Chips?
Mash?
Fritters?
Dauphinoise?
Salad?

Inspire me!

Mash but must be made with lots of butter and double cream and almost be liquid 😂 (we rarely eat mash!)

also a big fan of a nice well made crispy rosti.

Chips aren’t my favourite but I love fries, they can be made atrociously though so I’m wary!

Love a dauphinois 😋

I'm Irish, and we love a floury mash, though with a lot of butter. But not too smooth. Divisive Hmm?

mommybear1 · 29/02/2024 19:04

As a comfort food mash lashings of butter and sea salt otherwise roasted love potatoes in any form tbh 🤣🤣

TheChosenTwo · 29/02/2024 19:10

Oh no @GivingOutYards - it must be smooth!!! Ours goes through the ricer twice just to be on the safe side 😂

I have to say though that the boiled potato is possibly the worst food of all time, not even just in the category of potatoes, just in terms of general food! Absolutely appalling!

Jacket potatoes with lots of butter and salt and a nice crispy skin

Lozza70 · 29/02/2024 19:38

Hassleback, must be Sainsbury’s Charlotte potatoes. Brush with loads of butter, slot bay leaves I to the slots and sprinkle with smoked sea salt. Once out of the oven chuck the bay leaves and sprinkle with loads of feta and chives.

Oh and tornado potatoes! I can't go to a festival without getting a stick

What's this please?

Love potatoes all ways but not heard of this one.

Runnyyolkplease · 29/02/2024 20:00

I forgot… hot potato salad with bacon, caramelised onion and cider vinegar!

Also… crisps!

AdoraBell · 29/02/2024 20:02

Roast potatoes or dauphinois for me. DH likes roast/mash/chips - all together if he could.

RabbitsRock · 29/02/2024 20:03

How to choose?!
Jersey Royals with butter & mint
Potato Salad
Roasted
Mashed with double cream
Jacket spuds
Chip shop chips, with or without cheese

ImpossibleGirl · 29/02/2024 20:09

Becky's squished crispy ones, but instead of parboiling, I steam them in the instant pot with whole garlic cloves and squish the garlic onto the potatoes for baking.

Or roughly crushed new potatoes, skin on, again with the garlic squished in, with loads of butter, half a lemon juiced and lots of sliced spring onion. Also works with torn basil instead of spring onion

Wedged, tossed in Cajun seasoning, oil and air fried until leathery and crisp

Mini crispy roast or sauted

I want tatties now ....

jellybe · 29/02/2024 20:12

Buttery mash or roast potatoes or boiled new potatoes or chips or hash browns or... just all the ways! Potatoes are brilliant!

ashtyler · 29/02/2024 20:15

The most exemplary vegetable must be an excellent boiled potato served in a superbly featured room ;)

RamanaBanana · 29/02/2024 20:18

I don't mind as long as they're cooked.

BarelyLiterate · 29/02/2024 20:19

I really shouldn’t read threads like this, because I now want to scoff all the spuds. 😋

My personal favourite is DP’s amazing garlicky dauphinoise. It’s a very occasional treat, though.

BloodyAdultDC · 29/02/2024 20:32

Jerseys, boiled with mint, and a fuck-tonne of butter.

And dauphinoise. Food of the gods.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 29/02/2024 19:42

What's this please?

Love potatoes all ways but not heard of this one.

Spiral cut spud on a stick and then it's deep fried and dipped in seasonings or sauces or melted cheese!

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 29/02/2024 21:48

Sounds yummy !

AhBiscuits · 29/02/2024 21:51

I like new potatoes boiled and then crushed, add sea salt and roast until crispy.

Kalevala · 29/02/2024 21:52

Last night's mash reheated in the oven with extra butter on top.

Kalevala · 29/02/2024 21:53

Or goose fat roasties

Blahblarblehbleh · 29/02/2024 21:53

I love grated fried potato like an American hashbrown 😋

JanglingJack · 29/02/2024 22:00

I constantly crave our childhood potato salad made with springs onions and... Salad cream! 😂

I constantly forget to buy salad cream, but it appears nobody likes potato salad in our local One Stop so I'll happily grab them all reduced to 9p and tuck in.

Roast potatoes too, but have to be par boiled, floured with seasoning and rosemary... Best left until cool just to dip in the pan gravy - miss the dinner completely.

Sofahugs · 29/02/2024 22:06

i like to cube peeled potatoes, stick them in a bowl and coat with oil and salt, and then add some spices like paprika, oregano, chilli flakes, pil biber etc I just judge it by eye, until the potatoes look evenly coated and stick them in for about 40 mins at 200c. Lovely with grilled or roasted meat or fish, and can go with salad or veg sides

beetr00 · 29/02/2024 22:18

for those who don't like dauphinoise, boulangère potatoes may appeal? (rosemary optional ime, just don't forget the garlic) 😋
