Uk hotel in seafront

I had a nasty injury over Christmas and since then have been pretty much housebound. I'm gradually improving but January and February have been pretty rubbish in our house.

I'd love to go away over Easter for a few days. We've got older primary children. I was thinking a nice hotel on the seafront with a beach, amenities and things for the kids to do. I can't walk far so central and on the front is essential.

I've been saving up so we can splash out on 4/5 stars. We've been to Blackpool and Skegness last year so would like somewhere different.

Any recommendations of locations and/or hotels would be hugely appreciated. I have a vision of a hotel where I could just step out onto the prom near shops, arcades, ice cream and the beach! I hope it exists.

Thanks in advance. (Name changed as outing).

What about somewhere like Scarborough?

The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne is full of old fashioned glamour.

Dalmeny hotel in lytham st Anne’s - amazing for children, on the seafront and a short walk into the centre. My kids and I love it.

Llandudno is quite nice for a little break and lots of hotels on the sea front and pretty flat with a pier etc.

Do you have a county in mind, or within X hrs drive of somewhere? What do you want to spend per night? Easter might be pricy! Do you need an accessible room or one with a lift?

I too was going suggest several places: Eastbourne, Broadstairs, Hastings, Southend, Southwold, Great Yarmouth, but depends on your requirements.

Agree with this. The hotel is quite shabby in parts but if you have young kids it's great. Has a lovely pool too. It fits this perfectly:

Which region? Which region will you be travelling from and how?

beachwithinjury · 21/02/2024 22:48

I'm very flexible with the county. We are centrally located in England.

I can use stairs, it takes a while so a lift would be useful but other than that I'm slow and wobbly but can walk with crutches rather than needing a wheel chair.

There's a new hotel near me - The Seaburn Inn in Sunderland.

Overlooks a gorgeous beach!

Thanks so much for contributions. I've started googling!

Broadstairs in Kent would be a good place for a few days away! A few years ago, we stayed at The Albion on the seafront which has rooms with great sea views. Would definitely recommend but can't remember if there was a lift, sorry. Link here

Weston super mare has some nice hotels on the seafront.
The Lauriston and the colonial are both nice and right where you need to be for the beach etc.

Was going to suggesr the exact same place!

We love The Dalmeny - been going for almost 20 years now. I'd recommend sea-front room with a balcony. It's right on the promenade, opposite the pier, m&s food round the back. The pool is lovely, with a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Spa treatments available too.

Midlands, Morecambe.

I think if you like Skegness and Blackpool then Southend would be a good choice. There's one of the budget hotels right opposite the beach, Adventure Island, crazy golf and high street. Can't remember if it's a premier inn or Travelodge. Southwold is lovely but might not be lively enough for what you are after.

troppibambini6 · 22/02/2024 09:23

We are actually going to the dalmeny soon a big group of us go every year with our kids.
I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have kids though. I go with gritted teeth every year as it's cheap and cheerful and the kids love it. The rooms very old fashioned and the heating is always blasting out. The pool is nice and the location is good.
The grand down the road is much nicer but not as good for the kids.

Exmouth in Devon has hotels and B&B s right on the seafront, including a very new Premier Inn. Not what is usually considered a holiday hotel but consistent standards and service, and good breakfasts! Other places to eat nearby including a Hungry Horse for cheaper meals. Lovely long sandy beach, watersports, boat trips, the Ocean centre just down the strand with bowling, arcades, soft play (and other food options). You can get to Exmouth by train, or if driving it is only a few miles from the end of the M5. If you have a car then there are other places to visit nearby, including the Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth, Exmouth World of Country Life which has vintage vehicles, exciting play equipment, animals, hawk flying shows, all sorts. A really good day out.

No - I do not work for the Tourist Information Office... but I'm willing to consider being employed if the pay is right 😁

Premier Inn at Exmouth is right on the seafront and has a “Hungry Horse” pub next door too. It’s really nice there….can definitely recommend

Hadn’t seen your post DilemmaDelilah … great minds think alike

Sortoutthehouse · 22/02/2024 11:57

Llandudno would be perfect I think and a range of hotels in terms of budget etc on the sea front. Some have lovely lounges / dining rooms with big windows looking out to sea / the Ormes. I also rate Exmouth too!

Carsarelife · 22/02/2024 12:33

Southend fab for kids and can recommend Whitby too

PinkGrapefruitSorbet · 22/02/2024 12:46

Weymouth!

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 22/02/2024 12:47

Torquay? Lots to do with kids like the zoo, a few play farms, arcades, cinema, bowling etc.
