I'm in my early 20's. I live with my parents who are older (60's and 70's). We are constantly poorly due to my younger family members (not siblings) constantly bringing bugs into the house.

We've been sick for four weeks now. We're constantly unwell. We're all overweight and need to change but I have no clue where to start. It all seems so overwhelming. Everything seems to be something that makes you unwell. Please, where do I start??? How do I make sure we're all healthy?

Posting in here as it's more active and I think I'll get some advice

I'm off to the doctors now so hopefully they'll reveal something and have some sort of treatment plan

I'm not making excuses, I am really unwell. I have been for a while. One doctor I saw thinks it could be chronic. I am trying my hardest. I've lost a stone so far this year. About 4.5 stone from my absolute heaviest when I was very mentally unwell. I'm trying

Are you on any medication?

Well done. You have recognised your challenges and are trying to overcome them. You are not disgusting. You are just one of many who have been tricked by a profit driven food industry into eating addictive food. Keep going. You are a trainee solicitor, a difficult job to land and I wish you every success.

Absolutely this. Well said.

I've seen the doctor. He thinks I have another infection but because I've just been on antibiotics he doesn't want to put me on them again, I have a steroid spray for my nose because apparently I have very blocked ears. He said the mould could be a factor but he thinks that it's just a case of the winter being winter and me being run down

Could you aim to take a 10 min walk every day? A short spell of exercise in the fresh air will do you the power of good.

Do you air your room every day? Even just half an hour when you get up and while you have breakfast. And get a good mould remover. Your health deserves the investment (not more than about £4).

Well done on your weight loss achievement. I know it isn't easy.

As the weather gets better, is there anyone you could meet up with every week for a cup of tea? In a nice cafe with outdoor seating?

I try to walk every lunch time but when I feel like shit it's so hard. I open my window most days but because my mum is sick atm I'm nervous to open it and make the house cold. I'll make sure I open it more though

The NHS Active 10 is quite a good motivator.

www.nhs.uk/better-health/get-active/

Aim for 10 mins a day or 20 mins every other day if it's easier. Just try to get 70 mins of activity in over a week.

Open your bedroom window and shut the door. It shouldn't get the house too cold if you just leave it for 20/30 mins. Fresh air is important for your health. And for your mum's health for that matter.

Clean the air!!
Id have several good quality air filter doted around to clean the air as much as possible, esp when young family members are coming in.
Open windows too.

Then as PP said, check with a GP.

Thankfully my GP thinks it's more just me being run down than anything else, which is a relief!
