Has anyone ever successfully turned round a fussy eater

Because I’m at the end of my tether with my youngest.

My eldest is fine and eats most things, always has. My 3 year old on the other hand is so fussy- there is not one vegetable she will eat, won’t touch meat or fish , (not even a fish finger or nugget)

Meal wise she only eats:
pesto pasta- sometimes
jacket potato with beans
A spicy rice (her dad makes)

I have never taken anything off her plate hoping she’d grow out of this fussiness, no signs of that.

I am starting to think food is like sleep, parents who say it’s down to parenting have never been presented with such a child. I’ve had enough of wasted food.

What’s pesto pasta? If that’s pasta with pesto on and nothing else then surely that’s just a side like pots, rice or chips? How did you end up serving just pasta?

I can't speak for the poster you're responding to, but what's wrong with serving pasta on its own? We often have just pasta with a sauce for dinner (vegetarian or containing meat), and so do many other people. If we're being fancy, with fresh veggies on the side.

My son as a toddler would basically only eat beetroot (from a jar - every meal I would serve a bunch of things plus beetroot and he'd only eat the beetroot. He looked like a vampire with red all round his mouth!) and things like chips with ketchup. He really liked ketchup so I started serving everything with ketchup (and I mean everything, he even had pancakes with ketchup) and he started to taste things more and more. He's 6 now and is starting to eat meals without ketchup when he forgets (I stop offering ketchup now and only get it if he asks for it) and eats a good variety.

She will grow out of it. DD was a very fussy eater when she was younger and barely ate for the first few years of her life! Now 19 and a very good, healthy + adventurous eater

I'm always impressed by all these fussy MNer children who never drink milk or juice or have sweets, crisps, chips, biscuits, sausages, party foods, cheese, baked beans, yogurt, chicken nuggets, pizza, sandwiches, toast, breakfast cereal, porridge, or any form of junk food. That seems to be super common on MN. Maybe lack of exposure before the fussy phase starts? DS ate at least some of those other foods, at least.

Surely you’ve heard of pesto pasta before in your life, get off your high horse 🙄 It’s a perfectly normal lunch in our house - everything in moderation!

Yes. When I was 9 I wanted to become vegetarian and my mum said I could on condition of eating more vegetables than baked beans and raw carrots. So I started to eat everything and still do (except meat obvs).
