What you wanted to be when you grew up VS what you do now!

Wanted to be a Musical Theatre Actress, am an Operations director for a popular Restaurant Chain!

At which stage.... I wanted to be...a librarian, fighter pilot, air traffic controller, interpreter, engineer....
What do I do? Teach English at overseas universities.

Back in my very early 20s when I was applying for the sponsorship route, the airline used mainly Airbus A320s and A321s, so I would have been type rated for both.

I flew on one a couple of months ago and was thinking "if only". Still, I've not done too badly.

I wanted to be a painting and drawing artist. I am a microblading artist. It's not my dream job but love being self employed. Would still like to be a painting and drawing artist.

Wanted to be a teacher am now a HT have loved and hated it in equal measure . Definitely entering my last couple of years if it . It's all consuming!

I wanted to be a showjumper. A bad accident finished that off. The I wanted to work in poverty alleviation. Which I did for about 10 years. Then I moved to a job UK-based instead of travelling and now do admin for a charity.

I'm generally pretty happy with how things turned out.

An actress. I'm a coaching psychologist. Looking back, I was quite a shy child and getting involved in drama gave me so much confidence. It wouldn't have been the right career for me though!

Initially I wanted to be an air hostess but my mum told me I wasn't pretty enough 🙁but am kinda glad I didn't get into it. I think it would have been great for a while but nowadays it doesn't sound like a good job.

My other choice was to be a criminal defence barrister but I think there would have ended up being too many barriers in my way and defence solicitor pays peanuts! I ended up in the probation service so kind of similar.

Has anyone read 'Confessions of a fourth something F* up'? I've just finished reading it and couldn't put it down. Honestly, it doesn't matter what decade your life is in, it is so true. All about the life you thought you were going to have vs the life you have been dealt. Highly recommend it.

I wanted to be a Nurse. I became a Nursery Nurse, and also worked later as a Healthcare Assistant in a hospital. Did start training to become a Counsellor, but haven't completed that just yet. I am also interested in becoming a Psychologist otherwise.
