I’ll have a nine year old and a six year old. I’ll be 49, turning 50. Hoping life will be easier in many ways and not quite as full on!

I hope to be part time at work although I’ll ask for three days spread over four so I can drop off and pick up at school, very much hoping (and longing) for one day off a week.

Hope we will have more money!

I'll be 57, dd will be 30 and ds 29.

I thought I would still be working and travelling but I've still not fully recovered from Covid. I was a completely healthy and fit 49 year old when I got it but I just never fully recovered. I always thought I would have my health but it shows you how quickly things can change. I can't even walk the dog now though luckily I've managed to keep working (I have a boyfriend but I am essentially single financially).

I am now planning to retire early and live a lot more frugally than I thought I would have to in the hope that I might get some quality of life back!

Much the same as now apart from hopefully we will have a bit more disposable income due to childcare fees becoming non existent…although who knows what will happen with COL and interest rates…kids will be 8 and 12 so hopefully less hard work at weekends 🙈. The pessimist in me thinks oh will we be at war, maybe one of us will loose our job get seriously ill etc but I try not to dwell on those thoughts

bakewellbride · 17/03/2024 19:30

I'll be 40, kids will be 12 and 9. I'm a sahm now but hopefully I'll be working part time once youngest starts school so a few years of work under my belt by 2030. I'll have been married for 9 years by then too. I hope life is rosy and we are all in good health.

ArcticBells · 17/03/2024 19:33

Blissful retirement hopefully

KevinDeBrioche · 17/03/2024 19:39

I will have just turned 50. DH will be almost 55, DC 19 and 22 so I would imagine one just through university and the other just started. We will be in the same house all being well, and into the higher earning stages. Feels like late teens / early 20s are peak spending so I hope we are ok financially getting through those years.

merryhouse · 17/03/2024 19:47

I'll be moaning about how when I was 20 I thought I'd be about to start getting a pension on my upcoming birthday Grin

Optimistically, I might be thinking about going for another promotion. Just for the sheer hell of it: with no mortgage and H's workplace pension as well as my salary we're pretty comfortable.

Likely having to worry about MiL a bit more than we do now. Genetically we're probably not looking at dementia but she might start to get frail.

Trying hard not to ask S1 whether he's thought about babies now he's 30.

Crabwoman · 17/03/2024 20:05

I'll be 46, DH will be 49. DD's will be 16 and 20 so will be taking GCSEs and at Uni/work/apprenticeship.

I'm not planning anymore promotions. Hopefully, the mortgage will be nearly paid off. DDog may not be with us, sadly.

The thing that's making me sad about this question is that our (currently very fit and well parents) will be in their 80's and everything that brings.

donteatthedaisies0 · 17/03/2024 20:49

Don't want to pour cold water on all your hope but you will all be a long way off from retirement ,however old you are .

MintyCedric · 17/03/2024 21:07

The thought of DC1 heading off to uni or whatever does fill me with anxiety though, I can’t imagine ever being ready for them to move out.

Trust me, by the time you get there you’ll be ready 😁.

Why?

Validus · 17/03/2024 21:12

It’ll be fun.

My trees will have been established and started fruiting decently, as will the blueberries and other foodstuffs. I should have more raised beds in the garden and have a greenhouse too.

The mortgage will be gone, and school fees finishing, so I’ll be able to drop to part time, or even change career. as I will have finished my OU degree.

The windows will finally have been replaced.

Hopefully I will be learning piano.

TeenLifeMum · 17/03/2024 21:14

I’ll be 47 with adult dc 18 and 22 and will hopefully be planning holidays galore (actually, we’ll be funding the two 18 yos through uni… which terrifies me).

Ted27 · 17/03/2024 21:16

I will be properly retired, have most of my pension, spending a lot of time on my allotment and turning into a mad cat lady

Wouldn't mind a grandchild or two but probably a bit too soon for my son

dreammattemousse · 17/03/2024 21:17

I will be 38, kids won't need baby sitting so will have the social life of a 20 year old.
I will be with (and adored) by the love of my life who looks like a film star.
I will look better than I do now because I will be so utterly happy and fulfilled it will radiate out of every pore.

I actually believe this 😂😂 wishful or delusional who knows..

LaughterLentil · 17/03/2024 21:18

Hopefully retired. with no mortgage thanks to inheritance. My partner and I will travel and potter. I will still have my dog and faculties I hope

Tumbleweed101 · 17/03/2024 21:20

I'll be 54. I hope I might have a grandchild and be in a different career at that point.

jenny1209 · 17/03/2024 21:27

I’ll be 44, DCs will be 15 and 11.
Hopefully will have been promoted at least once but other than that, I hope very little changes.
I like my life, I’ve got hobbies, good friends and a lovely husband. I love my home and our lifestyle. I hope my loved ones are still around and healthy.

StarDolphins · 17/03/2024 21:30

My DD will be a teen so I will be an embarrassing & hated mum🤣 My current dog won’t be here which just makes me so so sad.

I really only need a few things in life & I’m very happy & content..health, bit of money to spend, my friends & nice food.

I would really like to listen to podcasts & wTch some box sets by then too. I don’t remember the last time I relaxed watching TV. Probably 2013.

whatthejuice · 17/03/2024 21:33

I'll be 44 with one child at secondary school and one still at primary.

I'll still be part-time at work but instead of having a toddler with me on my "days off", I'll actually have 1.5 days to myself. I'm looking forward to that! I hope my husband and I have more time for us again too.

I'd like to think we will be able to vary our travel a bit more with the kids - city breaks etc...

I think there's a good chance we will have moved house. I like our home a lot and am very grateful for it, but don't feel it's "forever".

My parents have both had bouts of ill health. I hope more than anything that they are both still with us and are happy and as healthy as possible.

Beckafett · 17/03/2024 21:45

Oooh love this!
I'm hoping after what will then be 12 years together me and my partner will be living together but unlikely.
We both have kids that may be independent adults by then; and also have mid teens by then.
The likelihood is that we will both be utterly and happily consumed by our own children and still be waiting a few years and his eldest living with us ❤️

ClawdeenWolf · 17/03/2024 21:48

Gosh, I'll be 50 which seems unimaginable. I'll have a 12 year old and will hopefully be a few years into an entirely new career. I hope financially things will look a bit brighter for us, and we've managed to get more secure housing and had a few adventures together in the meantime.

user8800 · 17/03/2024 22:11

Dc will be 27 and 22
Wow 😬
No idea what I'll be up to
Mum may still be with us but I imagine will need much more care ☹️
I'm hoping for more travelling/doing fun stuff

JamSandle · 17/03/2024 22:12

No idea...hopefully not much worse.

Curlewwoohoo · 17/03/2024 22:16

I'll have 2 teenagers 😱

Dabralor · 17/03/2024 22:19

Hopefully having a massive uni reunion.
Also hopefully earning a less shite salary than I do currently.
Hoping that we are all well and also our parents who will be in their mid to late seventies by then 😬
