I would be interested to hear guesses or what you think it usually would be! I struggle a lot to get jeans, trousers and leggings to fit me because the rest of me is in proportion but the waist/ stomach is a different story.

I'm the same age, height and weight and normally size 12 trousers and 8 top. By the end of the day I look about 5m pregnant. Just measured my waist now and it's around 31" I'll measure again to see if it's gone down in the morning.

I think weight isnt actually relevent to waist size, it all depends on what body shape you are. I unfortunatly have a rectangle body shape

I'm 5'1 and currently weigh 49kg. I have a 26" waist but I also had a 26" waist at 39, 42 & 45kg
And I had a 28" waist at 52 to 57kg.

Hips were 32" from 39 to 45kg and 34" from 46kg to 55kg.

Ok, what exercises can we do to get these waists looking trimmer? I'm a tiny bit taller but carry all my weight around my middle which I absolutely loathe

I don't think you can control where the fat sits unfortunately. Just lose weight and it will come off the middle in time as well as elsewhere. Maybe avoiding alcohol and sugar would help

I can't afford to lose weight unfortunately 😞 I only weigh just over 8 stone as it is. There must be some exercises we can do surely?

My waist is pretty small at 24" but I wear size 10 trousers becuase my navel at my belly button is 27.5". It really depends on your shape and where you carry your weight. I am 50kg 5'4".

Catsandcuddles · 22/03/2024 09:22

@BitterSweetISuppose it's a shame you see your body shape as an unfortunate thing, we are all different and there is nothing unfortunate about the rectangle body shape, embrace what you have 😊

Ok then it's just your build. Some people just don't have a waist. Look at Florence Pugh and Meghan Markle. Slim women who just don't have a waist.

Most women get thicker as we due to cervical shortening and a change in fat distribution. Even if there is not much fat, the fat there is will often end up on the mid section.

I'm not really sure what you mean?

I definitely have a waist. This is in proportion to my 30F chest.

BrownSauceOnBeans · 25/03/2024 10:42

I have the opposite problem. My waist is 26in but my jeans never fit at the waist because of my giant thighs which mean I have to size up. (5’6”/56kg)

She means that some body shapes , lik3 the rectangle for example do not have a defined waist..They are straight up and down, of course they still have a waist, but it's isn't defined and the measurements for their chest, waist and hips will pretty much be the same. Whereas the hour glass, has an obviously defined waist which is slimmer, and then bigger chest and hip measurements. This is why single measurements like hip to waist ratio etc aren't always the best to measure, as they don't not fit with all body shapes.

Well I'm 5ft 3 and weigh 63kgs and am an 8.
I work out a lot.
My best friend is 5ft 1 and 55kgs. She is also an 8. And works out.

Weight is subjective.

When I was 57kgs I was also an 8.

kitsuneghost · 26/03/2024 14:37

28 inch when I was similar weight. Though I am a little smaller.

Probably huge and you look like a weeble.
Sick to death of stealth boast threads on size, weight, how little people eat etc.

I'm sorry this is such a sore point for you. I never said I was huge or overweight and would be the first to acknowledge that I am absolutely not overweight, I never have been, I fall within a healthy BMI. But my waist size is not in keeping with what would be expected for my weight and this makes getting clothes that fit me difficult. I literally have to wear trousers with an elasticated waist if I want them to be the right fit for my legs.

I honestly don't understand the concept of a stealth boast on an anonymous forum. None of you know me and never will so what would be the point of boasting? You can't even see what I look like. I was interested to hear other people's experiences of what a waist size would generally be at my weight and height. People seem to generally be in agreement that it would be assumed to be less than 29 inches, so it's not just my perception that it's out of proportion.

There's no reason why being a healthy weight should be seen as automatically boastful.

Thank you for the replies, this is really an eye opener! I'm starting to wonder if there's some kind of creature growing in there. There's no baby but maybe some kind of alien or something. I don't carry weight anywhere else at all.

I'm not trying to scare you but the last time a person started a thread like this, it turned out that she sadly had ovarian cancer and has since passed away 😞. I'm sure it's nothing but if you're concerned or have any other symptoms, or if this is a drastic change, maybe book an appointment with the doctor?

Otherwise stick with the exercise and you will see results, even if it's a gradual process! I'm 41 now and my body has definitely changed, and my waist has gained an inch or so over the past several years and boobs have gotten bigger which I hate. I just think in general it's a thing that often happens to women as they age.

I was going to say something similar.
