Claiming child support from ONS sperm donor

Maryannberlwyn · 10/03/2024 02:17

I watched the TV show about that guy who goes around getting lots of women pregnant throughout the globe.

I'm sure there are women out there desperate for a child and would get pregnant from ONS etc. there are even websites set up to meet others.

Would it morally be wrong to claim child support from a guy she had used for sperm, either willingly or not.

I think it's morally wrong but my friend doesn't think a mother should live of benefits.

God sucks to be a man

Are you suggesting a child having no rights to support from their father is a better alturnitive?

I'm not suggesting anything. I'm incredulous at the "consenting to become a father" statement.

So if she doesn't want a baby a woman should either not have sex or should have a hysterectomy?

Yes, although a woman has the extra option of an abortion. which is what this thread really is let's face it, another way of whinging that in this one specific set of circumstances women get an extra option that men don't.

Although I would have thought having tubal ligation was more akin to a vasectomy than a hysterectomy personally

Its not really an outrageous idea. If you have sex there is a risk of a baby. If you are 100% against the idea of becoming a parent then don't take that risk. If you are willing to take that risk be willing to deal with the consequences which, for men, may be financial, and for women may be financial, medical, emotional, and career impacting.

Anyone who indulges in sex takes a small risk of becoming a parent , if you're too daft to accept that risk , you are not mature enough to indulge .

I think it must be pretty hard to get pregnant from a used condom? Don't they have spermicide in them? Either way it's not right, sounds like women that "poke holes in condoms" or come off the pill without discussion Confused

come off the pill without discussion

There isn't a "discussion" to be had. A woman can come off the exogenous oestrogen that quadruples her risk of a stroke whenever she likes. If she previously told a male partner that she was on the Pill, the decent thing would be for her to inform him so that he can reassess his risk of fatherhood. He should be using condoms anyway unless he's willing to be a father because the Pill can fail.

There is no "discussion", no debate, no negotiation to be had. It's her body.

women that "poke holes in condoms"

Men "stealthing", aka removing a condom, aka committing rape by introducing a naked penis into her body when she agreed to a covered one, is a far bigger problem.

It's never morally wrong to claim child support though it it morally wrong to try to get pregnant through semen from a used condom

In the unlikely event that someone did get pregnant that way I think it would be wrong to claim child support because he has used protection and hasn’t consented to conceiving a child that way.

No. The mother has no right to turn down her child's money that is due from the father.

dimllaishebiaith · 10/03/2024 23:21

women that "poke holes in condoms"

Again if this is a thing its incredibly easily avoided by men providing and handling their own condoms

If the ways men really have to worry about women they have a ONS with using them to get pregnant then it's pretty simple

Use protection
Handle the protection yourself
Provide the protection yourself
Don't leave the room until 15-30 mins after sex
Use a spermicide

Whilst they might still have to accept the risk of contraception failing at least they can avoid these "immoral" women waiting to trick a man into fathering their child

"Consenting to the risk of fatherhood" would be more accurate.

This ⬆

He can take the used condom with him if he is that flipping worried.

Or, you know, he could not have sex with women he distrusts.

My worry about ONSs is "will this guy turn out to be a porn-sick misogynist who anally rapes me whilst strangling me? and if he is, will I survive it?" The idea of, shock horror, having to go without sex because the possible consequences are scary is a day ending in Y for women. Men expecting risk-free casual sex is yet another example of male entitlement.

Surely it's sexual assault to do that. Just as its sexual assault for a man to remove a condom during sex without permission. He didn't consent.
Legally he'll probably have to pay for the kid and won't be able to press charges unless there's evidence of her admitting it at least.

Morally, obviously, we all know that doing things without a person's consent is wrong.

Surely it's sexual assault to do that.

No. He consented to penetrating her with a condom and then consented to leaving the condom in her bin.

He can take the condom with him.

For the benefit of posters who still think that condoms have spermicide in them: they don't routinely any more. The tissue damage that the spermicide causes outweighs the contraceptive benefits, especially when you consider that gay and bisexual men don't gain contraceptive benefits and are put ar increased risk of HIV transmission by tissue damage.

That's very interesting I didn't know that, it's a long time since I have needed condoms so clearly it's shows!

Yes!

Not putting penises into women is a fantastic contraceptive option available to all men everywhere.

Also, can I tout for interest in helping to crowdfund the development of Vasalgel, a long-acting reversible contraceptive for men that is currently in testing? Everyone should have as many options as possible for not becoming parents until and unless they want to.
