Fortunately they had plenty left but they did leave it a bit late. More than I got though!

What are they supposed to do? If you buy them before today, you can’t hide them. It’s a bit weird to give Valentines flowers before Valentines Day… Get up extra early on a work day to buy them first thing? Buy them at lunchtime so they sit in the office wilting all afternoon?

If they were buying a naff card in the supermarket at 6pm, that I might judge 😂

Doltontweedle · 14/02/2024 20:04

How is it late? It’s not late. It’s Valentine’s Day today and they’re buying them for today, tomorrow would be late. I read a post on a ‘petty rage’ group on fb yesterday from a bloke who got a bollocking as his wife caught him sneaking in with a card and gift, and had a go ‘so you forgot this year again did you’? He said no, I remembered and went to the shop today so I could give you them tomorrow? She wasn’t having that though. She’d bought hers last week apparently. So him getting his ready the day before was ‘forgetting’ 🙄

usually you would think they would get them the day before, afterall the flowers are there at least 5 days before

And keep them where..

BeyondMyWits · 14/02/2024 20:05

My dh was probably one of them.... he felt guilty cos I got him a card and he forgot valentines day...

but... he walked the dog in the rain (it is one of the days I normally walk him) and gave me a lift to work... because he knows I hate to get wet before work. Who needs flowers.

realistically say what they are for inadvance ?

Eh?

timetorefresh · 14/02/2024 20:06

If they get them on the day they'll last longer. Although I'd prefer a living plant :)

StarlightLime · 14/02/2024 20:05

Eh?

say they are for v day but you got them early,

ApisGuard · 14/02/2024 20:09

once the clock goes 00:00 for the 14th then its already v day so strictly speaking if eg brought at 18;00 the day before then its only 6 hrs early

MoonlitButterfly · 14/02/2024 20:13

I went for a walk in the rain with the dog and picked a bunch of daffodils for myself (disclaimer: they were growing in the hedges in my fields!)

say they are for v day but you got them early,

Why, though? Seriously, why is that better than actually giving them on the day? I'm baffled 🤯

They went after work so that they'd be fresh?

No point buying them three days before!

BeingmummyIsTheBestxo · 14/02/2024 21:09

I got a Starbucks and a Valentine's cookie 🫣🤣I'd have loved some flowers!

NillyNoMates · 14/02/2024 21:11

I got sweet f a

LilBus · 14/02/2024 21:12

Well better than getting nothing like me 😅

PeopleAreWeird · 14/02/2024 21:12

If they have been at work all day, they popped to get some flowers after, Why is that to late?

And what do you do with them in the meantime
makes sense to buy them on the day

Hedjwitch · 14/02/2024 21:14

More than I got

DrumRolling · 14/02/2024 21:16

I bought dp flowers from Tesco tonight, I had just finished work and wanted to take them home, I hadn’t forgot. She was very happy with them!

Cheshiresun · 14/02/2024 21:16

Did my usual shop yesterday in Tesco. It was about 3 times busier than usual! Very annoying! Full of men buying chocolates and flowers!

C1N1C · 14/02/2024 21:19

God, I hope they don't end up leaving the price tag on! Why are these men not buying from a FLORIST?!

I hear that doesn't go down well with some individuals on MN... 🤣

LlynTegid · 14/02/2024 21:21

Agree about buying from a florist, often you'll be supporting a small business.

DyslexicPoster · 14/02/2024 21:22

Ah I think it's nice. I got flowers from dh, I don't always get them every year.

I refer yoy to a recent thread by Roses114 :)

Lougle · 14/02/2024 21:23

DH said 'I really hope you're the same as me because I'm really sorry but I've completely forgotten about Valentine's Day.'

It's just a day. Real love is shown throughout the year.
