Little moons

Bought something called little moons today and just tried it. I didn't read it properly and thought it was little ice cream things in chocolate. I got the coconut ones.

Well it turns out I've tried something called mochi for the first time. Totally freaked me out biting into it. Strange texture. Can't quite decide if I like them.

Anyone else tried these?

Yes. I love them.

Yes. I love them.

I'm still undecided after the second one. How many does it take to like them 😂

A while back I found little balls of ice cream covered in different Magnum chocolate: plain, hazelnut and white chocolate I think. They were done like a box of chocolates. Haven't seen them again. That's sort of what I was expecting

Mil is Japanese so I’ve had a lot of Mochi (and I’m not a fan!) it’s the texture for me too.

Oh god, I love mochi - both the original Japanese ones and these Little Moon ice cream ones. The mango ones are great. I think the texture is an acquired taste and not for everyone. A word of warning for nut allergy sufferers - in some of the Little Moons for some weird reason they use cashew paste as well. I didn’t check the ingredients (as why would mochi have cashew?) and found out the hard way 🤢.

LimeViewer · 13/02/2024 18:34

They are horrible, it's the texture.

Shnowdrops · 13/02/2024 18:39

I think after number 3 I've decided I won't be buying them again. The texture is like nothing else I've eaten.

If it was a bit more marzipanny I'd love it! But it's sort of squidgy and stretchy. Ice cream is lovely but the mochi just squidges about in my mouth for ages 😬

I love the mango ones. You just have to get used to the texture!

OhVienna24 · 13/02/2024 18:40

I love them but the texture is weird.

Shnowdrops · 13/02/2024 18:40

Nothing else sweet in the house and I'm seriously considering peeling them for the ice cream 😂

They are called Magic Plums in this house. I adore them and have bought the ingredients to have a go at making my own.

OldTinHat · 13/02/2024 18:41

I really want to try them but the price has put me off! My DIL says they're horrible.

Octavia64 · 13/02/2024 18:42

I really really like them.

They are not like just ice cream though

Thesonofaphesantplucker · 13/02/2024 18:43

Oh I absolutely love them! The texture is amazing (to me!). Sadly, my children have also decided they love them too, so I’ve mostly stopped buying them as they are expensive to be eaten in one sitting!

Bloody love them!! The iced latte and the yuzu are my current faves.

The magnum little chocolate ice cream balls are in Tesco all of the time - they're delicious too but far too easy to eat 😂

DanceWithYou · 13/02/2024 18:46

The passion fruit and mango ones are delicious.

Only just got my head around mochi. What's yuzu?

I love them now but it took me a while. The price is pretty steep but aldi do a decent version too. Nobody else in the house likes them which is why I'm so determined to have something that nobody else will steal

Midnlghtrain · 13/02/2024 18:53

@Shnowdrops

Yuzu is a flavour! It's like a sour citrus flavour (like a mix between lemon and grapefruit to me). It's delicious!

There's so many little moons flavours, im addicted 😂 the pistachio is really good too, or the refresha ones (sorbet in the middle)

It’s a citrus fruit, kind of like lemon but a bit sweeter and less sharp

Love Little Moons. There was a stall at the Savoy Theatre selling them and we tried salted caramel, raspberry and chocolate, all really good.

bigbadbarry · 13/02/2024 18:55

i love them and nobody else in my house likes them so they are the perfect treat to keep in 😂

thorneyislanddoris · 13/02/2024 18:55

Can't stand them. They're gross.

And I'm not a fussy eater.

I love anything lemon. Would love to try this as ice cream without the mochi!

I got them from a wee Tesco. They only had coconut or I think mango was the other flavour.

Gutted as I love coconut in anything else!

Oh I love mochi! Aldi's ones are ok, and a bit cheaper. You might prefer the chocolate brownie covered ice cream balls that are in Aldi though!
