Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just about to drink my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot. It's just me up at the moment, although I think I hear dd2 moving about, so lovely and peaceful.

I'll put the washer on shortly, and wash up the few pots there are. We had a cleaning morning in the week so the house is still alright. Hoover needs a swish round but that's a quick job with the new one, and there are a few little jobs to be done - bring old hoover down, put up utensil hooks & look for a taller spice rack, and work out why dd2's middle drawer doesn't open already. Probably something I did when building the bedside cabinet 🤷‍♀️

We're off to town for a few things today - won't be out long or buying much though. I have peg people I really need to finish for Tuesday & that's looking less and less likely 🙈 it'll be fine if they're a day later than I'd planned though.

Tea will be something easy from the freezer. Followed by a shower and early night for me after a bit of some sort of crafting, or my book. I might look up some bracelet tutorials for some of our friendship bracelets for the Eras tour, or I might brush out some more of my tangled jacket I want to add beaded tassels to 🤔 we'll see.

Dd2 will no doubt get up to watch someone stream Adele from Vegas, and dd1 wanted to finish the last of her homework before going to see The 1975, tomorrow night, so she'll probably do that.

What about all of you? 🙂

@OldTinHat you've just saved me a scroll! The 5 shelf one will be spot on rather than the two mis-matched, and too small, ones I have at the moment! Thanks for the link!

You're very welcome! 🤗

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 17/02/2024 10:27

DS had bathed and is ready for the day but I'm still in my pjs! We've had porridge and fruit for breakfast but need to do the big food shop today so trying to find the motivation to get dressed and out the door. Easier said than done with a toddler in tow.

I bought some plants yesterday so I'd like to get those planted today too

Hoping DH will take DS to get his hair cut once he gets back from work so I can crack on with some housework

Have a lovely day all

APurpleSquirrel · 17/02/2024 10:29

DD has an opticians appointment just before lunch; need to drop some library books back too then we're off to Exeter to see the new Luke Jerram art installation, Mars, in Exeter Cathedral.
Dinner will be salad nicoise.

JMAngel1 · 17/02/2024 10:30

Morning all. Hope those of you feeling ill feel
better soon

just having a quiet cappuccino and toast sitting on the sofa with my book. I’ve been up since around 7am and been quite productive.
Emptied and reloaded dishwasher, stripped beds.
Soaked some cedar wood discs in lemon and eucalyptus oil to go in wardrobes/drawers later when dry.
Arranged two vases with new faux hydrangeas and eucalyptus- all gorgeous greens and creams for spring.
Ordered a rug and chair for DD2’s new bedroom after A LOT of debate 😂

Now planning a bathroom pamper -
need to depilate, dye eyebrows and micro needle.
Then off to town for a food shop/Matalan/Dunelm/Costa visit then visit my Dad.
Back home to pizza and red wine and a film and snuggle.

frozendaisy · 17/02/2024 10:40

Good morning

Going to make a big brunch with all the trimmings once the sporting duo return.

........ that's as far as I have got today. Start of half term for us and we have things to achieve each day next week but nothing "big" planned as such.

Might get the kids to watch The Social Dilemma I am in a watch TV mood, but together, type of day. I can only presume great resistance. I might bribe them with a cake or something.

decionsdecisions62 · 17/02/2024 10:42

Been for a run. Now dyeing my hair. Shaving my legs. Sorting house this pm then off to a friends 50th party tonight. Bought a new dress yesterday from Oliver Bonas so looking forward to wearing that.

EighteenBaldingStars · 17/02/2024 10:43

Morning!

I'm making bread this morning and have also just started a sourdough starter. Can't use it yet, but I've done the first step!

I'm not dressed properly yet - just stuck on joggers and a hoodie over the tshirt I slept in.

I've just got two new nightdresses which arrived today, so that will change the tshirt situation! Badly needed 😬. I have a nice enough wardrobe but my nightwear is 👎

Thislittlekitten · 17/02/2024 10:48

Morning all. Having a quiet breakfast alone downstairs. Everyone else asleep except DCat who is having a crazy 1/2 hour. She’s running about the house at full speed!

DH is taking the DC out with his family for a few hours later. I should use the time wisely to clean the kitchen but we were out last night for the first time in months and I suspect a cheeky nap might happen 🙈

I do have some parcels to pick up. Easy tea of chicken wraps tonight. Long shift at work tomorrow so I will have a quiet night tonight.

RabbitsRock · 17/02/2024 11:01

APurpleSquirrel I’d be interested in hearing about the Mars installation. I live about an hour & a half from Exeter.

Tiddlywinks63 · 17/02/2024 11:08

Good morning, it’s a drizzly morning here. So far I have cleaned the bathroom and toilet, dusted the bedroom and made the bed, tidied the kitchen and put two loads of laundry on. DH is supposed to be walking the dog who’s getting fed up with him saying ‘in a minute’ (so am I 😡). If he doesn’t go in the next 5 minutes then I will take her.
i need to put everything back in the landing cupboard that he painted yesterday and vacuum through the whole house. I will empty the wood burner and set it ready to light, fill the log basket then that’s done.
Homemade spicy squash soup with crusty baguette for lunch. There’s homemade sausage rolls too.
I want to tidy out a couple of kitchen cupboards later.
A quiet afternoon and evening I hope.

Crushed23 · 17/02/2024 11:23

I have a wonderful day lined up!

