Which pram have you got and would you get it again?

FTM, totally overwhelmed by all the choice there is on the market for prams.

We live in a town sandwiched between a couple of big cities. Frequently pop places, to the shops etc or to the garden centre. Also have the option of driving to find some nice long walks.

We are going to buy a compact stroller (we know which one) but need a comfortable travel system with decent suspension to see us through the first 6 months- one year.

I don’t want to pay crazy amounts of money, definitely something under £1000. We aren’t bothered about a travel system and will invest in a very safe infant car seat.

It’s more just a pram with carrycot plus parent and world facing seat that we are after.

What did/do you have and would you buy it again or not?

Bugaboo cham for first baby, loved it. Got another 2nd hand for £200 for this baby and love it just as much. Super cosy with a real sheepskin liner added. Just lovely prams.

Do you find the small wheels a problem like others have said?

I had a Cosatto Giggle and they aren't great on buses as it frequently fell over. 🫣

Another vote for the mamas and papas Ocarro. Great pram, especially for rougher terrain as it has suspension and all terrain wheels. Lasted us very well through two children. Only downside is it's rather heavy! But it makes it feel very sturdy and it rolls so smoothly and easily.

BarbaricPeach · 02/02/2024 21:55

We have a Bugaboo Lynx and I love it. Would 100% get it again. My son always found it comfortable and could sleep in it easily. We only stopped using it because he walks most of the time now (2.5 years old) and I wanted something lightweight as backup.

Our daily pram now is a Joolz Aer and I also love that. Would always recommend it, both for travel and for daily use when the child is mostly walking. I can either fold and carry it with one hand or push it with one hand while holding toddler's hand as he walks.

ExcitingRicotta · 02/02/2024 21:58

Yoyo for wheels, carrier for off road walks.

Also had a icandy - so clunky and chunky - never again.

Noname112 · 02/02/2024 22:02

Mountain buggy. We have the urban jungle and used daily for dog walks and more rural places bigger days out etc but also fine for going about shops. Have the duet now we have a second as well. We also have a a mountain buggy nano which is great for travel and quick trips to shops which lived in the car and used frequently from about 7 months.

KCSIE · 02/02/2024 22:04

Mamas and Papas Strada and I'd absolutely get it again, currently using it for baby 2! It's smaller than the Ocarro and felt sturdier than the Babyzen yoyo. It’s more just a pram with carrycot plus parent and world facing seat that we are after. Tick tick and tick.

@AutumnCandle Have you been to a shop to push any around yet and fold them up? Having a hands on play about with a selection was the best way to choose for us.

Lavender2021 · 02/02/2024 22:11

I started with a mountain buggy Swift but daughter got too long and we use it for the 3 mile nursery walk so went bigger to the mountain buggy terrain-I hate small wheels.
The mountain buggy terrain is great for walking and days out as plenty of space-- I do use it around shops but it's massive and daughter is almost 4 so walks when just popping into shops so I'm not getting it out for short trips.
I picked up a bugaboo bee 3 free as its super old for travelling and it's not great unless smooth ground.
The mountain buggy also has a good weight limit for the child. I got it second hand on Facebook.

We bought the mamas and papas Ocarro travel system and i honestly don’t think it was worth it. It is so so heavy! We’ve obviously kept it and it does have its uses e.g large storage under pram which is good for days out. But it’s impractical for nipping the shops etc due to the weight. I absolutely LOVE my out n about nipper. I ended up with the sport as I bought it off a friend which has a fixed front wheel for running but I would swap it for a swivel front wheel which just makes it a little more compact for going into shops and cafes etc! It’s great for walking, so light and easy to push. Again it is heavy and bulky to go in your car! I’ve also just bought a little Chicco goody plus stroller as i wanted a lightweight buggy for the shop. It is REALLY light and easy to put up and down and fits nicely in my car with loads of room to spare .. but …. The storage is rubbish and although it has a good weight limit the back of the seat isn’t very tall so can imagine it won’t last long. It was on offer from £220 to £109 though so had to buy it 😂 so yeah that’s me the lady with 3 prams!!

Advice though I’d say is you can’t really go off recommendations you need to go try them. The occaro is 13.5kg with the infant seat folded down.

SavingEveryLastPenny · 02/02/2024 22:14

Silver cross pioneer used for 2dcs. Loved it. Handy, sturdy. Fit in boot ok.

blahblahx · 02/02/2024 22:19

Silvercross Wayfarer. I wouldn't recommend it

Got2getout · 02/02/2024 22:22

We had a Cosatto Wow and loved it.

