Romcoms. Love Actually is the worst one, but it isn't the only one. I also loathe Notting Hill, Four Weddings, and most of the other ones as well. Pretty Woman is dire. I far prefer Old Hollywood screwball comedies. Some Like it Hot has to be the most perfect comedy ever, it is so funny and it is romantic without being schmaltzy.

Period pants.

Expensive, messy and totally impractical imo.

Depends on your flow - they are handy for light days, and for wearing in bed. I agree I wouldn’t wear them on heavy days.

Totally agree re: musicals though. Evan Hansen is a particularly awful one - I watching it thinking “this is a black comedy isn’t it? They have to be playing this for laughs right?”

But they weren’t, and apparently I was the only person in the audience thinking what a malevolent, sly little cunt the “hero” was.

Dubai!

Newnamehiwhodis · 29/07/2024 22:14

Game of Thrones. Loathe. Absolutely cannot stand the books or show.

hazandduck · 29/07/2024 22:16

Center Parcs.

Rundown, grubby facilities. Poor restaurants. Creepy Truman show vibe about the place.

Urgh makes me shudder!

Picnics.
Gigs.
BBQs.
Museums and art galleries (unless it’s something really impressive.)
Sushi.
Taylor Swift.
Bristol.
Oxford.

@Saschka
I don't think he was meant to be a hero, more another cog trapped on the wheel. Through my Gen X eyes he was entirely self absorbed and allowed his own troubles to supersede his moral compass, but my Gen Z offspring and their friends completely empathised with him. It led to an interesting chat on the way home.

I can't agree about all musicals though. Les Mis was awesome and I have a real soft spot for Sunshine on Leith and Calamity Jane et al.

Soonenough · 29/07/2024 22:21

Dubai
Glamping
BLW
Netflix
Property porn
Sex toys

FayeGreener · 29/07/2024 22:22

Oh baths!
Especially the whole “long luxurious bubble bath surrounded by candles” thing. I hate baths. I always come out feeling not only sweaty and mucky but knackered. Much rather have a shower.

fiddleleaffig · 29/07/2024 22:24

Longchamp lame pliage bag
Coffee
Shark hoovers

FayeGreener · 29/07/2024 22:26

En suite bathrooms.

I fail to see the upside in being able to hear your partner having a shit.

Teacherprebaby · 29/07/2024 22:27

DUBAI!

soupfiend · 29/07/2024 22:28

Oh god so many of these

Les Mis I think someone mentioned
Kale
Rocket, urgh
Linen cropped trousers - for looking like Im doing the gardening
Bread
Also agree about rom coms or 'coming of age' films, particularly anything amercian, just makes me cringe.

Am I allowed to pick a person? If so, Amy Whinehouse

Blackcats7 · 29/07/2024 22:28

Sex. Honestly I have never got what women like about it so much. Yes an orgasm is pleasant enough but all that performance and being pawed or pounded into? I’d rather have a cup of tea and a biscuit with the telly.

Teacherprebaby · 29/07/2024 22:30

ODFOx · 29/07/2024 22:02

Deadpool
Linen (too crumpled; always)
Cavolo Nero and kale
Halloumi
Cheap cutlery (scratchy and metallic)
Sweet potato fries
Beach holidays

Nooooo you've just not had GOOD sweet potato fries I promise you!

Teacherprebaby · 29/07/2024 22:31

Celebrities...just like...why are they a thing?

moggerhanger · 29/07/2024 22:33

Coffee. Tastes like bitter burned mud, and the poncey faff that seems to be inseparable from it just does my head in. I drink it but only because it's cheaper than Monster/Red Bull.

PerkyMintDeer · 29/07/2024 22:33

Turtle Doves Wrist Warmers
That Uniqlo bag
See also Longchamp La Pliage bag

The weird expensive candle obsession - "OP I'd get her a White Stuff/Jo Malone/Diptyque candle, you can't go wrong."

I ended up with 12, yes 12 of the fuckers for my 40th and 7 for Christmas. That's just shy of £1000 worth of candles. CANDLES ffs!!! The vast majority of which make me wheeze, my eyes water and I start coughing as I am quite allergic to grasses and certain flowers.

I know...what an ungrateful wretch I am.

The trouble with sweet potato fries is they’re about 100 times less nice than ordinary fries.

twohotwaterbottles · 29/07/2024 22:40

Beyonce. I just can't bear her voice. At. All. I turn the radio channel over if she comes on 🤣

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 29/07/2024 22:41

Fuck yes to Six : The Musical, I went for a big birthday in the West End and was absolutely gutted by how Emperors New Clothes it was

Yes I always really really want to like Centerparcs and never do. Fittings and fixtures always feel really cheap, and at the same time they never miss an opportunity to screw more cash out of you. I went to a music festival at butlins a while back, and honestly it felt like better value.

There would be a great business opportunity for somebody to set up a glamping/lodge set up that was genuinely high-quality and had a load of activities which were genuinely all included.

MumofSpud · 29/07/2024 22:54

Spa days - find them stressful!!