Just finished a barre class.

Got brunch with a friend shortly (at a gorgeous-looking Italian spot that I pass every week on my way to barre and I’m finally getting to try)

Got a fancy dinner later at one of my favourite restaurants with a friend who is visiting from HK.

I don’t normally eat out twice in one day so tomorrow is going to have to be a very healthy/clean one! 🙂

veiledsentiments · 17/02/2024 11:54

Done washing, cleaned fire, kitchen and bathroom, collected wood. Washed the cushion covers due to aforementioned fire. Have showered and now sat on my sofa wondering what to do with the rest of the day. OH is not showered, not long out of bed and has done bugger all.

Sleepysleepasap · 17/02/2024 12:23

Reading this thread, highlights how unproductive I have been so far today 😂

daffodilandtulip · 17/02/2024 12:40

Missed the actual morning part of this thread again! We had a lovely cooked breakfast/brunch after a big lie in, then I've wrapped DCs presents ... 15 and 18 year olds incoming 🙈
I'm going to take the dog for a walk and post some Vinted on the way, then have the first creme egg of the season when I get back. I'll potter in the garden planting some winter flowers and a couple of new shrubs to fill some gaps, then finish my book.
The next few weekends are uni visits again so I'm relishing in having a quiet potter about.

nopuppiesallowed · 17/02/2024 12:51

@Giggorata Ooh! Which on line writing course are you doing? Years ago I did one on writing for childre and absolutely loved it. I gave up writing after 2 agents asked for small rewrites and then rejected....was SO gutted that I gave up. Perhaps I need a rocket under me - and a new course!

FloofyBird · 17/02/2024 13:19

Eldest two are upstairs lounging. Youngest is out in town with friends. Dh is doing the diy project I was going to do 😂. Funny how keen they are when you start yourself!

Chelsea26 · 17/02/2024 13:26

Afternoon all

I had a coffee in bed then got up and took DS1 to footy training. He’s now at the Brentford game with his dad and friends.

DS2 isn’t well; we went to The Gunpowder Plot Experience yesterday and were meant to eat out afterwards but he was struggling so we came home and got a takeaway instead. Poor thing has been coughing all night so he is having a PJ day hoping to be better for back to school on Monday.

DP is doing the last few bits before we put the Camper Van on the market 😢and I’m wishing he would hurry up as I’m waiting for him for lunch and I haven’t eaten breakfast! I could have cracked on but I couldn’t trust myself to not eat all the delicious wrap and leave him with just the boring soup!

Not much planned for the rest of the day, boys are off to their dads this evening so just us for dinner - I think I fancy pie and mash

Sparklybutold · 17/02/2024 13:36

I woke and got out of bed about 30 minutes ago. I forgot to take some medication last night which I take owing to chronic pain and insomnia and it felt like I was hit by a truck when I woke this morning. DH offered a coffee but saw I needed to just go back to sleep. Still feeling a little wobbly tbh with a headache. Pottering this afternoon whilst caring for the kids. Then I'm off to a make up event later thisavo. Likely pick up a kfc on my way home.

APurpleSquirrel I’d be interested in hearing about the Mars installation. I live about an hour & a half from Exeter.

Info here:

www.exeter-cathedral.org.uk/whats-on/events/mars-war-peace-by-luke-jerram/

We've been & seen the Moon & Gaia (Earth) previously - really impressive.

JustJessi · 17/02/2024 13:51

I was planning to do absolutely nothing but so far I have:
cleaned the windows in and out
vacuumed
walked dog, alone - bliss
laundry
mopped - twice (muddy paws!)
big online grocery shop
taken recycling out
done all childcare, bottles, nappies, meals, naps, playing.
DH has been working on a spreadsheet for work all day.

I’ve treated myself to a big chocolate cookie

DrinksbytheSea · 17/02/2024 14:57

Afternoon! We had quite a slow morning. Popped out to buy paint but they didn’t have what we need so that was a wasted trip. We live rurally so going anywhere takes a good hour or two out of the day.

DH is shattered and DS has a bad cold so they’re both chilling on the sofa and gaming. I’m finally better after two weeks suffering with Covid which I’m very happy about! I’m just pottering around the house and doing a few deep cleaning jobs. Our knackered rented house gets dusty and mouldy so easily so I’m working my way through it all with hot water and marigolds. Later we’ll have a few beers and probably order a Chinese. We might watch a film as well. Tomorrow will be very chilled at home too but the weather is appalling so I guess it’s not so bad.

Eggsley · 17/02/2024 16:01

Afternoon all! Lazy-ish morning here, sorted dog out, tidied kitchen and sorted dishwasher and recycling, then went over to my parents to pick up DC who stayed over at theirs last night, as DH and I went to the theatre. First night without them for about 10 years!

Stayed and had a coffee at my parents, then popped into the supermarket to get something for lunch and dinner. DS1 and DS2 are both gaming (separately), DH is watching the football. I'm having a coffee, playing with the dog and half watching the football. Have put a wash on so need to put that in the dryer when it's done. It's a chilled one here as we're all getting over colds. Spag bol for tea, Gladiators and a glass of wine.

Hope everyone is having a lovely Saturday!

Giggorata · 18/02/2024 10:13

@Snippysocks, it was a day session from the WEA, about finding your style.
( I missed the chance to get on a longer course, as it was already full.)
