Good Morning Mumsnet! What's Everyone Up To Today?

I've just made my first cuppa of the day & am about to drink it in my kitchen spot. The window's open to let some fresh air in & it'a looking like a lovely day out there.

I'll get the washer going in a mo so the washing can go on the line.

Dd1's up and out already! She's off to an open day at York Uni, she met up with a friend from secondary school to travel, and there are a few of her college friends going too.

I'm not sure if me and dd2 are doing anything yet...my feet are aching after this week! I've been to all sorts of extra things after work, mainly on foot, & I don't think I want to walk any more.

That said, she did mention going for a wander at a local shopping outlet earlier on. So we'll see when she gets up whether she still wants to go. We can always bus straight there and back again.

If not, I have a dress to pin, bag to repair, and want to carry on adding beads to my Eras Tour jacket. Or I'll see if my dad fancies a drive out to the outlet maybe, he wanted to nip to the garden centre of the B&M so could probably be persuaded 🤔

No idea what's for tea, something quick and easy - what are you all having?

& what are you all up to? 🙂

@Tiddlywinks63 My DH is also a "ram it in the freezer" person. It's good on the one hand, but otoh it means I can never find anything and I never know whether to buy freezer things when I'm out shopping incase they won't fit - even if I spot bargains.

That’s exactly what happens here 🙄, it’s tidy for the time being, if I’m honest we could pretty much only buy milk and fruit/veg for several weeks because there’s enough meat and fish to feed us for at least a month! So that’s the plan…..
I sometimes wish I hadn’t bought such a big fridge freezer but living 8 miles from the nearest supermarket and getting cut off in bad weather I have learned the hard way!

Been up for ages and done very little! End of HT here so I'm up to speed with house stuff. About to go for a pre-lunch walk as the rest of the day will be rugby, rugby, football
DS is deep in GCSE mocks revision

Have a good day all

Hello @lucysmam thanks for starting the thread. A glorious sunny day here & we've been out for a dog walk & to a local service to commemorate the 2 year anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine war...very poignant & moving.

Can't wait to get the first load of washing on the line shortly!

Doing a bit of work & some revision for a forthcoming exam & being easily distracted by Mumsnet for a couple of hours before making a late lunch/early tea for DS who is working tonight. Will also prepare a chicken & tarragon casserole for DH & me to have this evening, we are looking forward to a cosy evening in front of the wood burner with a glass of wine or two.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Notimeforaname · 24/02/2024 12:56

I've had about 9 cups of tea since 8am. Partners been to dentist.

Weve sorted out our holiday clothes, only 2 weeks to wait!! And I'll go out with my best friend in a couple of hours for a late brunch.

embolass · 24/02/2024 12:59

Two loads of washing done earlier and some out in the sun to dry- lovely getting out in the fresh air. Had the dog out earlier, hoovered and just thrown some yellow sticker reduced veg in the soup maker and it’s done already, forgot it only takes 21 mins.
Will head into town with DH soon to look for mother in law birthday gift and perhaps a vino too. Then home to make steak and chips , mushrooms pepper sauce for three of us, DS 1 away for weekend. Such a quieter house without him which Im quite enjoying 😂

Got up at about 9.45 after the foolish decision of letting the cats sleep upstairs and one of them waking me up at half 6. Took me ages to get back to sleep.

I have taken two bags of board games to the charity shop and put a load out on the line. It is cold out but hoping the sun will dry some of it. Once I have stopped procrastinating, I will need to list some clothes and shoes on Ebay.

It's a lazy day here. We had a late one with overnight guests and wine last night. Today I've cooked a big breakfast for everyone, they've gone and I've stripped and remade the beds and got the laundry going, had a bath, did a nice face cleanse with lovely serums and creams after to help counter the effects of wine and the late night, put on some fabulous home wear.... and now it will be the sofa for the rest of the day binging S4 of For All Mankind. There may be a nap and/or another pot of tea in there somewhere.

Baneofmyexistence · 24/02/2024 13:28

We’ve been to visit my dad who had a knee op earlier this week. Had some lunch back at home and one of the DC had a party this afternoon so DH is taking him and I might take the other two for a walk as the weather is nice here. I’ve got beef goulash in the slow cooker and a few treats to eat with Gladiators tonight then DH and I are going to continue watching Slow Horses once DC are in bed. Fairly leisurely Saturday which suits me!

Witchbitch20 · 24/02/2024 13:32

Food shop.
Home Bargains shop.
Made a loaf of bread.

Now settling down to watch the Red Shoes (for the millionth time).

Andnowshesatoddler · 24/02/2024 13:33

We were in due on a play date this afternoon but my friends little girl isn't well so we're having an afternoon at home.
Have been for a wonder round a local village earlier for a coffee and brunch.
Perhaps go see some family later.

riotlady · 24/02/2024 14:07

Been to Lidl to do the food shop this morning, no performing arts for DD as it’s half term so she’s had a lazy tv morning. We’ve had an indoor picnic for lunch and 6mo DS got to try his first bit of food- toast with hummus! Seemed very enthused by the concept, forgot what an absolute mess weaning makes 😂

Currently I have DS napping on me and I can hear DD helping DH with the washing up downstairs, which is very sweet. When DS wakes up we’re going to go to the park for a bit then tonight it’s Domino’s and Gladiators!

It's not an iPhone it's an android training phone!

It has been found. And boring mummy lectures on, think this through methodologically, retrace your steps.......given.

I found it obviously

JamSandle · 24/02/2024 14:16

Some life admin. Want to save money so cancelled all weekend plans. Will go for a walk, read, do my tasks and chill with my family.

FayKnights · 24/02/2024 14:35

@Eggsley sorry if you already know this, but I only found out recently and thought I’d share, some banks allow you to pay in cheques via the app, they don’t need the physical cheque.
You just scan it. Blew my tiny mind!!
