Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone doing today?

I've just made my first cuppa & am going to drink it in my kitchen spot. No-one else is up yet so it's nice and quiet.

I have a very slight hangover this morning after going out out with some colleagues. Think I might drink this brew, have some breakfast, and go back for a nap 💤

We have nothing much planned for the day - I think we're all in need of a quiet, chilled day. The most we'll do is maybe wander to Lidl for some fruit and some squash.

I need to pay a couple of bills online & order a new hoover. Might try out my new paint brushes too.

Tea will be something easy, followed by an early one for me! Dd2 will probably go to bed at the same time then get up to watch someone's stream of Adele from Vegas.

What about all of you? 🙂

Afternoon all, we're having a very lazy day here.

DH has been ill all week, which has involved 2 hospital trips. He picked up an awful cough/cold at the first hospital trip, which he's very kindly passed on to me. He is finally on the mend though, thank goodness.

I have spent all week trying to keep on top of everything and then DH's cold finally got me on Thursday afternoon. I spent yesterday in bed feeling dreadful, and most of this morning as well. Have been out to get lunch and dinner from the supermarket today, which has pretty much wiped me out. Back home and intending to go back to bed soon, I really need to be better for work on Monday!

Will probably watch Gladiators later before an early night.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Just lost my post so here goes again! Happy New Year of the Dragon everyone! 🐉🐲 We had an extremely stressful Fri night so got to sleep in the early hours. DH had to go to work for 8am but I had a lie in until about 9.45. DD15 has her girlfriend here until mid afternoon. The washing machine is on with the final load ( for now!) & at last the bottom of the linen basket is visible! Also got the tumble dryer going as we have very heavy showers here. I’ve been doing very little for over a week as I’m in quite a bit of pain from keyhole surgery. Have unloaded & loaded the dishwasher & will bleach the surfaces in a mo. Need to finish next week’s meal plan & look up an easy sausage casserole recipe for the slow cooker. We’ll probably have steaks for Valentines Day. Tonight I’m having Slimming World teriyaki salmon (not on a diet but it comes highly recommended) with jasmine rice & broccoli. DH has an Indian ready meal & DD will sort herself out. She never eats with us. Will watch Gladiators & maybe Greys Anatomy. Still got a few series of that to go. ilovebagpuss you’ve reminded me that my boot is also full of charity shop donations! Been there a lot longer than 3 months I’m ashamed to say! I can’t drive for a few weeks but will pop to the Air Ambulance shop as soon as I’m back behind the wheel.

Had a morning off sport this week as 2 dc ill and the 3rd’s was cancelled.

Have booked dds birthday outing for next week and ordered two presents.

Going to pick up a new (to us) car later. I’m not very happy about it as I’m a very nervous driver and it’s huge!

hothotheatbag · 10/02/2024 13:13

I'm still sat in bed on my 3rd coffee.

My DH has collected the online shop and if now outside doing "outside things" my eldest 20 year old stayed out last night so think he's heading back soon. My youngest 16 has come down raided the food shop and gone back to his room.

I'm just about to get up, shower run the hoover round and dress for a long dog walk and pub visiting afternoon. (So weekend wear, leggings, fluffy jumper, benie and my wellies)

I'm still recovering from what I suspect may have been covid so looking very washed out, so debating a light dusting of tan after my shower to look a bit more human.

Oh! Maybe I'll have a poke up its tube then!

In ours it's down, it's just above where you suck up, the first bit of the tube if that makes sense worth a poke around

Afternoon all. Had a very lazy morning drinking coffee and watching The Goldbergs. Going to have some lunch and then ironing this afternoon with an old b&w movie on. Also gutting and I mean gutting under the sink!

Doctorbear · 10/02/2024 13:22

DH bought me a coffee up at half seven and I had a lovely lazy half hour in bed before starting the day. Been to watch DS2 play in his hockey match. DD2 has two friends for a sleepover tonight who will be arriving soon. Been trying to get the house in some kind of order as it was pretty disgusting. I work Ft and it's hard going to keep on top of it so I try and blast it at the weekends. Just having a quiet cup of tea before I get back to it. Am about to make some pizza dough for tonight and we'll probably watch a film and play some games with the girls.

Changed name as outing but I knitted DCI Vera Stanhope the other day and now everyone loves it and wants one or the pattern, which I made up as I went along.

So Im knitting a few more as well as trying to write down the pattern so other people understand my weird ways of doing things

Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone doing today?

Happy Chinese New Year!

I am doing a really nice dinner tonight however I’m not doing the massive one that takes me three days to make as DS is working, it’s a new job and he didn’t want to ask for the day off. So I will be doing that next week and having friends round as well. Will start prepping for that on Wednesday.

Will FaceTime family back in Hong Kong later.

Gong hei fat choy!
We had our big meal last night 🤤 hope yours is lovely when you have it

lucysmam · 10/02/2024 16:29

Ooh @KnittedVera she is fabulous!

I've given up on doing anything today - had a nap, a loooooong shower, and another nap. Going to order a giant pizza and chips for tea. Hopefully normal service resumed tomorrow - definitely over-did it going out last night after work all day <sigh>.

Im very late to this today!

The teens have gone to stay with grandparents for the weekend so just the little ones here. We've been to a national trust place, beautiful sunshine here! Just about to get McDonald's for the DC, then gladiators, then bath and bed for DC and DH and I have a cheeseboard for this evening can't wait!

Eggsley · 10/02/2024 19:33

@KnittedVera she is lovely!! You are very talented to make her, I'm not surprised she is in demand!
