Aw @PoppyAndParsnip sorry to hear you're feeling sad. Still plenty of time to hop back on and get a decent chunk in over autumn if you're still keen. I'm still vainly hoping for 100 days before Xmas, but even if I only do most of it I think I'll be pleased with that. Hope you don't feel too rubbish today.

Awful night sleep again for me and no one and nothing to blame but (I think) hormones! Bit cross to not be feeling better but hopefully it will come.

Thank you, this is true and a good goal. I will try again :-(

SoberIsTheNew50 · 07/09/2024 07:05

@PoppyAndParsnip - snap.

But we are not failures. It's an addictive substance and its no wonder we get addicted, or dependant, or find it hard to give up.

Anyway- this afternoon I am taking the Dcs to the cinema. (Beetlejuice). I have to drive so that means no drinking.

And I am starting a list of evening 'KHO' (Keeping Hand Occupied'. My first KHO is writing Christmas cards. I know its way way way too early, but for some reason I just want to write all my Christmas cards and have them stamped and ready to go for sending on the first of December. . I am that person who forgets every year, and the npanic-sends to people as their cards to us hit the mat.

Another KHO is going to be baking. Another- knitting etc.

But today- cinema
Tomorrow- Christmas cards.

Hugs to everyone hope today is a great sober day! Thanks

Morning all.
Just checking in to say hi and hope you’re doing well. I was in Sainsbury’s the other day and saw they had their 25% off wine offer on. We always used to stock up when the supermarkets do this. There was a display of rosé cremant de Loire beckoning me ☹️
Well I stayed strong but am really feeling the urge.

Hope the rest of you are managing fine. Don’t beat yourself up if you have a little relapse, just start again.

Knitting is a good call @SoberIsTheNew50 … see if I can start and finish a project before Christmas!

alwaysclockwise · 08/09/2024 12:46

@SoberIsTheNew50 and @PoppyAndParsnip
Do not give up,please!
There aren't many of us as it is...You can just add extra days at the beginning of October

I was really tempted last night!
The trouble is I have a cabinet full of alcohol leftover after bbq night on last day of August. It's like 2 bottles of white,2 red,Prosecco,Aperol, other liqueurs, you name it but had to stay strong and thinking about people on this thread helped

HollyGolightly4 · 08/09/2024 19:32

I really struggled with Sunday dinner today. It would have been so easy! I just gritted my teeth and drank some ribena in a wine glass!

Don't beat yourself up though, it's a long standing habit!

KHO is a great mantra.

HollyGolightly4 · 14/09/2024 17:11

Hope everyone is doing ok.

I've been sober for all of September, but I'm meeting a friend and really want to break it tonight. I know it will be just 1 as she is driving.

I've had a shitty day and feel ill. Can someone talk sense into me please?

DJ24 · 14/09/2024 23:03

Sorry didn’t see this earlier. How did you get on Holly?

HollyGolightly4 · 15/09/2024 00:07

I did it!! Had a zero peroni. Was tricky at the start, but I'm home and feeling very pleased with myself 😆. Hope you have all enjoyed a sober Saturday too!

alwaysclockwise · 15/09/2024 11:32

I stupidly broke my 12 days alcohol free streak by drinking a can of cider last night!
Just felt miserable...but angry this morning as I really could have looked for a different, alcohol free option to boost my mood 😐

pollyannaperspective · 15/09/2024 21:48

Big do on Saturday. Had two sips of champagne and decided to have no more. That was a significant decision - as usually would have led to 'just one more'.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Half way through the month.

HollyGolightly4 · 16/09/2024 06:55

Don't beat yourself up @alwaysclockwise it happens, you can get back on it now ♥️

HollyGolightly4 · 21/09/2024 11:27

I hope everyone is getting on ok! How are you all doing?

pollyannaperspective · 21/09/2024 17:25

Thanks for asking HollyGolightly4. Glad to be passed 2/3 of the month. Happy to continue as AF for this week. Last phase of house renovation nearly done and house feels much better now, so the stress induced temptation to drink to 'escape' has mostly disappeared.

Hope everyone else is getting on well with their individual aims.

DJer24 · 22/09/2024 07:59

I'm 3 weeks AF tomorrow, feeling a few benefits but definitely not loving it, I think I've got a lingering virus or something as definitely not feeling 100%, so slightly resentful of that!

Hoping it passes as it's feeling a bit joyless at the moment! Thankfully I'm past any cravings so stubbornness is carrying me through now. Think I've lost a few pounds though and some puffiness, and I'm definitely able to fall back to sleep more easily if I wake in the night.

Still hoping for 100 days AF which would take me up to the Christmas period. But can't make any promises as have a half term holiday with some big drinkers ...