I liked that baby wasn’t too low down, and the handlebar adjusted quickly to suit short me and tall dad. Cosatto also have a great selection of colours and designs.

The carrycot lasted just over 6 months, and the seat until up to about 3 years.

It feels nice and sturdy but was very lightweight and easy to carry / manoeuvre.

Best option is to go to a shop and look at / feel / push a few different options and see what you like.

Heybearu · 02/02/2024 22:22

The Uppababy vista is amazing (I'm on my third baby so have tried afew!!) Great comfort for baby, nice to push, large basket. Just needs a biggish boot. Second hand ones in good condition come up all the time.

For moving on when baby is bigger the baby jogger city mini is amazing.

Heartbreaktuna · 02/02/2024 22:33

Cybex priam travel system. Would not buy again. Large, heavy and build quality not good enough for the price

ColleenDonaghy · 02/02/2024 22:40

Adore our Vista, still going strong after 5.5 years. Definitely our best baby buy. We did get a smaller lightweight buggy but hardly ever use it, the Vista is better.

Costco were selling the bugaboo chameleon for about £300 inc vat if it was something you were interested in, may be worth checking if they still have it. You could see if you can get adapters too to allow you attach whichever car seat you get to it.

We had a silvercross coast and I wouldn't reccomend it. The bottom basket is fixed so it is just really bulky when folded. It's lovely to push but just not practical when it's so massive. The wayfarer and wave are the same.

I did get an old mamas and papas flip xt2 on marketplace after awhile and I liked that one, it folded quite well. I think they're on to the flip xt3 now. They also offer the ocarro but I don't think that parent faces.

Have you looked at the babyzen yoyo? That could do the baby stage and the compact pram side of it then you could maybe get a second hand mountain buggy or huack for your more heavy duty pram for country walks if you have storage space?

I was in Costco earlier today and saw this, they defo still have it!

RichinVitaminR · 02/02/2024 23:14

Also I have the Cosatto Giggle 3 in 1 travel system, FTM to a 5 month old DD and so far I've been really pleased with it!

BertieBotts · 02/02/2024 23:29

I've had a maxi Cosi loola up - loved this and would definitely go for maxi Cosi again. However this is old fashioned now as he is a teenager. I absolutely loved it as a buggy though. But I like the maxi Cosi buggies from about 5 years ago - the Stella, Adorra types. I still see them around sometimes and think yes they look good.

DS2 I had a second hand mutsy Evo. It was ok, I liked it well enough but I was a bit annoyed with the shallow depth of the seat.

showmethegin · 02/02/2024 23:47

Our bugaboo fox was the best thing we bought for our baby hands down. DS is 19 months now and we still use it. We have a crappy folding thing for the nursery run but I hate using it. The fox is a joy to push and has a huge basket; I can do a really decent food shop with everything underneath! Love love love it.

Side note we considered the uppababy vista but I found it too tall (I'm 5"2).

Lizzieregina · 02/02/2024 23:53

I do childcare, so not my own kids, but my last baby had the Uppababy Vista and I loved it.

I routinely put 6/7 miles a day on it and little man was always happy and comfy.

glasshalfsomething · 02/02/2024 20:15

Babyjogger citi mini GT with the bassinet attachment. Lasted almost 3 years and would recommend it to anyone

That’s our second pushchair, for travel, nursery, etc. I agree, it’s massively underrated!

spiritowl · 03/02/2024 00:16

We have an Uppababy Cruz, and it's fantastic. Great for city or country, excellent with hills, the suspension is brilliant, a comfy ride for the child, easy to get on and off trains etc. The basket is huge and holds a lot, I've not seen any friend's prams that compare for size. Easy and comfortable to steer and doesn't refuse to turn the front wheels on every stone, like some do. So pleased with it, still in perfect condition over 3 years on.

Mummyme87 · 03/02/2024 00:32

I had a bugaboo cameleon 3 for first and 2nd baby, used for almost 3yrs each. Great pram but shit basket… I believe it’s been upgraded now.
I had a baby almost 4wks ago and had to get a new one as the frame had broken so couldn’t collapse it. We got an UPPAbaby Cruz this time. Love it so far, good size basket, easy to manoeuvre, not as big as the Vista.

Moveoverdarlin · 03/02/2024 00:40

Silver Cross Surf 2. Bloody loved it. Sold it when my children grew, but I regret it a bit. I loved pushing it. I miss not pushing a pram.
