Songs not heard for years

But still love.

Just watched a programme on BBC2 , sound of Scotland, and just heard Bluebells Young at Heart, the first time I think I've heard it for many years. Firstly, the singer wasn't who I remember so that's was a shock and I suspect I thought it was Dexys Midnight Runners who sung it originally. Such yearning for one song 💔

Basically anything from Olivia Newton John whose music seems to have been "cancelled" by all the radio stations as she literally is never played, despite being one of the most successful singers/actresses of the 70s and early 80s.

Watched Martin Compstons Norwegian Fling. Oh the music on that. Brilliant.

Snippit · 13/03/2024 18:56

Gary Davis played an old favourite of the late Steve Wright, Party Fears Two by The Associates. I would play that record over and over as a teenager, still love it.

Go West - We Close Our Eyes. Joyous!

I saw Go West at Rewind last summer and they did this and King of Wishful thinking. They were absolutely brilliant and the lead singer has an amazing voice

Bet that was amazing! I saw Marti Pellow a few years back and was blown away by his voice. Love Is All Around brought the house down!

I have a day off tomorrow and am making a playlist from these suggestions. Thank you!

After their time in the limelight, The Bluebells played our college ball and were fabulous. Young At Heart takes me back to a time when I truly was…

Seal "Kiss from a Rose" love this song.I watched Doctors yesterday and one of the characters was singing it. Doctors is the only soap I watch, its so bad its brilliant 2020s Crossroads.

This was one of my best best songs growing up. Something so beautifully nostalgic even before I was old enough for nostalgia

I went to see the Associates when they played in an almost empty local nightclub. They were good live but very niche at the time.

I was also a big fan of Japan and occasionally hear the odd track on Greatest Hits Radio (the new Radio 2)

Saw ABC the other week. Anne Dudley conducted the Southbank Sinfonia. Second half was The Lexicon of Love right through. So good!

daliesque · 13/03/2024 20:20

Not heard Aztec Camera's Somewhere In My Heart for ages.,

Had forgotten how good that song is. Have just added to my favourite Spotify play list 😍

I heard Dancehall Days by Wang Chung on TOTP the other week - I'd forgotten how good it was.

I just googled young at heart to see what year it came out fully expecting it to be 90's but it was released in 1984! No wonder it hasn't popped up on any of my 90s playlists.

I hadn't heard murder on the dance floor for donkeys years until it resurfaced due to Saltburn. Now it's everywhere of course, and I'm bloody loving it!

Young at Heart was re-released in 1993 and hit number one (1984 release got to number 8) so it can legitimately be either an 80s or 90s hit😃

Go West - We Close Our Eyes. Joyous!

Saw them live at a small day festival about 16/17 years ago. They were awesome!

Crazy For You by Let Loose. Such a beautiful pop song.

Your Woman by White Town. Great song that brings back loads of good memories from my youth!

@I'llBuyThatForADollar I just had to go and listen to both of those, classics! And the drummer from Let Loose was a total smoke show. I had a poster of him on my wall when I was in high school.

The ballad of Tom Jones - Space and Cerys Matthews

Cheating slightly as it was on radio 2 recently, but it had been sooo long since id heard it, i'd completely forgotten it existed! It was like rediscovering treasure!
