Just as the title says really.

If you have any plans for next Sunday which is Mothering Sunday what are they, I'm just being noisy and lacking in inspiration.

What ever your plans hope everyone has a lovely time.

I'm told I'm being taken out by DH and DD 11. And I plan to do not much else ☺️

I've left a present at my DMum's (she's in her 90s, and I was there last week - my DBro will be there on The Day)

I'll be running a Half in the morning (so I can justify pizza and red wine later on)

And will be fervently hoping that the DS who currently lives here gets me the traditional bunch of daffs and that t'others (who don't) ring up

(It's a Six Nations weekend but the Sunday fixture isn't one that interests me much)

Angelik · 03/03/2024 21:38

DCs want to do something so i've asked for breakfast in bed (though I'll probably be up hours before everyone). If it's a dry day, I'll be dragging them all into the garden to start preparing soil for new grass - I am a great mother 😀 for my mum - she doesn't care about the day and I gave birth to her first born grandchild on mother's day in 2010 so that day can't be topped! She would agree

TheChosenTwo · 03/03/2024 21:42

I’ll go for a swim first thing in the morning and then we’ve got mil coming round for a lunch along with dhs other siblings which will be really nice and then it’ll be a quick turnaround as we’ve got my mum coming for dinner along with my siblings 😂
I think we will avoid eating too much at lunch!

MillenialAvocado · 03/03/2024 21:42

Going to church in the morning with DS and possibly my Mum, then going out for an afternoon tea with them both. I think it's the first time we've ever actually done anything for Mother's Day, was never a big deal growing up. She's coming to visit for a few days though so thought we should do something nice.

PurplePansy05 · 03/03/2024 21:46

I'm being treated to a nice lunch and I've already had a lovely new pair of slippers as my old favourites have fallen apart. I have Sat morning to myself to for a little pamper, nails etc. Very chill, just how I like it 😊

MsSquiz · 03/03/2024 21:54

DH, Our girls (aged 4 and almost 2) and I are going out for lunch to the local Italian restaurant because their Prosecco is my favourite and the girls demolish their tomato pasta!
Depending on the weather, after that, we might go for a walk or watch a movie.

Both DH's and my DM have both sadly died, so no one else to visit or spend the day with

Lesina · 03/03/2024 21:55

getting up on the horse after a very serious accident last March. Hop
I won’t break everything again :)

Deargodletitgo · 03/03/2024 21:58

Kids are with their dad until 5ish so probably nothing, they won't know it's mother's day (although may be involved with something for exes DP). Honestly doesn't worry me, he never organised anything when we were married anyway

MirandaWest · 03/03/2024 21:59

I’m going to be running a half marathon 😃

Maverickess · 03/03/2024 22:10

Working. I might be able to pop in and see my mum after I finish, depending on what time I can escape, but we're back to back bookings all day so may not be able to.
Probably just get home and get my jamas on like any other busy day and see what the fridge has to offer. DD will probably be around but doing her own thing at 20.

PandaG · 03/03/2024 22:15

Spending the weekend visiting DD. Will go to her church in the morning, have a simple lunch, then either an afternoon of board games or museum visiting depending on which we did the day before, followed by dinner out with her and bf before we all join DD's regular pub quiz team (we do this each Sunday we visit) before a late night drive home.

ilovebagpuss · 03/03/2024 22:20

Nothing unusual, my DD's asked me what I would like and I said a couple bunches of cheap daffs.
MIL will have card and flowers DH went to see her this weekend.
I might pop to my DM's grave.

Ladyof2024 · 03/03/2024 17:53

I have scheduled a little cry cos I miss my mummy.

Same Flowers

Scottishskifun · 03/03/2024 22:21

No idea probably chuckle as I watch DH try to arrange something that morning and everything be booked.....its a usual theme!

DumpedByText · 03/03/2024 22:21

Nothing, DD is working in posh cafe serving Mother's Day breakfast/lunch. I'm going to make us a roast lamb dinner for when she gets back.

mumofblu · 03/03/2024 22:23

Me, my sister and cousin are taking our 80 year old mum out along with 4 teenagers and 2 pre -teens . After many years of never doing anything we make it an occasion. We have booked a Chinese buffet . All of us married but sending husbands to see their respective mumsWink

Dacadactyl · 03/03/2024 22:25

I'm having my MIL and FIL round to ours for a meal that I'm cooking.

Racingadmin · 03/03/2024 22:28

It's my mums first Mother's Day without her mum / my nan . I'm baking her a banana cake and will hang out at her house

Dh is working and young adult dc haven't mentioned anything but priority is my mum and making sure that she's ok . It's going to be weird as the last 5 years I haven't been with her on Mother's Day as she would be visiting my nan who lived 3 hours away

MuggleMe · 03/03/2024 23:00

Rocknrollstar · 03/03/2024 17:36

First Mother’s Day without my mother. DD is cooking me lunch and my sister is joining us. My son is taking me out for dinner on the following Tuesday but will pop In on Sunday morning. DH will pretend it’s just a normal day.

Fwiw I went ahead and booked the harvester a couple of weeks ago (as I did last year). We have joint finances and it ensures I don't cook. I have in the past been direct about what my favourite flowers and chocs are. I've accepted he's crap at this stuff and made it less likely I'll be disappointed. Can you tell him straight you'd like acknowledgment this is a hard day for you.

scaredofff · 03/03/2024 23:10

It's my birthday during the week and we're going to the highlands for that so Mother's Day is the day we check out of the cabin. We'll be strolling the beautiful Aviemore for the afternoon and have a lovely (booked in advance) meal before driving 3hr home and popping into mil on the way.
I'll visit my mum on Monday with ds. She will be recovering from chemo so I can't take her out for the lunch I had booked. I have a flower delivery going to her instead, already in a vase so she doesn't have to arrange them herself while not well

Springdeclutter · 03/03/2024 23:19

My expectation is a card and a gift and church do very nice Mothering Sunday service.

It will be the second one without my Mum and the MIL is not doing too good so there’s some tensions around the day.

PrimalLass · 03/03/2024 23:54

7 hours on a train with 2 changes 😫
