choose something myself when I see it, when ever that may be.

What about an IOU?.

What about a home made 'voucher' that can be redeemed for an hour of time i.e. Odd jobs, heavy lifting/digging, jobs you hate doing?

jollygreenpea · 24/03/2024 13:31

Sometimes it's nice just to let someone buy you something even if you aren't that fussed

So that's more unwanted stuff to get rid off, just so that someone can tick off buying you a present?

lljkk · 24/03/2024 13:36

I always want ...
a goat for an African entrepeneur(ess)
Textbooks for kids in poor countries
20 hours of teacher training
& whatever else in the Oxfam catalogue

No one ever buys me those things. Narks me so much that they get me "stuff" instead. Like socks & moisturiser.

I have settled for neckbuffs and car washes, instead.

HelenHywater · 24/03/2024 13:38

I like the idea of a flower subscription - I love fresh flowers

Despite being previously scathing of nice candles as a present, I now love them - so a Diptique candle

I would love silver jewellery. Lovely expensive silver hoops would be nice I think

I love being taken to the theatre and to dinner

I love being taken on a European mini break

I love nice pyjamas or lounge wear

I would really love some nice art too, but this is really difficult to get right.
