Any recent experiences of sending flowers?

I’ll be sending my mother flowers for Mothers Day and also separately May send some following a death.

What company do you recommend or not? (I did look for similar recent threads but didn’t find one but feel free to just link instead. I know it is quite a regular topic.)

Serenata Flowers have been reliable. Also Bloom and Wild.

thatneverhappened · 03/03/2024 17:58

I love bloom and wild. They look more expensive on face of it but there's usually a discount code and they're way nicer imo

LoreleiG · 03/03/2024 17:58

Marks and Spencers.

IncognitoUsername · 03/03/2024 17:59

Bloom and Wild letterbox flowers are excellent as the person doesn’t have to be in to receive them. I had some recently and watching them revive themselves was fascinating.

Yellowsubmarineunderthesea · 03/03/2024 17:59

I usually find a florist local to the person and I contact them directly. Find I get a more personal touch

DillDanding · 03/03/2024 18:00

I send flowers a lot. I like Waitrose and also M&S and Next.

We get Freddie’s Flowers here and sometimes I divert my delivery to someone else - but this is only suitable for someone that can arrange them.

I don’t use local florists as I find them a rip off.

munchmagic · 03/03/2024 18:02

We have just lost my Dad (just over one week ago) so perhaps I can help as someone who has recently received a lot of different flower deliveries. The nicest ones we have received have been Prestige Flowers and Next. They are lasting the longest by far. Our Prestige ones also included a vase which I strongly recommend for the person who has experienced a bereavement. They will have so many deliveries and be likely running out of vases (something I'd never considered) so whoever you use try and include a vase if you can. What a thoughtful person you sound. Bloom and wild. As PP said there's usually a code. If the recipient may be out then they do letterbox flowers which are gorgeous. They do tend to arrive not open but within a day or two you can watch them bloom. They also do subscriptions of these which we club together and get my mum sometimes. I've only ever had a problem once and their customer service was excellent.

BaleOfHay · 03/03/2024 18:06

For Mother's Day I'd sent scented narcissus (so?) from Scilly Flowers. UK grown, family business, amazing value.

munchmagic · 03/03/2024 18:06

Adding in a quick review of Bloom and Wild. Yes the letterbox thing is nice but as someone receiving so many deliveries and arranging a funeral etc the Bloom and Wild ones just felt like extra work! Very nice and beautiful and of course very kind and thoughtful of the senders (we received 5 Bloom and Wild letterbox deliveries on one day alone) but for the bereaved person send a ready made bunch with a vase!

Redglitter · 03/03/2024 18:07

I'd never recommend Next. I used them twice. Service was shocking and the flowers lasted no time

Bloom & Wild are great. Their flowers last ages. Just so long as your Mum doesn't expect them to look like a bouquet because they won't. I got my Mum a subscription for Christmas and they tend not to look great initially because the flowers haven't opened. When they do tho they're gorgeous

Personally I prefer using a local florist. You tend to get better service & more for your money

Redglitter · 03/03/2024 18:09

but for the bereaved person send a ready made bunch with a vase

Oh definitely. We got so many flowers when my Dad died my Mum had to borrow vases. The ones with boxes/vases or mini buckets etc are much less hassle

PermanentTemporary · 03/03/2024 18:10

If I'm feeling flush I look up a decent independent florist near the person (I'm quite snobby about flowers so I spend a while looking at website galleries) and send a bouquet via my favourite.

For a very reliable option, Waitrose.

I would never turn Bloom and Wild away but I don't like them that much.

ILoveSalmonSpread · 03/03/2024 18:10

I usually use a local independent florist.
Bloom and Wild flowers can be hit and miss, and i don't think a grieving person wants to have to construct their own bouquet.

Serenata have let me down a few times with already faded blooms.

M&S and Next have always been lovely but the price reflects that.

Choupet · 03/03/2024 18:11

I prefer to use a local independent florist.

Amaarlia · 03/03/2024 18:12

Having just had numerous boquets delivered please buy/order locally.

Flowers from our local independents, still ordered from people out if area, were beautiful and lasted three weeks and more.

Flowers from national online companies, died very quickly.

Prestige Flowers were the worst. Two bouquets received from them. One quite poor quality, drooping flowers and a broken stem.
Boxes delivered by RM.

A second larger bouquet from Prestige Flowers much worse.
Roses brown on arrival, and dead looking within two days. I complained and as requested sent photos. They agreed to replace but unfortunately chose to replace with a much cheaper bouquet, nothing like the £56.00 one that our colleagues had ordered for us.

The second bouquet hasn't lasted either, the ‘independents’ outlasting even this second poor offering.

Moonpigs flower offering wasn't delivered correctly, the box left on our patio, at the side of the house we hardly use. I didn't find them until three days after delivery. They did refund the sender, who was very disappointed.

Again, our lovely ‘indies’ knock in the door and deliver with a smile!

AnnaMagnani · 03/03/2024 18:14

I also use Scilly Flowers for Mother's Day, lovely to send in season UK flowers and they are always reliable.

Thank you for posting when things are so recent and sorry for your loss. I’m waiting to find out whether the family want flowers at all for the funeral. Some lovely ideas for my mum.

Avoid Presitge Flowers. As per PP we had a large bouquet recently, roses dead within a few days, lilies never opened out and far too much greenery filler. Such a waste of money.

Found Next and M&S the best recently.
Had a big disappointment with Bloom and. Wild, and they are faffy to sort out.

BIossomtoes · 03/03/2024 18:30

I had three bouquets for a recent birthday. The best by a mile was from Monsoon.

NCForQuestions · 03/03/2024 18:32

Freddies Flowers. Consistently excellent. You can send a one off box, you don't need to sign up to the regular boxes.
