Which pram have you got and would you get it again?

FTM, totally overwhelmed by all the choice there is on the market for prams.

We live in a town sandwiched between a couple of big cities. Frequently pop places, to the shops etc or to the garden centre. Also have the option of driving to find some nice long walks.

We are going to buy a compact stroller (we know which one) but need a comfortable travel system with decent suspension to see us through the first 6 months- one year.

I don’t want to pay crazy amounts of money, definitely something under £1000. We aren’t bothered about a travel system and will invest in a very safe infant car seat.

It’s more just a pram with carrycot plus parent and world facing seat that we are after.

What did/do you have and would you buy it again or not?

Bugaboo fox 5 - would definitely buy again. We started with a silvercross reef and that was dreadful. The bugaboo is a smidge over your £1000 budget but you can pick up a fox 3 model for about £5-600 and they’re practically the same.

We’ve also had a mountain buggy and out n about nipper. Like both but parent facing is really important and I wouldn’t want that missing from our main pram.

I had an iCandy Peach for DS and loved it, it was a bit chunky for my little car but it was incredible to push and steer. As soon as DS grew out of it my sister sold her Silvercross and used it instead because it was so much nicer to handle

Oyster 3 - we’ve used it for both of our boys and it still looks great, would absolutely buy again.

It folds down fairly compact, is comparatively lightweight, is narrow in width so you’re more likely to get past cars parked on pavements and has a small turning circle for ease of movement.

An important one for us too was that the pram attachment lies flat, so our bigger babies could be moved up from the carrycot when they outgrew it before 6 months of age.

Not sure on the price of them now, but we managed to find some bargains back when we bought ours a few years ago, so hopefully that’s still the case.

ETA we live in semi-rural Yorkshire and have found it has handled well on various terrains.

@AutumnCandle only when I'm trying to get out my front door as the lip is high and the doormat gets in the way. Mostly it manages to get over pavements without me having to tip it back, dropped curbs fine, don't need to lift, pedestrian crossing don't need to tilt slightly. For the money I think I've had a bargain, if money wasn't an issue I'd go for the newer ones.

We have two.

Mountain buggy - the large wheels excellent for easy use off road, snow, bumpy wood walks etc. We use the carrycot plus with it so carrycot that converts to parent facing seat. Ds napped in in most days inside and outside when small.

Babyzen yo-yo - bought around 1 year for travel. It’s also great. Ds ha napped well in it travelling or when we locally needed compact version

I wouldn’t have wanted one pram for everything as too much of a
compromise. Ds is 3.5 now, tall and still fits height and weight wise in both if needed. When we do long woodland walks I still take the mountain buggy if alone as easier than carrying him back if tired (5-10 mile walks). The babyzen is perfect for city use, on planes, taxis, trains, when car full. We will use again still this summer travelling as he will fit still

I can still get a Cam on the bugaboo website for £400… idk if this is a good price?

It is! I paid £700 for mine 6 years ago!

Mamas and Papas Ocarro - was kindly bought by my in laws or I'd have sold it on and changed it for baby number two. It's so heavy and bulky and the folding mechanism is now really dodgy so I don't think you get the quality for the price. It is very sturdy over bumpy terrain but I really wish I'd gone for something smaller/lighter and more stroller-y.

I've had a really old bugaboo cameleon, loved it overall it was just a bit bulky to fold down.

I've just bought an ocarro (on sale just before Christmas) and so far I'm loving it. It folds down really small for a two part buggy, and the untertrat is huge! Plus plenty of room for a buggy board and room for my older one to stand and hold on

We bought the mamas and papas Ocarro travel system and i honestly don’t think it was worth it. It is so so heavy! We’ve obviously kept it and it does have its uses e.g large storage under pram which is good for days out. But it’s impractical for nipping the shops etc due to the weight. I absolutely LOVE my out n about nipper. I ended up with the sport as I bought it off a friend which has a fixed front wheel for running but I would swap it for a swivel front wheel which just makes it a little more compact for going into shops and cafes etc! It’s great for walking, so light and easy to push. Again it is heavy and bulky to go in your car! I’ve also just bought a little Chicco goody plus stroller as i wanted a lightweight buggy for the shop. It is REALLY light and easy to put up and down and fits nicely in my car with loads of room to spare .. but …. The storage is rubbish and although it has a good weight limit the back of the seat isn’t very tall so can imagine it won’t last long. It was on offer from £220 to £109 though so had to buy it 😂 so yeah that’s me the lady with 3 prams!!

Advice though I’d say is you can’t really go off recommendations you need to go try them. The occaro is 13.5kg with the infant seat folded down.

@Cookiedough123 I'll raise you the lady with 3 prams as the lady with 6 haha!

Silvercross coast (first pram for newborn dc1, too bulky when folded)
Mamas and papas flip xt2 (marketplace buy when I got fed up of the silvercross bulk, nice pram, doesn't steer as nice as the others I don't think but v. Old)
Cheapo double buggy (£30 marketplace buy for dc1 and niece)
Bizzigrowin buggilite (compact stroller once dc1 was about 2, really like this one but not parent facing)
Mountain buggy plus one (eBay £40 buggy, bought for dc2 birth since dc1 still needs a push sometimes, expecting it to come in to its own once the nursery commute becomes a walk, it will also be handy for big walks)
Doona car seat stroller (weird housing situation atm meant this has been a lifesaver).

I'm now eyeing up for a new compact stroller but parent facing as I want to use this as soon as dc2 is ok sitting up. I really like the bugaboo ant but it isn't made anymore and the eBay prices seem a bit steep.

Can anyone reccomend a super compact parent facing stroller?

Or maybe a therapist to get to the bottom of my pram issues 😂
