Almost did today at an event. All bosses bosses there. Feel such a dick.

I threw up and fainted at work once. Had to be wheeled out in the evac chair in front of the whole reception. Now that’s embarrassing.

PlasticSurgeonWithASidelineAsAStuntWoman · 29/01/2024 22:18

Yep. Stepped backwards, tripped over a step stool and went arse over tit causing my skirt to ride up and the top of my holdups (& probably my knickers) to be flashed.

idontlikealdi · 29/01/2024 22:19

Yep, required 14 stitches to my forehead. No drink had been taken.

Elderflower14 · 29/01/2024 22:20

Often. I have dyspraxia. One morning I was behind a two person till with a colleague. He had put a basket behind me on the floor (not intentionly. ) I turned round to get some cigs out of the gantry tripped over the basket and sailed gracefully through the air landing in a heap under the fan much to the surprise of my colleague and the customers. I had a variety of bruises after that!!

NotmySundaybest · 29/01/2024 22:24

It makes it worse when people gasp and act like no one's ever fallen before

Leaving work. My heel went at the top of a flight of stairs that luckily was hidden from view….I fell top to bottom. Not wanting anyone to know, I picked myself up, opened the door into the main office and walked through and out like nothing had happened.
God everything hurt once I was outside walking for my bus. That was 42 years ago!!

Tanfastic · 29/01/2024 22:36

Twice. Once I was filing some documents away in my boss"s office whilst he was talking on the phone. I stepped back and somehow got my foot caught up in the telephone wire on the floor and fell arse over tit. Luckily we knew each other quite well 😂

The last time was as I was walking out of work I slipped on some water and fell flat on my face. I actually really hurt myself and bruised all my palms and hip where I landed. I reported it and there's been scaffolding up ever since so there's obviously a problem with a leak of some sort I think.

newhousenewhouse · 29/01/2024 22:37

Slipped on an icy marble entrance and cracked my head and had concussion. Also slipped down a whole flight of stairs at a train station in front of colleagues requiring an ambulance and a month off work...!

Sat down on a chair behind me but misjudged it and skitted off the edge. Chair spun away. I hit the deck. Whole class of pupils laughing like drains.

Rushing through the corridor with a clutch of overhead projector acetates (this was not yesterday) when I tripped on my slightly too long trouser hems. Flew down the corridor on my front, acetates spilling out in front of me, crash landed at a door. In front of an exceptionally naughty 15yo boy who had been sent out of his maths class. God love him but he never told a soul that whole rest of the year. Just helped me up and asked if I was ok. Even he - the devil in human form - knew a sad case when he saw one.

Yes, in my old job at a drinks event at our offices, I was being introduced to a an important client who I'd spoken to a lot over the phone but never met in person. I have no idea what I tripped over - my own feet? Air? - but the next thing I know I was diving towards him. He instinctively put his hands out to and I ended up half leaving on him with one of his hands very close to one of my breasts. It was the sort of position when neither of us could extricate ourselves that easily without making it worse. Utterly mortifying!

daffodilandtulip · 29/01/2024 22:44

Fell on a leak/flood whilst warning people not to slip on said leak/flood. Ended up at A&E. Which is great fun when you're a nurse 🙈

Yes, a long time ago, our company merged with another and our team transferred to their (shite) office and their incompetent manager. On the very first day, I was shocked when the contract cleaners arrived and began working well before closing time. I needed to photocopy some documents prior to sending them to Head Office, noted the cleaner was vacuuming, took care to step carefully over the lead, did my photocopying, stepped carefully back over the lead just as she decided to pull hard on the lead without looking and sent me and my documents flying, silly bitch/stupid management system. I could have been seriously hurt. Was super glad to transfer out of that team onto another floor.

Mindovermatter247 · 29/01/2024 22:47

Literally every day, if not falling over, hurting my self on the ladder, hurting my self with security tags. I’m more surprised if I don’t hurt myself.

iPreferBooks · 29/01/2024 22:47

Not at any of my current jobs but I fell down the stairs at one of my work experience placements a few years ago. They called the ambulance for me and I had to get to a&e bc I couldnt move without crying. Very bruised coccyx 😬

Blanketpolicy · 29/01/2024 22:52

Yes, tripped over some fresh air and did a long slow motion stagger over 4/5 steps, arms swinging and failed to regain my balance before landing hard on the concrete in front of about 20 blokes walking between buildings. It was a bloody sore one too, but to mortified to admit it. Group of blokes included first aiders and safety guys so they gathered around either trying to work out if I was injured or trying to work out what I'd tripped over 😳

Paw2024 · 29/01/2024 23:01

They'll forget
My colleague was on a call with a customer, had to mute it and then threw up in a bin and shit herself (norovirus came on suddenly)

aitchteeaitch · 29/01/2024 23:03

...tripped over some fresh air...

That fresh air is well sneaky, isn't it? It's caught me out a few times as well.😆

MrsCarson · 29/01/2024 23:03

Yes I tripped over the dirty laundry rolling hamper in the middle of the male ward, resulting in me on top of the washing and all the men cheered me. The washing cushioned my fall.

Ironingpile · 29/01/2024 23:12

I walked into an open filing cupboard and cut my eye. Had to have those white steri strips put on. Still got the scar. It was quite a talking point and taught me not to try and walk round with my glasses on my head rather than my face.

PuttingDownRoots · 29/01/2024 23:19

Missed the chair, knocked myself unconscious and got concussion.

During a seminar on alcohol and drugs awareness.

MrsMoastyToasty · 29/01/2024 23:34

Temping at a school 6th form in an admin role, I was taking the post and A level exam papers across to main reception. I caught my heel in a hole in a drain cover went flat on my face in front of a group of year 9 boys.

HerbalTeal · 29/01/2024 23:38

I was walking down some stairs with some colleagues I’d just had a fairly terse meeting with. Was the days of massive briefcase laptop bags and as I was stepping felt my heel catch in the dangling strap. To save myself from falling I ended up jumping fully down a flight of stairs, didn’t acknowledge what had happened so just looked as though I’d done a bonkers massive jump! 🤣😬

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 29/01/2024 23:44

I was very pregnant, basically like a gigantic beach ball with token ineffectual limbs. Sat down on a chair at a big trade exhibition and for no reason, me and the chair both slowly toppled directly sideways like a Weeble until my full weight was on the temporary “wall” of our exhibition stand, which nearly collapsed until I was hauled back off it by horrified bystanders.

Loads of people had been having polite boring professional meetings at little tables all around me and they were all highly diverted

gano · 29/01/2024 23:47

Not personally, but I used to work on a reception desk and saw several people fall over each week! And that was just in reception.

TeenLifeMum · 29/01/2024 23:50

I fainted in the underpass by my office at lunch time (grazed my knees etc) and 3 80 year old ladies were trying to help me (I was about 34 and mortified). Two colleagues came along (my manager and the deputy ceo 😩😳🤦🏻‍♀️) and scooped me up and carried me into work (the offices of the hospital). I was mortified. Deputy ceo was also a doctor so checked me over, asked slightly awkwardly if perhaps I was pregnant (nope) and once I was okay he kissed me on the head and told manager to drive me home. I later learned deputy ceo was supposed to collect his children and had messaged a relative to help so he could check I was okay.

They were super lovely and caring but I really wanted to hide 🫣
