All good here on Day 3.

pollyannaperspective · 02/09/2024 10:07

Glad to be on board. I had been pondering to break my AF run in September - 'just the occasional glass of wine", I had said to myself. However, it would never be that, so happy to continue on as AF for now and avoid the likely overindulgence. I also find it much easier to keep on 'keeping on' than to break an AF period and then have to restart.
So Day 1 September completed and on to day 2.
Hope everyone has a great day - first day of the new school year here.

Checking in!

I woke up full of beans this morning and had achieved alot of housekeeping by 8.30. Hoping to continue the momentum!

DJer24 · 02/09/2024 10:32

Today is my planned day 1 after a weekend away, but feeling ready for it. Bath and early night tonight. Last day of the hols tomo!

alwaysclockwise · 02/09/2024 11:34

Today is my "unplanned" day 1!
We had some neighbours and friends round for a BBQ on Sat so I knew I will not start before 1st Sept but yesterday gave in to the leftover opened bottle of Prosecco...
Drowing a line and onwards now!

Day 4, the start of work after a bit of a summer break, and I did have to exercise a fair bit of restraint not to stop off in the supermarket to buy a drink.

Coming home from work often is a trigger for the craving of an alcoholic drink. My brain is usually in overdrive after work and calming it down can be a challenge.

But I drove on and had a hot chocolate instead and I'm going to hop on the treadmill for a while in about an hour.

HPLikecraft · 02/09/2024 20:57

Have a good evening everyone! I’ve cracked open an AF San Miguel and am planning an evening of Scandi Noir!

DJ24 · 02/09/2024 21:14

I’m glad to have this thread. There’s the dregs of DP’s bottle of wine from the weekend in the fridge and I would have grabbed that at mealtime today, but I thought of you all and resisted.

vinoandbrie · 02/09/2024 21:41

I wanted to buy a bottle of wine tonight (first day back at work after annual leave, ugh), but I went for a walk instead and then the craving left me.

As the nights draw in, there won’t be that many evenings left where I can take a walk, I enjoyed it the more for that.

alwaysclockwise · 02/09/2024 22:01

Already marked the day as dry on my Dry days App an hour ago Grin

Michiru · 03/09/2024 21:20

Today was very tempting. Work was draining and I wanted little more than to sit at home and unwind. I haven't had any time for exercise today, which doesn't help matters. But I kept reminding myself of the benefits of staying sober, including better sleep, which I need on the shorter weekday sleep hours I am on.

DJer24 · 03/09/2024 21:27

I'm back on the try dry app too, it lost its appeal in around May in the end, but hopefully I will get back in to getting my daily teacup Grin craved fizzy drinks of any kind this evening - now hoping for a nice sober sleep.

PoppyAndParsnip · 03/09/2024 22:19

Hello all, I’m starting today after a birthday celebration! Happy to be back and really need to feel good this month. Funny how you notice the cravings when you stop and think, always around 7 for me usually with food. Or when I get home late from kids sports

alwaysclockwise · 04/09/2024 20:07

How is everyone doing?
I am gonna mark the day as dry in a minute just to make it happen Smile

DJ24 · 04/09/2024 21:14

Today’s been ok. .

yesterday, had a low alcohol cider to go with my meal as it was something where the smell makes me fancy a drink to go with it. However felt quite bloated after and didn’t sleep well, so regretted that.

DJer24 · 04/09/2024 21:47

Safely in bed with another AF day ticked, but yet to enjoy much sober sleep as dc has put paid to that!

HollyGolightly4 · 04/09/2024 21:50

Ticked off my try dry app at 5pm today to make myself not have anything 😂. Already planning my work rounds for the weekend!

PoppyAndParsnip · 04/09/2024 22:01

Day 2 done here ✔️. These are the days I really need to stick to if I want things to become easier! I remember day 5 last time was my turning point. Had really dry mouth that day then suddenly turned corner and felt good. Wonder if it will be the same this time, I did 2 months AF jan and Feb, but have definitely overindulged this summer!

pollyannaperspective · 05/09/2024 16:28

Have managed to stay dry so far despite several home (DH) pressures that would previously have been swept, by me, under the 'overindulgence' carpet. So relieved to have got to the end of Tuesday and Wednesday without resorting to wine and DH is still alive too! Pressures are now easing a bit so hoping for an easier end to today and on to the end of the week.

DJer24 · 06/09/2024 09:23

Still going here, had excellent sleep quality the night before last (until dc woke me up at 3.30 Confused) but rubbish again last night. Looking a bit brighter in the face today nonetheless. It's also amazing how much puffier I am around the middle from a spot of summer drinking (may-aug). No shift in that just yet.

Think I'll be ok tonight but mustn't get cocky!!

alwaysclockwise · 06/09/2024 13:21

It's so satisfying to mark days with a 🏆 on my Dry Days app. It's now 4 in a row.
"Just keep swimming,keep swimming..." Wink

HollyGolightly4 · 06/09/2024 20:47

I thought I might be tempted tonight after first week back at work, but I'm just too tired 😴 hopefully here for a good night's sleep!

DJ24 · 06/09/2024 22:46

Day 7 here.

PoppyAndParsnip · 07/09/2024 04:17

I failed. I am sad.

DJer24 · 07/09/2024 06:09

Aw @PoppyAndParsnip sorry to hear you're feeling sad. Still plenty of time to hop back on and get a decent chunk in over autumn if you're still keen. I'm still vainly hoping for 100 days before Xmas, but even if I only do most of it I think I'll be pleased with that. Hope you don't feel too rubbish today.

Awful night sleep again for me and no one and nothing to blame but (I think) hormones! Bit cross to not be feeling better but hopefully it will come.
