Uk hotel in seafront

I had a nasty injury over Christmas and since then have been pretty much housebound. I'm gradually improving but January and February have been pretty rubbish in our house.

I'd love to go away over Easter for a few days. We've got older primary children. I was thinking a nice hotel on the seafront with a beach, amenities and things for the kids to do. I can't walk far so central and on the front is essential.

I've been saving up so we can splash out on 4/5 stars. We've been to Blackpool and Skegness last year so would like somewhere different.

Any recommendations of locations and/or hotels would be hugely appreciated. I have a vision of a hotel where I could just step out onto the prom near shops, arcades, ice cream and the beach! I hope it exists.

Thanks in advance. (Name changed as outing).

We went to Weymouth last year and it was lovely. Lots of hotel facing the beautiful, long, sandy beach and colourful amusements and fairground. Lots to do in and around Weymouth and it seemed a nice mix of people.

Eastbourne and Weymouth both great

Tootingbec · 22/02/2024 13:24

Eastbourne - The Grand is fancy and has an indoor pool.

But there seem to be lots of other nice looking (and less ££) hotels along the sea front

We stayed at the Sandbanks hotel with our children a few times, they loved it. It overlooks the beach and has beach access , there's also lots to do in Poole

OP, consider Eastbourne, very nice place or Bournemouth - many nice hotels with sea views, a fe mins walk from the sea.

I’d go for Llandudno or Exmouth. Both lovely. Exmouth has a brilliant long sandy beach which is great for kids.

Weymouth. We live very near Weymouth, and the beach is good, lots of hotels, B&Bs, restaurants & cafés etc along seafront.

mitogoshi · 22/02/2024 15:46

Paignton is an option, there's more than one hotel and the zoo is good

cestlavielife · 22/02/2024 16:50

Best western hove has big family rooms
Easy pay parking on street if onsite parking is full

DeathMetalMum · 22/02/2024 16:57

Llandudno would be good there's the pier with rides and arcade. You could go up the orme on the cable car. Main beach hasn't got loads of sand but I'm pretty sure they do a land train up to west shore - the sandier beach.

The marriott in bournemouth is divine. There's a lift down to the beach (it's cliff top) and there's indoor and outdoor pools, we've been a couple of times as it's so ideal for families.

Premier Inn in Sandown.

Trainham · 22/02/2024 17:10

Best western isle of man was brilliant even had access to a swimming pool

Ilovemyshed · 22/02/2024 17:27

You could look at Whitley Bay? There's a decent fairly new Premier Inn on the front, some great bars and restaurants and a sandy beach.

Ilovemyshed · 22/02/2024 17:28

Also Minehead or Weymouth.

I was going to suggest Broadstairs and see a few others have done too, it was a really lovely old seaside town; quite small. We went at Easter a few years ago, dh commented that it was very run down but I thought it was charming! Little arcade, old fashioned cinema, crazy golf, best ice cream parlour, loads of nice independent restaurants for dinners and lunches, beach is pretty, lots of historical references, just a really lovely week away.
We rented a house on the seafront so I can’t recommend a hotel as we didn’t stay in one but there were a few along the front.
It’s quite a steep (but short in distance) hill down to the beach but there was a lift along the top and a boardwalk at the bottom from memory.
