I’m only asking this based on another thread I’m on which is about second marriages.

If either you are on your second marriage, or you are the second spouse of your DH/DW, how old were you when you/they got married for the second time?

Me and my DH always joke that if we divorced we wouldn’t have the energy to even date again let alone get married again 😂

I’m just curious as I’m 40 and I genuinely can’t imagine being of an age of wanting to get married again should me and DH ever separate or death occur.

First married at 23, divorced at 33. Said I'd never get married again.

Married DH at 39, now 46. DH is love of my life. If anything ever happened? Can't imagine I'd do it again - I've been spoiled in my relationship with DH, think my expectations would be too high 😂 Plus I've become much more contented with who I am, I can't imagine wanting to try and build a new life with someone new.

I married when I was 23, divorced at 40. Not remarried but in a relationship now. My DP has been married twice before! First was very young (21, no kids) and divorced a few years later. Married again at 33 I think, divorced at 40. One kid aged 8. I have two kids aged 8 and 13.
Not sure we'll marry tbh but we are happy together as we are. Both been married to narcissists, and it's such a blessed relief to be in a happy, honest, communicative relationship. Until I met DP I was not at all interested in another relationship but these things surprise you!

Married DH at 27, he was 37. He was married from 21 to 30 , we met at 23 and 33.
Married for 30 years.
He has 2 DC, we have 2 DC together, all get on.
He was not on particularly good terms with ex W initially but all good now and has been for a long time.
It was several years in to our marriage before I realised how brave he was to do it all again 🤣🤣.
Not sure if I would again (age wise) but never say never.

I was 18 when I first married. It lasted 32 years, and then divorce at my instigation.

Married again at 50. He was the love of my life, but died last year.

First marriage I was 29, second I was 34. Obviously the first one didn't last very long!!

It's been ten years now I can imagine being bothered enough to do it again now.

First marriage 28 and I think H was about the same. When we got married we were both 38

I do find the much held MN sentiment of "I'd never get married again" a bit annoying, as it's often said by those who are happily married, with no life experience in that field!

Amen to this. I’m a widow and this is a widely held view, not just on MN. It’s a crashingly insensitive thing to say to someone who has experienced a terrible loss. It’s just so smug. And judgemental. It goes hand in hand with “if anything happened to my husband I’d never get over it” as though watching me existing and coping on a day to day basis is proof I didn’t really love my husband as much as they do.

Thank you. I adored my husband and although we divorced, my view is that I'd like a second relationship/marriage because I liked being in a couple.

Having said that, I think if the first marriage was not that good, then a second can be an improvement, so it is easier to say/think "go for it".
I also find it interesting that a lot of the posters here got divorced the first time quite young so not surprising they married again.
I'm sorry to hear you are widowed, and I hope you find as much peace as you can.
