I have lots of people tell me she is strawberry blonde , when she was born she was a bit more red

Is this just blonde or strawberry blonde? She has blue eyes, and strawberry blonde/ red head does run in the family both side, although I don't have it

I feel some days it looks more strawberry blonde , and other days it just looks plain blonde

Strawberry blonde

EasternStandard · 07/02/2024 14:25

Looks quite different in the pigtails one

So strawberry blonde but looks blonde in one pic

LaMarschallin · 07/02/2024 14:31

Is "strawberry blonde" the new "ginger"?
Because "ginger" is the colour I'd suggest.
Whichever, it's very pretty.

@NoOrdinaryMorning
This was mine as a child (excuse the eighties fringe 😁)

It's redder than that picture fully shows especially in the sun

Wow your current hair colour is beautiful!

Mine is naturally very light blonde and I absolutely hate it. It means I look dreadful without make up as my eyelashes & eyebrows are really light. I've always been envious of Auburn hair and those with jet black hair always seem to not need any make up as lashes are already dark!

Strawberry blonde. I was one too. Throughout my life people would comment on my beautiful hair colour (nothing like modesty)! The great thing is that we don't tend to go grey either. I am in my sixties now and my hair has gone almost platinum blonde but still with shades of copper when the sun catches it.

I didn’t know this! I am strawberry blonde. To be fair it went a bit darker round my teenage years (more warmth) so I highlight it. Zero grey hairs at approaching 50 when most friends do. I thought it was genetic as my Mum has no grey hair at 72!

Good to know.

Anyway OP yes it’s looks strawberry blonde and I guess could get darker or go more the blonde route as she gets older.

Naillig222 · 07/02/2024 16:24

I'd say strawberry blonde too. There's definitely a red tinge moreso than fully blonde. It's beautiful.

LilBus · 07/02/2024 16:27

Strawberry blonde is just a fancy way of saying ginger. Looks ginger to me

ToffeeShocker · 07/02/2024 16:43

Strawberry blonde is not the same as ginger.

No it’s not. It’s a blonde hair with red undertones rather than pure ginger or auburn. In the same way as mousy brown is distinct from brunette.

LilBus · 07/02/2024 18:53

According to google it’s ginger but ok. Either way looks ginger

No new about it. One of my best friends was strawberry blonde in the 90s, still is, and my then bf was strawberry blonde in the late 90s early naughties. His brother was dark ginger and I always hoped our kids would get those genes instead 🤣. DH isn't tho so I have no lovely ginger babies unfortunately

donteatthedaisies0 · 07/02/2024 19:05

Usually lashes are a good indicator for real hair colour .

Isthisblocked · 07/02/2024 19:26

She has beautiful hair… it’s strawberry blonde ……my DM said my D’s hair (which was the same shade when he was small) was “ the colour of a new penny.

Rose1988xxxx · 07/02/2024 19:41

@donteatthedaisies0 she has amazing thick long strawberry blonde lashes! I would say they look more strawberry/ ginger than her hair to be honest

Thank you everyone for your kind and helpful comments 😊

Were the pictures taken close together? Time of year/sunlight can really change some children's hair. Your dd's is lovely.

Rose1988xxxx · 07/02/2024 19:54

@RiaOverTheRainbow yes only a few weeks to be honest , I'm wondering what this summer will do to her hair ! Summer 2023 her hair had only just started to grow property so the sun didn't do much to be honest, and with her being so pale I tend to try keep a hat on her as much as possible in the sun 🤣

Do remember hair changes so much as children grow and you won’t know final colour and texture till puberty kicks in.

just in my family…

  • child A born lots of white/pale blonde straight hair. Mostly fell out and then grew back wavy blonde and incredibly thin until he was 7-8 years older, positive bald patches! Then thickened and gradually curled. Aged 15 was dark brown very tight curls and still is. No baldness at all aged 30 plus. Hair just like his Dads and gramps who both had full head of hair , with little grey, and tight curls into 80s!
  • child b. - masses of dark hair. Thick. Stayed thick and dark. At puberty started to lighten to a rather uninspiring mousy blonde. Then in early twenties started to get auburn highlights that still has- and a very ginger beard- throwback we think to a red headed great grandmother!
  • child c- blonde straight till 10/11. Went darker. Very enviable full, slightly wavy , dark brown chestnut locks.

And so on.

stop labelling. It’s a lovely colour. Enjoy it as it may well change - though it’s such a lovely colour let’s hope it stays !

AngryBird6122 · 07/02/2024 21:07

Whatever it is, it's gorgeous!

Greensleevevssnotnose · 07/02/2024 21:09

Definitely a red head, I would say ginger

Rose1988xxxx · 07/02/2024 22:05

@Appleofmyeye2023 totally agree, I would love it to stay like this! But will obviously have to wait and see!

My son was born with very dark hair, then went very blonde, And now has very dark blonde hair , which does very light in the summer ! He has a very dark skin tone so is completely different to my daughter!

Crispynoodle · 07/02/2024 23:34
