If you are diagnosed with ASD, what was your AQ50 score?

Mine is between 26 and 29 (I've taken it a few times). I'm trying to work out the significance of that. The cut-off seems to be given as 26 in some places and 32 in others. Similarly I've seen the population average given as 16 in some places and 22 in others.

I did post this in the ND Mumsnetter section but am also posting here for traffic.

I thought I could read faces but the eyes one has me stumped - I have no idea what they are conveying, the majority look like my username and my neurodivergent daughter beat me hands down on it!
I think I can just about manage...Balenciaga versus H+M WinkGrin

Opening few seconds

I scored 29 on the eye test and I’m autistic. The average NT person only scores 26. So I don’t think it’s a reliable test of neurodiversity.

I agree.

If you're guessing, you've got a 25% chance if guessing the correct answer on each one.

However, I scored 17 and thought I'd done pretty well as I was going through it. There were only 3 or 4 where I had to 'guess'. I felt confident about the others 😅

Mine was 43

I can't do the 'eye test' at all! They all just look like eyes to me Grin I felt quite panicked doing it as I couldn't pick up on any cues at all

You can see it's a basic quiz though
I tend to stay neutral so only slightly agreeing/disagreeing to many of them - which will only score 0/1
It is a bit of a blunt instrument which signals autistic traits as introverted/obsessive/socially awkward

I just redid it putting in the answers I think they want and got 48

DD just got 41. She doesn't want me to pursue a diagnosis for her but has been masking for sometime (her brother is awaiting his ADOS).

This isn't correct - the same score is allocated whether you say slightly agree, or extremely agree.

I did it probably close to 50 times over the years, often trying to respond 'positively'. Only once got under 40 (and that was 39). I also went into the details of how it worked and how well it correlated with an autism diagnosis. That was probably more the sign than the high score!

32 today. I’ve been higher and lower depending on the day and my mood. Diagnosed two years ago.

Has anyone tried this one?

Weirdly, I just aced this one - 33/36!

All of that forensically-studying-people-from-the-sidelines has paid off I guess…

I got 30 on the eyes one and I'm autistic. I generally make a bit too much eye contact, I presume either from learning this is the rule to polite conversation, or perhaps because I am scanning hard to understand emotion and meaning. Some people like it and some feel a bit uncomfortable with it. I wonder if it's made me more skilled at reading emotions?
